Absolutely appalled by my experience tonight. The food was delicious--until I discovered a live bug in my wonton. That alone was disgusting enough, but what truly shocked me was the manager's response. He didn't even have the decency to approach our table. Instead, he casually walked by, chuckled, and said, "Were y'all the ones with the bug? Interesting." Then he just kept walking. I was stunned. No apology. No explanation. Just a total lack of professionalism or basic human decency. Honestly, our server showed more empathy and accountability than the manager, who should have been leading by example. I never leave reviews, but this experience left me feeling completely disrespected and mortified. A serious failure in customer service--and in basic hygiene. read more

From service to the food, it was amazing! Our server Helen was great at recommending delicious dishes. We took her advice. I ordered the scallops (delicious!!) And my hubby ordered the swordfish. He thoroughly enjoyed it. He tried my scallops and we both agreed, they were the winner. We also ordered the grouper cheek appetizer which is what Helen had recommended. They did not disappoint! Cute place with outdoor bar seating for happy hour. Happy hour is a late 5-7pm. They also have a dress code. I didn't think that was a thing still. But this is the South. They have a paired down happy hour menu with a lot of good tasting stuff. I really liked the fish tacos. The chicken and pork belly were not burnt but slightly charred a bit much for my taste. I placed my order with the bartender who served my drinks and told me come back in 10 minutes and my food will arrive at the bar. Taking our drinks back outside I waited 10 minutes on the dot walked in and my food indeed had just arrived!! My party consisted of 8 total people (4 couples) & we basically had an entire room in the back to ourselves. I can't remember the server's name but he was excellent & took great care of our party as we made our way through drinks, starters, entrees, more drinks, & dessert. I had the fried green tomatoes which had a shrimp on top of each of them & boy were they good! Probably the best I've had anywhere which is a BIG deal. Easily what's not to love about this lovely gem here! Came on a Friday night for a quick bite and made it for Happy Hour. We were greeted by the receptionist whom guided us to the bar area. We had fried green tomatoes to start off our evening. They were perfectly fried, crispy and accompanied by a sauce that complemented the tangy notes of the tomatoes. FOOD : Obviously anything you order will most likely be prettyyyy dang good. At least it should be if you're going to pay $30-60 a plate yikes, RIP my bank account. Worth it? For sure. I got the free range chicken and I kid you not, I got an entire chicken on my plate. It was the biggest bird I have ever seen, but it was awesome. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and crisped yet incredibly juicy and the marinade was on point. I personally loved this plate and was stuffed beyond measure when I finished. I got a side of crispy potatoes which is absolutely a must. The rest of the table raved about their food - anything from the sushi to the pork chops to the scallops, it was all amazing. SERVICE : we had a very informed and kind waiter, always very present to help and was thorough with his knowledge of the menu. He forgot to take my order to the kitchen so I ended up eating late after my table finished which just happens sometimes, however I was bummed because he didn't give me any kind of a discount for my food being late. I feel like that's just kind of a thing you do in customer service if you mess up as a waiter, but it is what it is. We went for my sisters bachelorette party and they gave her a free shot which was special! I would say other than my food being late, this was a beautiful spot to experience and if I come back to Destin (and have the money), I'll definitely come back here. I will say I came into Marina Cafe not expecting much. Without getting into it, I will say I had a pleasant experience. The food was pretty good and the wine and martinis were great. Our server was so nice. Loved her. Seems like such a romantic spot on the water. Truly. Only thing I'd suggest is to not use the tiny tables unless it's just one guest eating. They were so small even the server apologized for the small table and stated she wasn't sure why they used them. Nonetheless still a great experience. read more
