First off people very nice. Signs at door and menu saying higher pricing. The menus are not correct for pricing. Ordered some slices should have just ordered a fresh pizza as not much different in the cost but who knows what the new pie would cost. Not the reason for 3 stars I understand the higher price right now. Pizza was just not good, bland tough, just cold pizza. Another piece I added topping. They just threw a handful of. The toppings in one spot and added cheese. Cheese barely melted and topping not even hot. This was walking from restaurant to car, and started eating it. Should have went back in. My husband and I went there for a late lunch on Saturday. We were driving around and seeing what was in the area .The restaurant was clean and quite. The service was prompt, got our drinks , placed our order. Where I grew up in WV, pepperoni rolls are a family favorite so we ordered theirs to compare. It was beautiful! Went to out Outback and waited an hour and a half and they kept pushing us back on the waiting list for a Party 10. Called Mario's and they got us right in. Food was exceptionally good and the service is outstanding. It made the wait and disrespect that we had to go through Outback easier to tolerate. This was for me the best Italian food in NC and the best I have ever had. My favorites were the white clam sauce which was excellent and a huge portion with a lot of clams. Dont pass on the garlic knots, they are worth the trip alone served piping hot with a garlic butter and cheese mix and an excellent red dipping sauce. The one meal that blew me away was the mussels in red sauce, omg was that a great combination. The red sauce is one of the best I have ever had so its good on anything especially fresh mussels. Surprised us! Rocky Mount pizza? We had the Hawaiian pizza and a cannoli. Pizza was a great tasting NY style crust and toppings were generous. One problem- the fresh basil was black and inky. Did not taste bad but looked ugly. The cannoli was tasty dont need the chocolate syrup. Does Sysco supply cannoli now? :-). Good delivery experience with uber eats. read more

It was a freezing cold and rainy evening, and we were in a hotel about a mile away. We came here because it was the first place we could find and we were starving. It turned out to be a good thing. We were the only ones there because of the weather, so service was great. We got a pizza and a side of garlic rolls. The garlic rolls were exceptional! Very, very tasty. We got the pizza with half-mushrooms, half-plain and well-done. They accommodated all those requests perfectly. The pizza was very good and the price extremely reasonable. Mario's is in like a strip mall, and there is plenty of free parking in the lot. This restaurant was very clean, the service was friendly, and it was overall a great dining experience. I don't live in NC, but if I find myself here again, I would most definitely return here. read more

Mario's serves a variety of Italian food to include pizza, Calzones, Stromboli, and subs. Today I had the cheese and steak deluxe sandwich, fries, and a drink. The cheesesteak was fantastic. He looks and the camera and says I went into and Italian Restaurant and ordered spaghetti they served me egg noodles with ketchup. Mario's is not quite that bad but it's very close. I ordered veal Parmigiana and manicotti. The menu said homemade sauce. I asked the server if the sauce was genuinely homemade. When she paused before answering I knew I was about to hear a misrepresentation. Of course once the meal arrived it was blatantly obvious the sauce was a bulk distributor product. It was tasteless. The cheese that was melted on top must have been some ultra bland version of provolone because it was bad. Of course this was the upside of the meal. The veal was served in rubbery chunks of unappetizing breading that tasted like it had been sitting in the freezer for weeks. To add insult to injury the service was abominable. Our server had a personality like a bucket of turnips. I am not sure why Italian restaurants throughout the country are so hit and miss. It literally is the easiest food in the world to make. Definitely come here for pizza! We were in town for a volleyball tournament so we had a large crowd with us. The staff worked hard to get us seated quickly, drinks and appetizers then meals ordered, drinks and food delivered and somehow managed to keep our many separate checks organized. I ordered a beer and lobster lasagna. My daughter ordered spaghetti with meatballs. A couple seated with us at the table ordered white pizza and pepperoni pizza. The pizza was really good. Perfect crust. Thin, but not too thin so that everything slid off and folded on itself. Not greasy, but not dry. Just the right amount of cheese. The lobster lasagna also had large shrimp and mushrooms. It was really yummy but very rich. I needed bread or something to break up the richness. The bread came out when everyone was almost done eating. We ordered some cheesecake to go. The place was hopping with people picking up take out orders. New to the area and first time customer. The good first, we ordered a large pizza, and it was really good. Probably the best we have had in the area as of yet. The bad...we ordered half banana peppers, was even repeated the order when I picked it up. Got it home, green peppers, no biggie, but not what we ordered. When I lived in rural ENC, I always came to Mario's. There is just something about their marinara that makes me feel like I just stepped into Napoli or some other amazing Italian city. Frankly, it's so good, they charge you 75 cents to take a little 3oz container home, but it's worth it. I highly recommend their stuffed pizza if you want to share and have the time to wait for it (as it's made to order). Their house Italian dressing is also a great choice. I can also recommend the chicken cheesesteak and the antipasto salad. The waiter never came by to check on us unless we called for him when we needed a refill. When it came time to pay, we gave him our cards and he never came back. Not sure why this restaurant has these bad reviews & false claims. My good friend & I were in the area & very hungry & saw Mario's on our way to our destination & decided to stop & eat there. The restaurant was super clean, I checked the area around my table as well as the walls & found no roaches. The waiter was extraordinarily nice & was taking all the necessary precautions due to the pandemic, COVID-19. The food was nice & warm, as well as up to par with flavor. Well the servers were good and prompt. We had a large party of folks. The caprese salad was not what we were traditionally used to, to be honest it was very lacking. The entrees were good but middle of the road food. No one had pizza so I can't comment on the quality of the pies. We found this restaurant in a quick overnight stay off I95. I was drawn by the promise of their garlic knots from another reviewer and they didn't disappoint. Soft, garlicky goodness made that much better with their marinara. As a (mostly) vegan, I was excited to see several options under their pasta heading to choose from. I ordered the Penne Puttanesca with eggplant, mushroom, garlic and capers. If I lived here, I'd be ordering this dish weekly. Heaven! I didn't have a salad, but tried my Mom's as she said the House dressing was tasty. Agreed. Two of our kids ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo that they praised highly. The other, a 10" pepperoni pizza that he finished quickly. Enough said there. This place is not a fast food place, but I think the food and huge portions was well worth the wait.
