We've lived in the Daytona Beach area for almost 5 years and have driven by this restaurant multiple times. One weekday night we decided to try it out, and we're happy we did. First off, the restaurant is a lot larger inside than you would think seeing it from the outside. The colors are warm, the seating either bar, high tables, tables or booths. And, at the end of our dinner the restaurant was full, but it wasn't noisy. All of the staff were very friendly. We were promptly seated in one of the booths and perused the menu. We were offered a choice of bread or garlic bread. We opted for the garlic bread. Soft, warm, with just the right amount of garlic and butter. We started with the stuffed artichoke. I think we would have liked it better if the artichoke were a bit more "meaty." Most of the leaves were just breading with a sliver of artichoke. We were then brought our dinner salads. They were large. Lots of fresh ingredients. You could almost make a meal of just the salad. My husband had the lasagna which came with a meatball, and I had the Mario Combo which includes chicken parmesan and lasagna with a side of spaghetti. The servings were generous and hearty. The sauce very good. I judge Italian restaurants by their sauce, and this one was a nice thick blend of tomatoes and spices. What was interesting is that the spaghetti sauce seemed just a bit sweeter. We needed carryout containers for the leftovers and they packaged them very nicely. Took a star off for the stuffed artichoke which wasn't very flavorful. Also while the food was good, there was something almost sloppy about the presentation. Prices are about right, and you can get a discount if you sit at the bar or on the high tops... We'll come back again... we'll just make sure we're really hungry!

My first visit to Mario's and boy have I been missing out, this place has been dishing out delicious Italian dishes since before I was born and it's apparent the locals know this and flock here. The decor and ambiance is how I imagine a Italian Restaurant should be, from the lighting to the linen table cloths, great service and amazing food served hot from the kitchen. Our server was exceptional, not overly attentive but we never waited for anything. The courses were timed perfectly, there's no doubt this comes from years of experience, training and a well managed operation which is very rare these days. We chose a variety of things and none disappointed the portions were plentiful and filling and definitely makes you want to plan your next visit to explore the menu. This visit's feast included - a loaf of garlic bread hot from the oven, seafood stuffed mushrooms (a must try), a chilled house salad with Italian dressing, a Veal Rib Chop perfectly medium rare, roasted potatoes, spaghetti with sauce, lasagna, chicken parmigiana and then finally a box for the leftovers. The entire experience was wonderful and no misses, I'm definitely not going to be a stranger here, it's probably the best Italian dining experience I've had in the area hands down...

We had a nice time with our friends. The place was very busy and was told the bar area has been renovated. The bar looked great. They had plenty of staffing. Our waiter Dan was 5 star. The food was good. The sauces had great flavor. I really loved the garlic bread. It wasn't the best Italian food I've e had in town. I liked it but didn't love it. The waiter made it a better experience. I would recommend this place and would be coming back. I thought the bill was very fair. The bonanza wine was very good. The salads were very good. Loved the egg and pepperoni in it.

Had an amazing time! I think our server's name was Debbie (apologies if not!) and everything was great.

Tommy's birthday. Delicious food, great service.

While the patio is nicely designed and has comfy wicker chairs, the parking lot traffic does take a bit from the ambiance. But hey, how often can I dine outside in Florida without dying of heat or mosquitos or drowning in a downpour. They had a ton of delicious specials going but I like to try places for the first time based on my favorite dishes. However, I can't pass up octopus carpaccio and while it was delicious, the slices stuck to the plate which the waiter attributed to being outside where it warmed up. Next time, calamari for sure! I got the fettuccine bolognese as I'm still chasing a sauce that isn't just ground beef added to marinara. I'm happy to say it's the best bolognaise I've found in Central Florida! Their pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was rich and not overly tomatoey or sweet like most places. It also was fully tossed so it clung to the noodles. Dad was in a pizza mood but was definitely temped by the veal chop special. He ended up with the all in pie and I knew it was a winner when he ate the crust. He's very picky about crust and this hit the mark on texture and taste! So yes, the love this group has for Don Giovanni is real and if you haven't tried it I definitely recommend it!

The server was nice tried his best to make the experience better BUT CHARLIE the so called manager.... wow he needs to either get some new training or be fired. He completely just stared at me the entire time i felt so out of place being the only black customer there and he made me feel like i didn't belong there. Those cold eyes were staring at me the entire time. My partner got his soup ( it was the wrong soup mind you) either way his soup was delicious but me I had to wait 15 minutes from mine to come out. I ordered the mushroom soup it was so sour it tasted old and straight out of a can. So that's the first thing that I had to send back....... the next thing was our entrees...... my partner's penne vodka was so salty and my chicken alfredo was so watery and lacks flavor. Charlie the manager went to every other table to ask how their dining experience was going and skipped over our table not once but twice and continue to give me dirty looks the entire time we were there. You would think as a manager you see that your customers are sending food back you would think that you would come over and say anything at all to try to rectify the situation but nope. As we left the restaurant Charlie gave me one last dirty look and did not apologize for our evening said absolutely nothing to us as we walk past him to leave this terrible restaurant. The server did mention that the chef was on maternity leave and I thought okay maybe we can come back and try the food again when the chef is actually there to cook the meals to change the ratings but after Charlie the so-called manager once again said absolutely nothing to us I will never step foot in there again. I do not recommend this place to my fellow black community.

My hubby had been working outside all day and asked if we could wait for an inside table. The host personally went and cleared/reset a table for us. We had the lamb, a filet and a ny strip. All were cooked perfectly. The standout for me was the fried chicken. You can add a breast or thigh to any meal. I had a thigh and it was one of the best I have had. Crispy, tasty and the chicken itself was tender and juicy. When I come back I am definitely ordering the chicken! If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try. There is free valet parking, which is helpful since there is not a lot of parking. The valet were hustling! Did I mention the heat?
