    Martini and manhattan

This place gets 5 stars for old school charm and quirkiness but the decor needs a refresh and so does the menu. Servers are friendly and witty with a wry humor of folks that know their dry martinis and steak dinners. Even the valet parkers are charming and cool. I loved my martini but that was the highlight of the meal. The Caesar salad was nice but a little soggy, the petrole sole suffered from a similar water logged tendency. I want to come back to find the perfect dish but am in no hurry.

I took a nice drive with family to this really nice restaurant called Marin Joes restaurant really great Ambiance the service was amazing and the food was Epic I ordered the porterhouse with a side of ravioli with Parmesan cheese on top now let me tell you the Aujus is extremely delicious and definitely on point the real deal . The flavors from it and the porterhouse comes together so smoothly . The Au jus is extremely delicious and addictive you just can't stop won't stop. So yeah we're done this way. Come on through. You definitely will enjoy it because they do it right here. Well, I'm not trying to be rude, but I have to attend to my epic food now.

Very large and tasty Caesar salad

As always it is perfect! I had the Caesar salad, then Chicken Parm with Spaghetti and Meat sauce. All is delicious! Dessert was Zabaglione, and that is a very special dish and difficult to find. A superb meal, and so much fun sitting at the counter and watching the grill. Such a great dinner. Highly recommended!

Always a good time and good meal at Marin Joes! The hamburgers are my go to for lunch to dinner time meals. But the breakfast is always great too. The staff is very friendly and will give you specials and their favorites. They've got a nice bar if you're going to celebrate something, or just want to unwind. Nice booths for groups of 4 and tables set up in the back room for larger groups.

We went for an early dinner on the way back from a Cal game when the Bay Bridge was shut down due to an accident. We've been before and it's very old fashioned, like the old Westlake Joe's. Green vinyl booths, old waiters, lots of liver and onions on the menu. My lasagne was hearty but obviously microwaved and lukewarm. My husband said his sweetbreads were good but not crispy enough. My son's veal parm was tasty but his ravs only had a dollop of sauce, which was odd. They forgot my minestrone soup order altogether. It's a nice old school place but the chef needs to step up his game.

Happy hour is 4-6 pm at the "bar section" only, separate from the main restaurant. Go early as its first come first serve. I tried the crispy buffalo wings which was good. But the walla walla waffle chips with onion dip was phenomenal. Such deep rich flavor dip. I also tried the half dozen raw oysters; the accompanying sauce and lemon enhanced the flavor perfectly. Matt had been talking about Brazilian steakhouse every time he saw something that reminded him remotely of Fogo de Chao, so I figured this opportunity might be of interest to him. Come to find out that the day after I make the reservation he asks if I'd be willing to go a Brazilian steakhouse for the long weekend, so I got to surprise him with the fact that I already had a reservation. I'm not the biggest fan of Fogo de Chao based on my prior experiences there. I do believe that I have been to a Show de Carnes location before and had another great experience, but also Show de Carnes's Memorial Day promotion was slightly better than Fogo's and I much preferred that their location was outside of the city even if on the other side of the bridge. I did have to call the morning of to delay our reservation slightly, but it was taken care of for us without hassle. We even got seated closer to the original reservation time when we ended up running early. There isn't much space to wait in the front lobby area especially on a packed night, but everything looks very upscale from the wine bottles on the wall to the crystals above the self-serve side buffet. As far as mandatory meats, I have a couple of personal rules when it comes to Brazilian steakhouse, including go light on the sides and only go for the beef. Picanha is my favorite, extra rare too, so I made myself a whole pincanha meat salad while probably giving the guy cutting the meat a good scare. The grilled pineapple is also a must, followed by the cheese and honey. Matt got a lot more variety but it takes a while for the guys to come around with meat that has already been sliced up some so I can get to the parts that I like. We got a papaya cream and passion fruit mousse for dessert, which we probably really didn't need but enjoyed thoroughly as we are both dessert people. As it was a busy night, it was not too easy to flag a server down. I saw picanhas skip our table left and right so I'm not sure there's an established route for them to bring the meat around. The staff did seem to work together with great teamwork, and someone always stopped by to make sure we had more water and our choice of sides. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone that is a protein or all you can eat fan. The regular price per person is definitely steep in my humble opinion, but if you can catch a promo it'll be a great time. Also, don't choose between still or sparkling, ask for tap. I will not be getting got again next time.

