    Coquito Latte Avocado Arepa
    Joel R.

Very happy to have stumbled upon this spot in Hackensack. I needed a place to work and some breakfast and this place did not disappoint. The interior is really well designed with nice background music. It's a perfect place to get some work done. They also have a really good menu. I tried to Coquito Latte which was delicious and the Avocado arepa. There's alot of love in each menu item and great service as well.

Marimba is a must visit if you're in downtown Hackensack! It's a local cafe that serves authentic Colombian and Puerto Rican bites, coffee, fresh juices, and cannabis cocktails. The ambiance itself is a reason to stop by. The owners added so many creative and unique touches to the space that transports you to PR. You almost forget you're in the middle of Hackensack, NJ. Every inch of this cafe is to theme - green tiled furniture, cobble mosaic floor tiles, wall art, dominoes table, palm plants, Colombian coffee burlap bags on the ceiling vents, etc. There's a decent amount of seating with wifi and outlets. They also sell merchandise and CBD products. I've been here twice and tried a few different items from their menu. One thing that bothers me is that they don't have any prices listed. It's a huge pet peeve of mine. Is this coffee $5 or $7 or $10? Lol... and I don't want to hear any of that "prices are subject to change without notice" nonsense. The employees are friendly and helpful. They give great food/drink recommendations depending on your tastes. One thing they need to work on is their waiting times because they take awhile to bring your orders out, even when it's not busy. What I've tried... *Passion Fruit Juice (Jugo de Parcha) ~$5 - Very refreshing and tangy! Not overly sweet at all. You can tell they use real passion fruit pulp instead of artificial fruit syrups. *El Clasico Sandwich ~$8 - One of their most popular food items and I definitely understand why! It comes with turkey, egg, cheese, and guava sauce on pan sobao (sweet Puerto Rican bread). The bread is so soft and fluffy! The sandwich is a mixture of both sweet and salty flavors - it's so satisfying and hits the spot. *Waffle Bono ~$9 - A pan de bono (Colombian cheese bread) waffle served with mixed fruit, dulce de leche, and whipped cream! This wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't order it again. The waffles were too dry for me. I did enjoy the chewy texture and cheesy flavor, though. *Iced Coquito Latte ~$6 - If you've never had coquito... what are you doing? It's a Puerto Rican holiday drink typically made with coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and... rum. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy coquito with espresso, but I was pleasantly surprised. The hints of bitterness from the coffee went well with the spices and sweetness from the coquito. It was a rich and creamy drink garnished with shredded coconut. Overall, this is a spot that's worth a visit. They even host engaging community events throughout the month like listening parties, open mics, and Sunday pop-up markets. Check them out!

Street parking available. Greeted as soon as we walked in. Barista asked if it was our first time there and she went over the top fave which is the coquito latte. I got that and shared their chicken sandwich with hubby. We also split a pan de bono. The latte was delicious. Not too sweet yet tasty. The sandwich was made fresh and with their own pink sauce on it made for a delightful lunch before heading to the airport. The pan de bono did not disappoint. Loved the vibe inside. A few people were working remotely in there. Not too loud but still pleasant music in the background. They also have a dominoes table. We were told thank you from afar as we walked out. Would come back based on the service and the coquito latte!

Beautiful place, the inside was so colorful and well taken care of. Lucia was amazing, sweet, and made incredible drinks. The food was also pretty pretty good, my favorite being the chicken. Would definitely recommend.

Tucked away on the side of main st. You'll find this cute and welcoming cafe serving up a variety of snack like bites and sandwiches. We tried the coquita iced latte, waffle and turkey sandwich. It was quite busy but we got our food within fifteen mins after snagging a table. They have card games and dominos on the table which is nice. Food and latte was delicious. Waffle was chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The turkey sandwich with egg was nicely cheesed and toasted. Everything was good, but I guess a bit on the pricier side compared to other cafes. All in for about $30 with tip. They don't list prices here which is some of the feedback, but overall friendly and welcoming place serving up good eats!

