If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this is not the place to eat. Watery Salsa with a dash of tomato sauce, some the beans taste and appear to be from a can. I had high expectations and left much to be desired from this place. In addition, to make the experience even worse, the cooks didn't want to add a simple over egg on to the dish we order. With such a simple request, one would suspect that it might be honored since we're the consumer. Stopped in for Saturday breakfast with my son and the food was delicious and fresh. We both got coffee and had three cups each as it was smooth and bold Community brand. The salsa was on the mild side but the flour tortillas were homemade and pillowy soft. I got the bean and cheese and picadillo tacos. The beans were flavored with bacon grease and all the tacos had good flavor. My son got pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs and cleaned his plate. Some of the best local breakfast tacos you can get. Lots of options for Mexican style breakfast tacos. They're soooo good! One of the best in New Braunfels! With that said, be prepared to wait even if you go order through the drive through. They're made to order & certainly delicious but do plan to wait 10 minutes at least. Only been here once when visiting New Braunfels area. We had carne asada tacos, bean and cheese tacos, and bacon egg & cheese tacos. The waitress warned us of the 10 minute wait because they had to cook the asada, no biggy, at least it was fresh. The service was OK, no great at all. I had to get up and get my own menu and napkins when we got there. They do provide free chips and salsa. The chips are not homemade and we got the bottom of the barrel which was a lot of crumbs. We saw in the kitchen and they were refilling the chip bin after we got ours. I've never ate the mexican food so I can't speak for anything other than the b-fast tacos. They were good, and we would go back. Just not the best service around. read more

Marina's has become my breakfast spot of choice when I'm in Mew Braunfels. It's handy that it's near where I'm heading to work. But I'd go there even if out of my way. I'm pretty boring with my choices, I stick with the chorizo and scrambled eggs plate served with refried beans and tortillas. I haven't found a need to switch my order. The chorizo and eggs are cooked well, beans are tasty with a creamy texture, and tortillas have that right amount of crisp burn to them from cooking. Wait staff is great. Always greet me with a smile, and timely service. It's friendly service like this place that makes traveling much more pleasant. read more

Drive thru took 25 minutes to finally get to the window, then they told me it was gonna be another 20 minutes to get my food....50.. yes..50 minutes later and breakfast tacos were skimpy. Hardly any filling and the salsa... well... let's just say if you like bland tomato sauce to top off your flimsy unfilled taco then this is the place for you. Was not impressed with flavor and overall appearance of overpriced breakfast tacos. Oh and if you come after 11am the prices go up! Our sister-in-law Diana and brother-in-law Mark treated us to one of their favorite restaurants and when you walk in you're greeted with a huge smile and "Welcome please sit where you like" we sat at a corner table. The ambiance was very nice it gives you that grandma feeling and you are treated like family. I tried the Migas plate and was I in for a treat because everything was made fresh the amount of food was perfect and my sister-in-law said "Brother you need to try their tacos. I had barbacoa taco with cilantro and onions along with raw serranos, just looking at the taco made my mouth water. The taste of this meat was truly delicious and amazing, coffee was delicious especially when your the type that loves balck coffee and customer service was out of the park, I didn't get our waitress name but she was very busy and attended our every needs. Decent Mexican food. Service is a little slow. I got the stuffed avocado and my dad got the beef fajita lunch special. We both liked our meals. Next time I might get the queso on the side rather than on the avocado, since it didn't allow the breading to stay crispy. The tortillas were thick and fluffy. We have only had the tacos, which my kids love! But when you go through the drive thru, it's totally ridiculous. I gave three stars for the tacos and minus 2 for the drive Thur. We waited 10 minutes to get to the window and then pulled around the building to wait for two tacos, another 6 minutes. Yes I timed it all for the purpose of this review. In a nut shell, if there are more then two people in line don't bother. I rarely come here anymore because of this. There are other much more efficient restaurants about. read more

There was hair on my plate though received a 1.00 discount BUT the menu specified the huevos rancheros were 9.00 and was charged 10.00 so the 1.00 discount didn't really mean a lot. I won't be back. We have been several times usually for breakfast. Today decided to have lunch before running errands. Sat at the bar asked for a couple of Pacifico draft beers. No limes. Odd that a Mexican restaurant doesn't carry limes. Okay moving on order ala cart cheese enchilada and puffy taco. Got beef enchilada. It was fine. About 3/4 into the meal a worker came to the sink in the bar and proceeded to ring our towels into the sink and pour bleach. That is something you do NOT do when there are patrons at the bar eating...... I notice their hours have shortened to closing at 2 pm. Nice job on the remodel! The interior is bright and colorful. It boasts a new bar with plenty of seating. Beautiful mosaic and Saltillo tile have made the interior vibrant. Marinas has always had good food. The remodel was also applied to the menu too. They are serving a different salsa with their super light tortilla chips. The new salsa is chunkier and deeper in flavor - there's a pleasant kick that comes on slowly. They added a few new items and put more suggested add ons and upgrades on many dishes. One of the new appetizers is the Marinas 7 layer dip. Yes it's the same thing we have all eaten or taken to a pot luck.. But it's really good - right! The Rio Bravo appetizer is a nice sampler of 4 of the more popular items. Very tasty, perhaps a little overpriced. You have to try the Shrimp Diablo at this restaurant! I love the pork gorditas at Marinas. I only wish they used this pork or offered it as a choice on some of their other entrees. The stuffed avocado is excellent. Marinas food has flavor, unlike many of the Mexican restaurants in the area. They also serve sensible portions - because they aren't making up for lack of flavor. The service was a bit slow on the floor. Honestly, I think the culprit was the amount of business they had (3/4 full) the entire 3 hours we spent there. That would explain the "now hiring" sign in front. Overall, a really good choice for good Mexican foods in New Braunfels. read more

Beware!!!! Don't do it! THIS IS THE WORST MEAL i have had in the last decade. My friends and I were staying in an airbnb across the street. We tried this restaurant due to proximity. Upon entering the building we found it to be really really WARM, so warm that we opted to dine outside because it was cooler, in JULY! It took about an hour to receive our food after we ordered. None of our food was hot. Tepid at best. Most notable is that the food is AWFUL!!!!!! None of us had food that we enjoyed. Most plates still had half their contents when we left. The service was also slow, frazzled (it was NOT busy), and unapologetic when we were told they were out of basic items like rice AFTER we had waited on our food for the first twenty minutes. My husband and i have the worst heartburn/reflux/diarrhea, so bad that I'm writing this review at 4am AFTER I threw up. STAY AWAY! read more

I give it the A-OK for two reasons: food is ok and pretty darn good prices around $6 for a combo dinner plate. It was very clean but maybe because it wasn't very busy. If you just need some ok quick mexican food, NOT FAST FOOD, then you will save some cash and eat OK here. Not a whole lot of flavor. But they did have catfish and shrimp and I hear their breakfast is pretty good. Happy hour 4-7pm seems like it would be a cool place for a cheap margarita if you don't feel like makin one yourself at home. Worth a try i guess. I might go back for drinks or to try the breakfast. I am totally recommending Marina's to everyone I know! Being from Austin, in New Braunfels for a hospital visit, checked Yelp for breakfast places and found this excellent Nexican restaurant. Only able to review breakfast tacos. Average. Nothing special. Very little filling in the tortilla. Tried the tacos on two separate occasions and they left a lot to be desired both times. I went back to give the restaurant a second chance thinking they had an off morning, but no. It's really just not great taco for breakfast. With so many options in town tacos should be an artform.
