Really bad service. Avoid salads. Frozen French fries. Just come if you want a beer, cocktails are bad also.

Appetizers were horrible.. Bruschetta was cold and calamari was not cooked all the way...

Had a wonderful dinner! Went on a Friday night and we were seated right away outside. Had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly, served hot and I throughly enjoyed it! We will be going back again. We were very surprised by the service, quality of the food and the price. read more

I loved this place. We went on a Monday evening so it wasn't overly crowded. We sat outside in a comfy outdoor patio type of table overlooking the water. Had the salt and pepper calamari for an app and it was amazing. Cooked perfectly. Then for entrees the fried shrimp and the bacon pineapple wrapped shrimp tacos. Both were equally delicious. waitstaff was on point and friendly. It was a really great dinner in a awesome little town for a fair price. Id give 5 stars BUT the tartar sauce they brought us was terrible. Not sure if it was bad, or they just added wayyy too much lemon, or maybe it was made with miracle whip mayo. I'm never one to write reviews because nothing really bothers me enough to waste my time writing a review that the staff and owners will disregard anyway, BUT after the other night and what I witnessed at this restaurant is enough to make me not ever want to return and to write a review. I was there for a couple hours give or take enjoying some cocktails with my boyfriend and my friend. It was the st Patrick's day parade so I know everyone was probably more intoxicated than usual but there is NO EXCUSE for what happened. The one taller bartender, i believe her name is Hailey, ASSAULTED a customer, punching her in the face while the poor girl was on her way out. Whether or not she was on the clock, the fact that Sal and Frank Guido allow trash to work behind their bar and for their company disgusts me and for that I will never return to any of their establishments ever again and i will direct everyone I know and come across to never go there. Such a shame that mariners is ruining their reputation by allowing trashy staff to be the face of their restaurant. Also such a shame that frank and sal allow people who assault their customers to work for them. Shame on you mariners. read more

LIke the Port Ewen reviewer, I am surprised by the large number of negative reviews. I ate there earlier this evening with 3 other people, and it was a lovely evening from start to finish. The hostess was welcoming and efficient; our reservation was found immediately. The dining room is well laid out; we didn't feel like we were on top of other diners or that we had to shout or lean in to be heard. Our waitress was a charming and helpful young woman who was attentive throughout the meal. Our party had chicken marsala, pan blacked tilapia, zuppa de pesce & a 2.5 lb. lobster. Everything was well prepared, tasty and served within a reasonable time. We had cheesecake, chocolate mouse & espressos, and the waitress bought us a bottle of Sambuca & 4 glasses w/coffee beans "on the house." The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the food wasn't outstanding, but I have absolutely no complaints about any of it, and all four of us cleaned our plates. I look forward to going again when the weather's warm -- if this dismal winter ever ends --- and enjoying another delicious meal seated outside. read more

We had a delicious lunch today at the Mariner's Harbor! The lobster bisque soup and walnut cranberry salad topped with grilled salmon was a huge hit. Great view being right next to the river. Service was outstanding! In fact they were so nice there that when we discovered that our batteries for our camera were no good, they went and found two AA's for us - no charge :o) My only grievance is when I was in the ladies room, a lady left the bathroom and turned out the light!!! I was in the pitch dark and had trouble finding my way to the switch again. I would recommend they get a new system for that. I did have a good story to tell my husband when I returned to the table! lol read more

I love this restaurant! I wish we didn't live so far from Kingston. Service is very friendly and attentive, beautiful location on the Rondout Creek with many tables outside. Food is great!! We had to wait a while for a table, but it was well worth it and that's testament to the popularity of this restaurant. While waiting, take a walk along the waterfront to read about the history of the area and to build up an appetite. Prices are reasonabe for the high quality food. Been there 3 times; would be more if we lived closer. read more

Overall my experience here was good. My friends and I decided to eat here on a whim. It was a nice day and asked to sit outside. The waiter quickly greeted us, asking if we preferred sparkling water or tap. I was somewhat surprised that our tap water was served in cheap plastic cups, like those you would have at a house party. I am not quite sure why that is seeing as one friend ordered a soda and it was served in a normal cup (not glass, but the hard plastic). Oh well. No big deal. Went here for light lunch. The hostess didn't feel like doing her job or maybe just thought herself above her post because her greeting and seating skills sucked. We sit, we order. Everything is fine until the raw dozen clam order arrives. Eleven of the clams are looking real yummy. The twelfth clam is a funky off color, so disturbingly off that we refused to eat it. Before we touched the plate, we called the waitress over to show her. Instead of being accommodating, she assures us that the chef would never serve it if it wasn't ok. Um, I'm thinking the chef ain't the one shucking the clams in the kitchen. We tell her we aren't going to eat it. No offer to replace the one funky clam comes forth from her. We eat all the clams except that one and when she comes back, we ask that it's replaced. She is still arguing with us so we invite her to eat it instead. She takes the platter away and comes back with a fresh properly colored clam. Was that so hard? She should have done that to begin with. She sucked. read more

