Medium wings, large cheese pizza, and our 2 waters

Rounded out Father's Day at Mario & Salvo's. It was quiet when we first got there and ordered, but definitely picked up as we waited for our food. We chose to stay in and eat there and the food didn't take long at all to be done. We ordered a large cheese pizza and 12 medium wings. Pizza came out hot and perfect, we all loved it. The wings weren't bad either but weren't our favorite (we like our wings saucy). I don't know what everyone else thinks but pizza and wings is not the cheap dinner you expect it to be anymore. Large cheese, 12 wings, and one large soda came out to be roughly $40. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and we're able to relax there and enjoy the meal. There's a small area with enough seating for a few families to eat. The employees are very nice and very hardworking.

Since moving up to 'Cuse from Long Island, the one food I'd say I've craved the most is a traditional grandma slice of pizza. Different from the thicker and fluffier Sicilian style square slice, a grandma slice is a thinner, crispier style pizza that is layered with cheese and followed by dollops or drizzles of hearty, garlicky tomato sauce. Mario and Salvos has truly mastered a wonderful grandma style pizza- so much so, they were even named the best pizza in Syracuse and we'd have to agree. This was truly a phenomenal pie, and the wings were also crispy and delicious. We will certainly be back for more!

So far this is the most authentic NYC style pizza I've found in CNY. The pizza is thin, crispy, and light. The sauce is seasoned and the oregano is prominent, so if that's not your thing you may not like it. Personally, it's not a preference, but I did not mind it. What's not pictured is the Sicilian slice and buffalo chicken slice that I had. The Sicilian, despite looking dense was far from. It was very light. Shockingly light. It was crispy yet the dough was soft (not undercooked soft). I really enjoyed it. The buffalo chicken slice, while also thing and light did not do it for me. The chicken was on the drier side and lacked a strong buffalo flavor. I'll pass on this the next time. I loved the interior. The sign/menu on the inside was very nostalgic looking. Think old school NYC pizzeria. Loved it. Service was good, the owner checked up on everyone who was eating and asked how the quality of food was. I liked that he cared about it. So far, this is the best pizza I've found in CNY and I absolutely will be back.

    a slice of broccoli pizza

Just went to try a slice for lunch. Small pizzeria, but several long tables to sit down and enjoy your food. Hard to choose as they had lots of pies out for slices. They are small/ average size slices and I selected broccoli and cheese. They warmed it up and it just took a few minutes. The cheese was tasty and melty, the broccoli cooked nicely and it was thin and had that perfect cooked bottom from the pizza oven. Next time I'm going for a whole pie to eat fresh cooked directly out of the oven. I saw a few come out and looked amazing.

Hands down Mario & Salvo is in my top two pizza places that serve NY Style (pizza oven not coal) in the Syracuse region (maybe further). Growing up in New Jersey and just across the river from NYC I feel pretty confident in saying that their pizza does remind me of my childhood pizza joints. Great crust, crispy but with had a nice fold and chew to it. Sauce had great flavor and the cheese was not over cooked. I have only ordered pizza but look forward to trying more on their menu and updating!

The food is excellent ... but the owner has been straight-up rude when I've gone there about once a year. I used to think it was funny.

They have a rotating menu that they list on their website (www.saltcitybread.com). By the time I got there mid-afternoon, they were sold out of their seeded (sesame, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds) sourdough. Plain sourdough loaves are $10 and the sourdough with inclusions are market price and range from $12-14 it seems. I got their chocolate chip cookie (with flaky salt from Syracuse Salt company) for $3.25, and it was delicious!! Thick cookie with crisp edges and a soft, fluffy center. Huge chocolate chips too! The flaky salt brings a nice balance as well. Will definitely be back!

This little bakery is very cute and offers a selection of different breads as well as sweets. The service is excellent and welcoming. These people know how to do bread WELL. I have tried their italian bread, focaccia, and their braided sesame bread-- which are all phenomenal! They have some sandwiches on their menu as well as some coffee available. On this occasion we ordered: - Braided sesame bread: this is my absolute favorite bread here. The presentation is beautiful, and the bread reminds me of a more savory challah with some salted olive oil hints that remind me of focaccia. The softness of the bread and the density make it so satisfying. It is perfect with both sweet and savory pairings. Super addictive--a loaf usually does not last longer than a day in our household. - Turkey sandwiches: we got a whole sandwich split into two halves. Size is pretty generous and one half is definitely enough for one person. This sandwich, although simple, stands out for its high quality ingredients. It came with generous sliced turkey that was not too salty, delicious gouda cheese, high quality mayo, fresh tomatoes and lettuce. The white bread is made in-house and feels super fresh and fluffy. They were super nice and gave us two bags of chips to compliment our dinner even though we technically ordered only one sandwich. We got it split into two separate containers and my fiancé and I each got our own pickle! Perfect option to get to-go. - Peanut butter cookie: I initially wanted to try the chocolate chip but they sadly ran out. However this was actually an amazing cookie. The thickness was perfect, not too thick and not too thin. It had nice bits of peanut butter and the cookie itself was super buttery, soft but with a nice caramelized crust, and not too sweet. There was a surprise Reeses PB cup in there which was very pleasant. Very good cookie! Cannot wait to come back and try their chocolate chip one. Overall, this bakery is a 10/10 and a very great asset to the area. Even though their selection is limited, I think they really focus on doing the few things they do VERY well. I love how local and homey this business feels. Their baked goods are all amazing and I will continue supporting them whenever I am in Manlius. Highly recommend Salt City Bread! You will not regret it.