Definitely a 5 start! A very good cappuccino, I am from Europe, close to Italy, so very serious about good coffee and this one is good! Staff were super friendly, welcomed me in from the door. Luisa helped me order suggested an egg, turkey sandwich! Which is amazing by the way, definitely filling, would recommend. Comfortable seating, vacation feeling!!

Returned to Marimba Cafe and, once again, was impressed and satisfied with my purchases. This time, I tried the iced Coquito Latte and it was very good. I also ordered the Pastelillo De Carne (Puerto Rican style empanada filled with ground beef and sweet plantain). I enjoyed every bite of this tasty treat and highly recommend it. Talking to the owners is always a pleasure. The way they describe their journey to decorating and managing this cafe is amazing and I wish them continued success.

Best cafe in Hackensack! Marimba cafe brings good food, delicious juices and coffee, and most importantly cares about the community and works hard to bring the community together! They host various events every month, and I highly recommend going to them!

Cute spot with great aesthetic ... decor was top notch and went along with the greatness of the coquito latte. Service was great the cashier was friendly and made a suggestion since I explained it was my first time there. Def will come back to try some of their food as from looking at someone else's plate it looked delicious.

Marimba Café is absolutely to die for! Their small treats are so tasty and they have the nicest people every working here! From the owner to the baristas, everybody is so nice! Their decor is also super cool. Feels almost like you're in Puerto Rico. I would definitely recommend their pastelillos and their fresh juices! Their waffles are also super tasty! My favorite part about Marimba is all the different events they do throughout the month. La Placita Sundays is my absolute favorite, as they bring in different small vendors for you to shop! Such a cool place overall!!

Yummy place I tried out for the first time! Such soft bread and waffles that are evenly baked. I didn't feel stuffed so was perfect portion size. I loved the coquito drink too and that is my new favorite drink. Was nice and quiet atmosphere to get work done. I recommend 10/10.

I absolutely love the vibe here every time we come... like who is your designer and how can I get them to do my house ?! We recently visited with a group of friends and it was the first time we ordered a little bit of everything off the menu. The coquito latte is my fav, my friends enjoyed their coffees and said the Rosas coffee was the perfect hint to add. The food was surprisingly really yummy! I'm not sure why I didn't expect them to have actual meals but they were a hit! I couldn't get over how soft and tasty the bread was in the chicken sandwich. They also have a variety of events that they host throughout the month and I love to see how creative they get - you can tell they put a lot of thought into it. I'd recommend you pay them a visit, you won't regret it!

The long window of treats and eats attests to this, with the pastries and baked goods greeting the eyes first. Further down the line, there are prepared pizzas, and even further, there are sandwiches and signs posting the specials of the day. My husband and I initially walked in with the intention of grabbing a croissant, but we couldn't help ourselves and nabbed a spicy salmon sandwich to share. Ordering was a cinch, and since we were dining in, we were directed to grab a seat. Seating space is aplenty, with an entire half of the interior dedicated to tables. On a weekend morning, there were lots of patrons visiting, and even then, there were lots of seats for us to choose. I'm typically a purist at heart, but there was no stopping me once I saw there was a s'more croissant available. If and when you order one for yourself, they'll ask you if you want it warmed, and the answer is absolutely yes. The marshmallow got melty and gooey, and I gasped when I saw the chocolate inside. It's like a naughty pain au chocolat, and while it was a little on the sweet side for my own preferences, I could see this going over well for those chasing cavities. The spicy salmon was also surprisingly decent, with crunchy bread and salmon that was dressed with a good kick. I noticed there were some other tables with lingering parties, who had clearly long finished their food but weren't being pressured or chased away. I'd recommend Patis Bakery for those who might want to work or sit with friends for a longer time in a cozy space.

A few other parties were dining in and a good amount of people picked up takeout. My sandwich was much bigger than I anticipated but it was delicious. The various meats brought the saltiness and savory flavor I was looking for and it all paired well with the eggs and cheese. The bread it was served in had a nice crunch to it which is always appreciated. The sandwich was great but the next time I get it I have to add the SPK (salt, pepper, ketchup for you non-Jerseyans).
