Talk about cute and wholesome. I went here with my friend on a Sunday for a Sip & Paint Grecas. This is a coffee lover's dream. For the purpose of the class they did not have their full menu available but they did offer all participants 2 full size beverages from their menu. I had the Mora Mojito (not infused) and hands down one of the best mocktails I have every had. I also tried the Lemonade Ginger Beer which too was very refreshing. My friend had the Coquito Iced Latte and raved about it being delicious. While we did not order food....appetizers were served. They gave us chicken pinchos...not much to talk about HOWEVER they served a guayaba puff pastry that was deliousous!!!! I would recommend everyone to take a class when they are offering one. What is there not to love about Marimba Cafe? We walked in when they just opened and we were immediately greeted warmly by the staff. Everything from the vibe to the space was full of good energy. They asked if it was our first time there and immediately recommended their favorites. I got the coquitto latte (something you don't see anywhere else), it's unlike any latte I've had before. Warm and yummy on a cold day. Now onto the food, everything we got was delicious from the empanadas to the sandwiches. You can taste that everything is made fresh and with love. The bbq chicken skewers were tender and flavorful and the El Clasico Sandwich - wow! It was cheesy, salty, sweet, all in one bite. The guava sauce on it put it over the top. Marimba is a must visit if you're in downtown Hackensack! It's a local cafe that serves authentic Colombian and Puerto Rican bites, coffee, fresh juices, and cannabis cocktails. The ambiance itself is a reason to stop by. The owners added so many creative and unique touches to the space that transports you to PR. You almost forget you're in the middle of Hackensack, NJ. Every inch of this cafe is to theme - green tiled furniture, cobble mosaic floor tiles, wall art, dominoes table, palm plants, Colombian coffee burlap bags on the ceiling vents, etc. There's a decent amount of seating with wifi and outlets. They also sell merchandise and CBD products. I've been here twice and tried a few different items from their menu. One thing that bothers me is that they don't have any prices listed. It's a huge pet peeve of mine. Is this coffee $5 or $7 or $10? Lol... and I don't want to hear any of that "prices are subject to change without notice" nonsense. The employees are friendly and helpful. They give great food/drink recommendations depending on your tastes. One thing they need to work on is their waiting times because they take awhile to bring your orders out, even when it's not busy. What I've tried... *Passion Fruit Juice (Jugo de Parcha) ~$5 - Very refreshing and tangy! Not overly sweet at all. You can tell they use real passion fruit pulp instead of artificial fruit syrups. *El Clasico Sandwich ~$8 - One of their most popular food items and I definitely understand why! It comes with turkey, egg, cheese, and guava sauce on pan sobao (sweet Puerto Rican bread). The bread is so soft and fluffy! The sandwich is a mixture of both sweet and salty flavors - it's so satisfying and hits the spot. *Waffle Bono ~$9 - A pan de bono (Colombian cheese bread) waffle served with mixed fruit, dulce de leche, and whipped cream! This wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't order it again. The waffles were too dry for me. I did enjoy the chewy texture and cheesy flavor, though. *Iced Coquito Latte ~$6 - If you've never had coquito... what are you doing? It's a Puerto Rican holiday drink typically made with coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and... rum. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy coquito with espresso, but I was pleasantly surprised. The hints of bitterness from the coffee went well with the spices and sweetness from the coquito. It was a rich and creamy drink garnished with shredded coconut. Overall, this is a spot that's worth a visit. Street parking available. Greeted as soon as we walked in. Barista asked if it was our first time there and she went over the top fave which is the coquito latte. I got that and shared their chicken sandwich with hubby. We also split a pan de bono. The latte was delicious. Not too sweet yet tasty. The sandwich was made fresh and with their own pink sauce on it made for a delightful lunch before heading to the airport. The pan de bono did not disappoint. Loved the vibe inside. Tucked away on the side of main st. You'll find this cute and welcoming cafe serving up a variety of snack like bites and sandwiches. We tried the coquita iced latte, waffle and turkey sandwich. It was quite busy but we got our food within fifteen mins after snagging a table. They have card games and dominos on the table which is nice. Food and latte was delicious. Waffle was chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The turkey sandwich with egg was nicely cheesed and toasted. Everything was good, but I guess a bit on the pricier side compared to other cafes. All in for about $30 with tip. Returned to Marimba Cafe and, once again, was impressed and satisfied with my purchases. This time, I tried the iced Coquito Latte and it was very good. I was back in my hometown for a short trip and wanted to work remote from a cafe. I did a quick Yelp search and stumbled across Marimba Cafe - the new name caught my eye and the aesthetics and offerings here solidified my decision. I don't think I've ever come across a sit down Latin cafe here in Bergen County so to me, since moving away, it's the first of its kind. Also first of its kind to proudly offer CBD infused menu items. I believe they just opened in November! The vibes in here are immaculate. My favorite feature is the stone floor - it just transports you somewhere new! The color scheme in here is also appealing, and the Latin music made me want to dance while I took on meetings haha. Overall, really solid branding and concept. Since I was working west coast hours, I spent the whole afternoon into close here. It's a really great place to work as there were other people working remote. They have comfortable seating and outlets conveniently located along the booth. I will say though that the booth seating was just a tad too high for the table so it took some time getting used to. Also, they do play the music fairly loud (a must) in here so it can be a tad distracting if you're taking meetings and have to speak. Since I stayed here for over 5 hours, I was able to observe the sense of community Marimba