I have one major issue with this establishment l, and it has nothing to do with their food. EVERY time my husband and I decide to go to mariners it's the same problem they aren't open to the public?! Ok I understand fund raisers and private parties, sure, but the last 8 times my husband and I have decided to give them our business we have successfully eaten there 1 time! This is ridiculous, but because we know that our timing is always "bad" with mariners to say the least so we gave them a courtesy call tonight we were told "the kitchen closes at 8pm" this was perfect! So we get in the car and drive the 45 min drive , we arrive at 7:23 on the dot (we order, and eat fast so this wouldn't be and inconvenience for them) we get inside and no one was at the host stand but a gentlemen that was not eager to stop his conversation with the pretty lady at the bar stood up and said "can I help you?" To which we replied "table for two please" he the said "oh no our kitchen is closed" to which I replied "no I called to make sure, I was assured your kitchen is open until 8" he then looks like (oh shit) and quickly says "oh umm there was an emergency!" So I turn around and leave , and now I know there food is really good, but IMO no food is good enough to be that picky to the public. Extremely dissatisfied!!! read more

What a nice place to sit in the sun and watch the boaters come and go on the nearby waterway. Two bridges nearby also add to the view. Except for the hostess who seemed to be disinterested the service was very good and friendly. Luna, our very nice waitress suggested the artichoke special appetizer and it was delicious. Add to that some cold beer and wine and we were well on our way to relaxation. My wife and both got grilled chicken topped salads and were pleased with everything. Also a nice touch was the freshly baked sesame loaf delivered before the meal. I wouldn't have served the silly butter packets but that is just a minor pet peeve. read more

Stopped by place for lunch while I was working in the area and I thought that the style the restaurant was quite nice. We sat outside in the wait staff was very attentive. I had the lobster bisque and grilled portobello sandwich and thought that they were both very quite tasty. If I'm in the area again, I will certainly stop by to try some other selections. read more

We had originally planned my mother's surprise 70th birthday party as a cruise on the river, catered by Mariner's Harbor/Frank Guido's Little Italy. A few days before the party, the weather forecast was torrential downpours, flooding and strong winds, not great weather to be on the river. They let us rent out the restaurant at the last minute. Marie, Jeff and the entire staff were helpful, professional and friendly. They made our Plan B a huge success!! read more

The one star is for location. Other than at...skip it. Food is terrible...any true foodie would agree. Service is so far below standard its shameful. The only thing this establishment has going for it is it's location on e beautiful historic waterfront....and it's patio on the city property. Lovely dinner today! Had a great dinner today at Mariners Harbor despite the weather...Had reservation for porch seating and although wasn't sure if it'd be too hot on the porch since the humidity was so high, the ceiling fans and open windows kept it rather comfortable although there is the inside air conditioned seating that is always an option too. The patio seating is nice, as well, but today was stormy so was nice to have indoor options. Various menu selections were all delicious and the staff was more than wonderful! Hostess (?Linda?) followed up a few times to ensure that we were all happy and that all was well with our meals and the waiter (sorry that I don't recall his name) was extremely patient and so attentive with the special requests from our table! Everything was delicious from the chicken parm, to the scallops, pulled pork, wraps, and raviolis special! All of our dishes were great! Can't say how many times we've been here and received such commendable service and delicious meals and it's certainly what keeps bringing us back! I went to this restaurant with my parents for their anniversary (Dad's pick). We drove a ways to get there for our 6:30 reservation. When we arrived, the hostess didn't seem to have a record of our reservation, and began communicating with someone on a walkie. She seemed to be flustered by something, but they didn't seem overwhelmingly busy. Regardless, it doesn't excuse her being rude and unapologetic for making us wait. Between her and two other hostesses that came out, we were still made to wait and none of them seemed to be in control of anything. If we hadn't driven so far to get there we would have turned around and left then. A different girl seated us and apologized, but she blamed the first girl which is completely unprofessional even if it were true. We were finally seated, and the nonsense continued. Our server was nice in a forced way, as opposed to being genuinely interested in providing a pleasant experience. I don't think she smiled once. Our appetizers took a long time, and our meals took almost an hour after that to arrive. When we asked what the hold up was, she decided to tell us that *insert lame excuse here*. It would have been nice of her to tell us that when it happened, instead of letting us wait for almost an hour with no explanation. She removed the cost of one of the appetizers to make up for it, and the food wasn't bad but not fantastic either. In general, the staff was young and inexperienced- I didn't see anyone over the age of 25, give or take- and there was no sign of a head waiter, senior staff or any management. The crowd was also young and annoying, very Jersey Shore wannabe (and I say that as a 30 y/o originally from the area). Parking was a pain, and the bathroom was tiny and annoying. The view was nice, as we were seated in the corner right next to a window, but that's about the only pleasant thing I can say for this place. I almost didn't take my family to the restaurant because of the reviews. I had eaten there before and was always satisfied. I thought that there must be a new cook or new management. It was my daughter's birthday, and we always celebrated at Mariner's Harbor, so we went, despite a snow storm, and I was pleasantly surprised. The seafood was fresh and piping hot. The service was good despite the skeleton crew. They didn't expect as many crazy people coming in as they did. The cappuccino machine wasn't working so they put up a fresh pot of coffee for us. The waiter even deducted the price of my daughter's dinner without my requesting it. All in all it was a good dining experience, and I recommend this restaurant for a good seafood/ fish dinner. We had zuppa di peace, fried shrimp, steamers, blackened tilapia and it was all good. read more

