He's attentive, takes good care of his patients, and his front office team is phenomenal. I've gone to a lot of dentists in the past and Dr. Nick is one of the most trusted and genuine people I've ever met in Dentistry. He is very thorough and goes through all your options. He explains everything well and I can honestly tell you that he does his best to get insurance to pay for stuff - which is such a huge plus. Dr. Nick gives recommendations based on what he thinks you need and what you may need in the future. He has the foresight to plan for things that other dentists wouldn't even think about. I initially had a very positive experience with Marina Advanced Dentistry when I came in as an emergency patient. The care I received was good, although the cost was significant, and I appreciated being taken care of at the time. Unfortunately, my experience with the office afterward completely changed my impression of the practice. Six months later, I had a follow-up appointment scheduled. I called the office and explained that I had unexpectedly lost my job the day before and was concerned that my dental benefits may have been immediately canceled. I was unsure whether I could responsibly keep the appointment and asked if they could please allow me to reschedule given the circumstances. Despite explaining the situation, I was told I would still be charged an $85 late cancellation fee. I explained again that I had just lost my job and was dealing with an unexpected loss of insurance, but there seemed to be very little understanding or flexibility. At that point, I let them know I no longer felt comfortable continuing as a patient. A few weeks later, I called to request my X-rays so I could establish care elsewhere. I ultimately spoke with the dentist directly and was again told that I needed to pay the cancellation fee. I explained the circumstances once more, but unfortunately felt the same lack of empathy or consideration. I understand that dental offices have cancellation policies and need to protect their schedules. What was disappointing was the complete lack of compassion or discretion in an unusual and difficult circumstance, particularly after I had previously paid a substantial amount for emergency treatment. Healthcare is ultimately a relationship built on trust and care, and this experience left me feeling that the policy and fee mattered more than the patient. I've been coming to Marina Advanced Dentistry for almost 2 years and I appreciate Dr. Nick and his team have done. I originally looked up multiple dental offices for a dental clean and Marina caught my eye, as well as the great reviews. Sandra has also been the best when it comes to both helping with appointments and also informing me every step of my dental work. Dr Nick and his staff are very nice, professional and time to time make me laugh from their jokes even when half my mouth is numbed up. I've been to Dr. Nick at Marina Advanced Dentistry a few times now, and every visit has been consistently great. The office is organized, clean, prompt, reliable, and full of genuinely personable people, which is not always a given when it comes to medical or dental offices. What stands out most to me is how clear they are about costs. They actually explain things in a way that makes sense, help you understand what your insurance will and won't cover, and make practical suggestions based on that. It never felt like I was being pushed into extra work just because. As someone who really appreciates transparency, that goes a long way. They're also impressively efficient. On one visit, I went in for a cleaning and they were able to fill a cavity that wasn't even originally scheduled, which saved me from having to come back for another appointment. The staff is very friendly and the dental work is consistently good. An issue came up with my retainer molds, and while it took a few conversations to get to a resolution, the practice ultimately offered to make things right by covering a fix. This dentist never sleeps! I had a dental emergency 2 weeks ago (days before Christmas). I called my own dentist's office and texted his cellphone. After hours of no response, I searched for a highly ranked dentist. Didn't care where the office was located. I just needed someone solid and urgently. On a Sunday night, I called Marina Advanced Dental fully expecting to leave a VM, but Dr Nick answered! God bless that man and his team. He had me in his chair at 8 the following morning. It's never good hearing devastating dental news. But simultaneously, what he illuminated were so many problems my own dentist of 5 years missed or didn't tell me about. And he showed me on the images he took. In any case, I knew then and there this is a top flight practice. Each member of his team who I met were kind and compassionate. And it's evident Dr Nick is a man of integrity. I think he's honest. I think he knows what he's doing. And because of what he revealed to me that day, my dentist of 5 years has lost a patient. I recently had a crown pop loose right before an International flight and I was not too happy about traveling without the cap, especially as I was quiet uncomfortable and it would likely only get worse. They managed to squeeze me in and Dr. Nick was meticulous in ensuring my crown was repaired as best as possible while also working quickly and sensitive to my schedule. I first met Dr. Nick in West Covina during the Covid pandemic when it was nearly impossible to find a dentist who was open and willing to provide treatment. From the moment I met him, I knew I had found an exceptional dentist. Dr. Nick stands out in so many ways--he's professional, patient, and takes the time to thoroughly explain everything, which made me feel incredibly comfortable. Unfortunately, Dr. Nick eventually left that office, and they wouldn't provide any information about where he went. After having some really unpleasant experiences with other dentists, I decided to track him down--and I'm so glad I did! I got in a bike accident Sunday of Labor Day weekend and, unfortunately lost a tooth. Naturally I was freaking, so starting frantically poring over the internet to find an emergency dentist. Dr. Nick's office called in 5 minutes and got me in within an hour. Needless to say I had a lot of trepidation-new dentist, uncharted territory; but this guy is really skilled! My tooth did not break in a normal way and he did something pretty extraordinary to save what was left of it and put in a crown that matched perfectly. I went and saw my regular dentist (family friend, so really can't leave), and she said he did a terrific job. Understaffed. The receptionist was also the dental assistant, and seemingly, also the dentist when needed. (While working on me, the actual dentist asked her to run into another room to do something for a patient and he'd 'come and help' if she needed him to.) These guys are great! A couple of months ago my boyfriend's crown popped out, on a Sunday of all days. They were able to take him in within a couple hours and fixed his tooth right then and there. He is by far one of the best cosmetic dentists I've came across as his attention to detail was amazing! He thoroughly explained everything and calmed my fears as I suffered a childhood accident that caused me to need a root canal and veneers.