has fostered - they greet customers like friends! I also saw on their Instagram that they host community events like paint nights and dance nights and support other local businesses with their La Placita Sundays. I love everything this business is about. I ordered the coquito latte hot and a pan de bono. The latte was solid and I wish the pan de bono was just a bit bigger! I would love to try more here. While the food is delicious, the staff could use an attitude adjustment. This was actually my 2nd time traveling to visit the location and feeling so unwelcome by staff. Upsetting to say considering the business prides themselves on their positive and welcoming atmosphere. Seems like this is selective because both my experiences had similar vibes. I will say there was a female barista who was kind, cat say the same for the others. Even from the moment I entered I was not greeted, even after being watched make my way to the counter from the long walk from the entrance. A few moments later I received a lemonade that tasted like water infused with lemon. The barista seemed happy to replace with a different natural juice but the other staff member started to speak so nasty about my request. It was actually pretty upsetting to be treated like a pariah for asking to replace something that was very clearly made unwell. Wouldn't be writing this review if it wasn't. My initial visit last year while I didn't have the same experience. I think the same employee was the person who gave me the coldest shoulder when I asked questions about the menu. This led me to return to my car to finish my drink rather than enjoying inside. I ordered a sandwich to-go this time around which was delicious by the way! read more

We were in Hackensack on Sunday morning and the place was not far from where we were so we decided to give it a try. We are glad we did. We walked to the counter and were asked if it was our first visit. We said said yes and Lucia took time to walk us through the menu. We placed our order and sat down. It had a simple food menu and a very extensive hot and cold drink menu. My wife got waffles and I got a chicken sandwich. I got a hot Americano and my wife got a hot Macha Latte. Lucia brought it all out to us. Everything was good we have no issues with anything. I absolutely love the vibe here every time we come... like who is your designer and how can I get them to do my house ?! We recently visited with a group of friends and it was the first time we ordered a little bit of everything off the menu. The coquito latte is my fav, my friends enjoyed their coffees and said the Rosas coffee was the perfect hint to add. The food was surprisingly really yummy! What a gem in Hackensack! I visited Marimba Café and instantly fell in love with the vibe. The décor is so cute, and bonus it's cannabis-friendly! I didn't see anyone actively smoking, but they do sell cannabis-infused items for your drinks, which is a fun and unique touch. They even have a domino table, so of course I had to sit there, enjoy my mocktail, and savor my sandwich. The menu is simple but full of great options. I told the staff it was my first time, and the girl helping me gave awesome recommendations. Their coffee machine was down when I arrived, but they had it fixed within the hour didn't bother me since I wasn't there for coffee this time anyway. The passion fruit juice was refreshing, and the Passion Fruit Margarita mocktail was delicious just a heads up, it comes with tahin pieces, so it has a little kick! The chicken sandwich was amazing fresh, flavorful, and honestly, I could've eaten another. One thing I love is that you can work here. There are plenty of accessible outlets, so you can grab your laptop, sip on something tasty, and get things done in a cozy setting. Overall a great experience and lovely place to eat! The aesthetic is awesome and authentically Latino (Puerto Rican and Colombian to be specific). The staff is is courteous, helpful, and will gladly walk through the food menu and CBD options with you- which is great is you're looking to try new things, whether it be a type of cuisine or CBD infused products. But the food itself- OH. MY. GOODNESS. The Coquito Latte is genuinely one of the best hot beverages I've had in this lifetime. I know that sounds dramatic and that's how serious I am! The Waffle Bono was one of the best and creative takes I've had on pan de bono, and the dulce de leche drizzled on top only makes you want more. My friends and I wandered into Marimba Cafe in search of coffee, dessert, and maybe a snack. Surprise! They have a cannabis/CBD-infused menu. Cool for some... but we had no clue until we sat down. We weren't looking to get "extra mellow" -- just a decent cup of coffee. Instead, we got three drinks (rose coffee, passionfruit coffee, and matcha coffee) that tasted like they'd been kidnapped by sugar and strange flavors, then abandoned far from anything resembling coffee. Food-wise, I had the arepa with avocado, egg, and tomato. It was fine... but $17.27 for that and a coffee? For that price, I was expecting a marimba band to serenade me personally. Each of us paid about $18 for a drink and a small appetizer -- ouch. The one hero of the night? The Pan de Bono waffles -- cute, tasty, and the only thing we'd come back for (if they cost less than a car payment). Verdict: If you're here for the cannabis munchies, maybe you'll have a blast. This cute little cafe in the heart of Hackensack definitely caught me by surprise. I needed a place to get some work done outside of the house and this popped up and I instantly drove there. Parking was easy being that there is metered parking throughout the area. The cafe had people come in and out and was extremely spacious. I had one of their pan de bonos that was made fresh and a Milo latte which reminded me of my childhood. The decor within the establishment is very cultural and gives off a true authentic feel. The music was also such a vibe with extremely friendly staff. My favorite part of the entire place had to be the domino table they had set up for people to play. There's non dairy options for us vegans, and I love that there's a Colombian twist to the beverages. You can get infused or non-infused beverages. This new cafe is a great remote work setting! There are several outlets available, and seating is usually available depending on what time of day you arrive. Street parking is also available. The decor and vibe of the cafe are super cute and I love how open it feels. I haven't tried the CBD drinks, but the coffee is really good.
