Medium wings, large cheese pizza, and our 2 waters

Rounded out Father's Day at Mario & Salvo's. It was quiet when we first got there and ordered, but definitely picked up as we waited for our food. We chose to stay in and eat there and the food didn't take long at all to be done. We ordered a large cheese pizza and 12 medium wings. Pizza came out hot and perfect, we all loved it. The wings weren't bad either but weren't our favorite (we like our wings saucy). I don't know what everyone else thinks but pizza and wings is not the cheap dinner you expect it to be anymore. Large cheese, 12 wings, and one large soda came out to be roughly $40. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and we're able to relax there and enjoy the meal. There's a small area with enough seating for a few families to eat. The employees are very nice and very hardworking.

    Grandma Pizza

Since moving up to 'Cuse from Long Island, the one food I'd say I've craved the most is a traditional grandma slice of pizza. Different from the thicker and fluffier Sicilian style square slice, a grandma slice is a thinner, crispier style pizza that is layered with cheese and followed by dollops or drizzles of hearty, garlicky tomato sauce. Mario and Salvos has truly mastered a wonderful grandma style pizza- so much so, they were even named the best pizza in Syracuse and we'd have to agree. This was truly a phenomenal pie, and the wings were also crispy and delicious. We will certainly be back for more!

So far this is the most authentic NYC style pizza I've found in CNY. The pizza is thin, crispy, and light. The sauce is seasoned and the oregano is prominent, so if that's not your thing you may not like it. Personally, it's not a preference, but I did not mind it. What's not pictured is the Sicilian slice and buffalo chicken slice that I had. The Sicilian, despite looking dense was far from. It was very light. Shockingly light. It was crispy yet the dough was soft (not undercooked soft). I really enjoyed it. The buffalo chicken slice, while also thing and light did not do it for me. The chicken was on the drier side and lacked a strong buffalo flavor. I'll pass on this the next time. I loved the interior. The sign/menu on the inside was very nostalgic looking. Think old school NYC pizzeria. Loved it. Service was good, the owner checked up on everyone who was eating and asked how the quality of food was. I liked that he cared about it. So far, this is the best pizza I've found in CNY and I absolutely will be back.

    a slice of broccoli pizza

Just went to try a slice for lunch. Small pizzeria, but several long tables to sit down and enjoy your food. Hard to choose as they had lots of pies out for slices. They are small/ average size slices and I selected broccoli and cheese. They warmed it up and it just took a few minutes. The cheese was tasty and melty, the broccoli cooked nicely and it was thin and had that perfect cooked bottom from the pizza oven. Next time I'm going for a whole pie to eat fresh cooked directly out of the oven. I saw a few come out and looked amazing.

Buffalo chicken pizza.... It's the best

I love this place! I make a point to come here every time I'm in town. This place isn't fancy, there are a few places to sit, but their pizza rocks! What makes the pizza so good is the crust! The crust is the perfect amount of crunch with just a hint of salt on the bottom! The toppings are simple and good. This is straight forward NY pizza at its best!!!

The food is excellent ... but the owner has been straight-up rude when I've gone there about once a year. I used to think it was funny.

Started with Dolce Pesto Pizza | A harmonious blend of pesto and vodka sauces, artfully layered and topped with fresh mozzarella and parmesan cheese, then finished with our signature house spice blend for a perfect touch of flavor small pizza with sausage add. It was amazing. Beet Salad | Beet salad served over mixed greens with pickled onion, goat cheese, and walnuts, topped with olive oil, spouses favorite salad. Chicken Prosciutto | Egg-battered chicken, fresh mozzarella prosciutto di parma over rigatoni with a lemon butter sauce. Oh so delicious. Excellent flavor and an excellent choice. Visited for a celebratory dinner for 7. We had calamari and Utica greens for starters. The calamari was bland to my taste but the rest of the party liked them. The greens were fine, could've used some spice. Very small portion. I had the branzino oreganata. Fish was cooked well and the tomatoes on the side were tasty. The asparagus was bland and one piece was woody. Not bad overall. I will say that the entrees don't come with a soup or salad so that's something to be aware of. I'm not sure if this happens regularly but there was also a dude named Pinky playing keyboard and sax in the corner. Never thought I would hear smooth jazz versions of "Sweet Caroline" or "Danny Boy" or even "If I were a Rich Man" from Fiddler on the Roof. Certainly an international setlist. Overall a fine experience.