Ever since I first heard about Fish oh so long ago, I'd been wanting to try them, but just never had much of a reason to come here. Other than to, you know, eat here. However, I had so much faith, in fact, that I even recommended this place to my buddy before I even made my way here. Thankfully, they didn't let me down, as both he and his wife loved the food here! More importantly, now that I've been, so do we! Although it takes a little bit of work to find them (they're on Bridgeway, but away from the touristy part and set back in a marina), Fish is well worth the effort. Not only is the vibe cozy and relaxed, but they've got a ton of seating both inside and out (love sitting by the water!). And, of course, the menu is awesome, as it's filled with so many options, from chowders, raw oysters, and salads to seafood entrees, pastas, and, of course, fish & chips. Plus, they also have menu boards highlighting the day's selection of raw oysters, crab, fresh fish, special entrees, "fish bits", and desserts that are just as interesting and unique! -- WHITE CHOWDER - Traditional New England Clam Chowder with Surf Clams, Cream, Bacon, Potatoes, Onion, Celery, White Wine, and Dried Herbs This was terrific! Although it could've been slightly thicker/chunkier, I liked the consistency of this - smooth but with chunks of potatoes. I also really liked how tender and meaty the clam was, too! -- RAW OYSTERS - Shigoku Oysters (WA) I had never even heard of Shigoku oysters before these, but they were terrific! The oysters were about medium sized with deep shells, which made them super to eat and I liked how they had a bit of sweetness and a bright finish to them. -- WHOLE ROASTED DUNGENESS CRAB with Tomato Sugo Drawn From Roasted Crab Shells over Soft Polenta I don't often order whole crabs like this at restaurants, but this was undeniably tasty. Aside from how messy this was to eat, the crab was sweet, the legs were pretty meaty, and I really liked how the sugo helped reinforce the taste of crab with the polenta. -- PASTA CON VONGOLE - Clams Served over Fresh Housemade Organic Egg and Semolina Linguine with Olive Oil, Butter, White Wine, Garlic, and Red Chili Flake LOVED that they didn't skimp on the clams, which were all so good, as well as the sauce and how it had a slight kick to it. The pasta had a very bouncy bite, too, but I wish there had been more of it and that it was able to hold onto the sauce better. -- FISH & CHIPS - Crispy Beer-Battered Local Rock Cod Served with Housemade Tartar Sauce and Wedge Fries Maybe my hopes/expectations were too high, as this was more decent than amazing. Mainly, while the batter was crispy-ish on the outside, it was a bit mushy on the inside. Still, the cod itself was pretty good and I liked the fries - crisp and not too potato-y. -- GRILLED CALIFORNIA HAMACHI with Housemade Pasta, Shishito Pepper-Cilantro Pesto, and Parmesan I'm so glad we pivoted to this when we saw it on the board - it was so good! The piece of hamachi was sizable, moist, and flavorful while the pasta was just as bouncy and held onto the sauce. If only they didn't use cilantro in their pesto (blech). Despite how Fish's food didn't amaze like how I had hoped it would, I think that has a lot more to do with the high hopes (expectations?) that had built up from the anticipation of finally coming here than anything else. Really, the only thing that might have been an actual bummer was the Fish & Chips, but even then, it was still notably better than others I've had. Besides, it's not like there's a shortage of delicious to pivot to instead! Fish, you'll definitely be seeing me again!

Too bad because I think the idea should work anywhere that there is a McDonald's throughout the country. Maybe they'll get there one day? Well, Super Duper's a nice replacement. I always order the veggie burger with cheese. It's got a really nice bun and the texture of the patty is like a falafel, it even has bits of corn and carrots inside.
