    Chicken flautas!
    Ray L.

OMG--I seriously can't stop smiling about the lunch I just had at Marina's. Initially, the homemade corn tortillas brought me here, but I am happy to report that the food is just as amazing. For lunch, I opted for the Chile Colorado with rice and beans. I would like to start with how tender the pork was. How long was this meat cooked? How did it manage to stay so tender and not fall apart until I decided it was time? Oh, and the tomato based sauce that the pork was swimming in? Heavenly! The aforementioned corn tortillas were a perfect companion to the Chile Colorado. I hate to admit it, but Marina's version of this dish might even be better than my late Grandmother's (May she rest in peace). My wife opted for two a la carte menu items, and she devoured them in record time. The first to arrive was the chicken flautas. Now these bad boys aren't the frozen variety that you can find at Costco -these flautas are the real deal. Hand-rolled and fried to perfection, the chicken inside managed to stay tender and juicy. The next a la carte item to show up was the cheese quesadilla, and I was a huge fan of the simplicity. I am ol' school when it comes to my quesadilla -I don't need any exotic cheeses or fancy accompaniments. Just fill up a flour tortilla with some Monterey Jack cheese, and I am good. The rice was flavorful, and the beans had a nice texture to them (not too runny or pasty). My lunch today was one of the best meals that I have enjoyed in a long time. The place is small, and the wait time can be substantial given the limited staff. I would recommend calling your order in about 20 minutes ahead of time if you only have an hour lunch break. I hope this review will convince at least one person to give this place a try. This family owned and operated business deserves the support of the community. You can expect delicious, homemade, authentic Mexican food at affordable prices. I plan on coming back on a weekly basis to sample some more of their tasty creations. I hope to see you there!

    Birria de res (beef)

If your looking for authentic mexican food and want birria this is your spot. This ain't no fake wanna be mexican restaurant this is real. Lol I was skeptical from the looks of the neighborhood and also their sign Outside that says Barbacoa de borrego (sheep) also Birria de Chivo (goat) y res (beef). I'm glad I walked in because the food is amazing ;)!!!! If your not 100%mexican then you should stick to Birria de res which is beef. you may be turned off by the texture and looks of the borrego( sheep) or chivo( goat) just play it safe stick to beef. If you had it before then go for it :) the order comes with 4 handmade tortillas which was just a teaser due to being so mexi I can eat 10 of those. which I did I pay extra for. I'm glad I have a spot to come to on Sundays good food and cold beer for my cruda aka hangover what more can i ask for;) with this cold weather ahead of us it makes it so much more yummy. My kids loved the free chips they bring you while you wait for your order. The chips came with refried beans and cheese. make sure if you don't like cheese to let them know when you place your order. my kids also had some carne asada tacos. They were also good. This place just felt like I was back home (Jalisco) also like I was eating at my house haha theirs not waiters or waitresses they will bring you your food and drinks you get up and get your own salsa etc. if you want more tortillas you have to ask them and pay extra because they won't read your mind. Just taught I ad all this so you an know what to expect. Enjoy:)

The nachos contained tomato, onion, cilantro, guacamole, jalapenos, radishes, carne asada, and cheese under fresh tortilla chips. All the ingredients were of high quality and tasted delicious together. Complimentary chicharrones de harina were served with hot sauce. This is the first time I've been to a restaurant that served complimentary chicharrones de harina. Chicharrones de harina are a Mexican snack that are made from fried wheat flour. Service was good as the workers were friendly and polite. They were short staffed so service was slower than if they were properly staffed. It was surprisingly busy around 2pm on a weekday.

We didn't come there for that and i think it'll be a long time before I go back. I love the food, but allowing these peddlers to annoy and abuse me customers is not okay. We totally forgot with everything we have going on that day that it was dine downtown. The menu looked good, but I was already set on getting pozole so we didn't order off the dine downtown menu. Plus, we've also been here plenty of times and love it already. We were really bummed to find out that you get charged for chips and salsa and they don't come out automatically without asking and it also the charge is dependent on how many people are in your party. Also, when the chips came out, there was only one salsa, which hasn't usually been the case. We're not sure if this was just some modifications because of dine downtown happening, but it was a bummer. We ordered the taquitos for an appetizer and those were OK..nothing special. I ordered the pozole verde with chicken, which is my favorite! And my best friend ordered the Carnitas plate. My posole was really good. It came with the side of the status and all the toppings. However, the Carnitas lacked flavor and were a bit dry. Neither of us would probably order that again. We also ordered a couple of blended mockaritas, one strawberry and one mango and both were tasty, but the strawberry would definitely needed another blend as there were a big chunks of ice. I think that because of the craziness with dine downtown..service and food quality we're a bit lacking, but I will always come back to Mayahuel for the pozole verde !

I visited this past Saturday and it was quite busy inside like it always is. The restaurant is large enough to fit a lot of people, so finding a seat isn't an issue. To order, you line up in front of the register and wait until they call you. Once it was my turn, I ordered a Super Burrito with Al Pastor, which is my favorite protein choice there. Usually I order 2 tacos with my burrito but I was saving room for Korean bbq that day! The Super Burrito comes with your choice of meat, rice, beans, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese. I also ordered a medium pineapple agua fresca, which paired perfectly with my burrito. After ordering, you're handed a number to take to your table so the servers know where to bring your food. As I'm waiting for my food, I helped myself to the self-serve chip bar. The chip bar is my favorite thing about the restaurant besides the food and quick service. I always get loads of both the white and red pickled onions, and some salsa to go with my chips. They offer many sides to choose from so that anyone can customize their meal to their liking. The pickled onions have the perfect level spice and acidity to them which helps with cutting down the greasiness you may get from a burrito. I also like to snack on them for fun too! The food comes out extremely quickly. When I finished placing my order and brought my number to my table, I went to the self-serve bar right after to get some chips. Not even 2-3 minutes later, I came back to my table with my burrito already there! The burrito was absolutely delicious and piping hot. It's the perfect size for me and eating it with the pineapple agua fresca and some chips makes it a perfect meal! Coming to La Favorita Taqueria is always a treat and I appreciate the quick customer service, self-serve bar, and delicious food! I highly recommend the Al pastor as your protein choice and honestly you can't go wrong with anything on their menu!