I have always enjoyed having lobster here, but I have to say last night was the worst lobster experience I've ever had. Three of us each ordered a 2lb lobster (at $45 each) and none of them were good... one came with a claw uncooked and had to be sent back and the other two had very thick shells with the weirdest consistency and taste I've ever had... we arrived with high expectations and all left very disappointed. I am giving it 2 stars because the ambiance and our appetizer were good, but sorry, we won't be coming back. read more

Went to mariner's Harbor for the first time on Friday night, because we were craving lobster. We had low expectations from the reviews but we made a reservation and tried it anyway. Happy we made a reservation, as a man at the bar was given a 40 minute wait. Fridays are busy, but it's a big place so there is room. The hostess was pleasant when we were first greeted. However, she was interrupted by who I suppose was the manager, a woman who was very rude, didn't acknowledge us and seemed generally displeased with life. Luckily, it was brief and we didn't speak to her. We were worried for a minute. Our server was very attentive. The wait times were long, 15minutes or more to receive beers and water. Appetizers tools 30 minutes to arrive, but were good and so we took the plunge with an entree. Order everything at once if you can on the weekend. It wasn't the best lobster we've had, but it was good. I thought the pricing was average. Strange to serve beer in plastic and water in glass, but our maybe there's a rule for outdoor dining. We expected the worst and the meal exceeded our expectations. read more

My husband has been here numerous times I had never been. We went tonight and he ordered crab legs and I ordered a burger (I'm allergic to shellfish) I ordered it well done it came out maybe 2 minutes away from being well I asked if they could put it back on so they did. I ordered it with American cheese and sautéed onions when it came back out 15 minutes later it was the same burger well done but the cheese and onions had been taken off! I asked where the extras I ordered were and they said they would make another one. By now my husband is done with his meal and we are ready to go but still no burger I tell the bartender forget about it we are ready to go and the other bartender says well I'm comping it what else does she want! I never even took a bite comping it? I leave to use the restroom and my husband is talking to some type of authority figure and I come back and hear what more do you want I'm taking it off the bill (I never even took a bite)!! They did me a favor by taking it off my bill!!! We will never come back here again and we are local always somewhere in downtown Kingston. read more

I recently had dinner at mariners harbor with my husband and two children. I was really impressed with the service. The hosts were very friendly and gave my children stickers and crayons which made waiting for our table much easier. We were very happy with our table on the porch, the view of the water was amazing and the server was very friendly. However we were very disappointed when the food came out. My husbands steak was overcooked, he asked for it med rare and it was well done. I had a lobster and it was overcooked and flavorless. My girls kids meals were good and came in a cute boat so they were happy. I will say the very nice manager named Emily came over after we complained and had our meals replaced, the second time around the steak was much better as was the lobster but still nothing impressive.Even though we were at first disappointed with the food, the staff really turned it around for us so we will try mariners again in the future and cross our fingers that the food is better. read more

Her dish was good......But the scallop's Mariner i ordered was "POISON"....The sauce covered the AMMONIA SMELL and TASTE enough for me too "WOOF" a couple scallop's down the hatch before the vapors permeated my nostrils.....Then the "GAG REFLEX" Kicked in. Excited to go out on a Friday evening, my date and I were extremely dissatisfied. Our service was so-so but the food was far from exciting. We ordered the lobster tail with soba noodles, which was supposed to be accompanied by a spicy sauce. The lobster was stingy and the sauce was entirely too sweet that the meal was hardly touched. My dish was a rib eye with shrimp. It was plated covered in the meats juice and was truly a catastrophe. Aside from the location, which wasn't appealing considering our location, this restaurant is a NO GO! Choose something less commercialized and check out one of the many small (probably delicious) restaurants the strand has to offer. read more
