When driving back to LA from Vegas over Memorial day weekend, I noticed my car beginning to wobble/shake, and with two hours left of our journey I was concerned enough to want to find an auto shop nearby just to drop in for an inspection before going any further. As stressed as I was, as soon as I entered I was immediately put at ease by the two gentlemen at the front desk. I'm not knowledgeable with car issues, and I was worried that the way I would have to describe my own suspected car issues felt insignificant and admissible, especially when I wasn't sure if there even was an issue or if it was just me overreacting--but the guys working that day were so kind and validating to my concerns, and even found that one of my tired had started separating! Long story short, had I continued driving it would have blown and could have been catastrophic. But they were incredible at locating the issue in such short time, and replacing my tire at a really small cost. At the start there was going to be an inspection cost, but when they discovered it was the tire issue, I was only charged for the tire change. For that, I couldn't have been more thankful. They really were my mechanical angels, on that memorial day. Sure the cost was reasonable, but I'm most thankful for how comfortable and at ease they made me feel, which is a rare feat when you're a stressed out female at an auto shop. We called yesterday to see if they can do a hub a bearing pressed in and they told us over the phone they could do it. We provided the parts. They said they would do it and give us a call in the morning. We woke up the next morning and they told us that they don't do big trucks.... They didn't tell us then and there. He hung up on me. I called back, he put the fax machine tone on. I called once again to see if I could get help from someone else. As a loyal customer of Mariposa Tire and auto Center, I went in for a couple of repairs. Attached is a legal written estimate that I was given, along with a picture of my light that was on that I asked to be repaired. My complaint is I asked for the left front TPMS sensor to be replaced. When I went to pick the car up, I asked had it been done and the same person who works the front desk told me yes. I leave the shop and on the way down the Cajon Pass that very light came back on again! I called Mariposa Tire auto Center and ask, what happened? My light is back on, did you fix my sensor? He told me he forgot which one it was so he fixed the left rear sensor. I never authorize for my left back TPM sensor to be repaired and was never made aware there was a problem with it. I asked was it too much for him to call me and confirm which one I requested to be fixed since he forgot, and could not remember which one to fix. He told me he does not have time and hung up in my face. I go back up to the shop the next day to speak with the owner Shawn and before I can even tell him what my situation was, Shawn told me his worker already told him what the problem was and that is between his office manager and I. Over the weekend, my 2012 Volkswagen Jetta's EPC and Check Engine lights came one. Like many of you in the high desert, I panicked because I was already dreading the idea of trying to get my car through the pass to a repair specialist within the heart of the Inland Empire (e.g., Ontario, San Bernardino, etc). By Chance, as I was doing google research on my vehicle's problem, the website repairpals.com suggested a few sites close to my area who could support my vehicle. The first one they suggest was with a location I had visited before, and did not have a pleasant experience as it relates to cost of repairs and wait-time, so I ignored that request. This facility does not have restrooms for their customers. I had major repairs done here and spent almost $1,000. I also waited over 3 hours when they told me 2. I'm a Marine Corp veteran. Gonna see if they have veteran discount even though they advertise that they do. I had an honest mechanic that I gave my business to for 15 years. Unfortunately, he died at a young age yesterday. Crooks crooks crooks. I took my vehicle in to get a full time up I'm talking timing chain water pump, spark plugs wires distributor, fluid change and to fix my temperature gauge and brake booster. They qouted me $850 and then when I picked up my vehicle they charged me $947 and only changed the spark plugs and flushed the radiator nothing else was done. They charged me almost a thousand dollars to change the spark plugs I could have changed those for fifty I wanted everything else changed. But all they did was change spark plugs not the wires not the distributor nothing. These guys are as crooked as they come. They should be shut down. read more

It is challenging at times to find a shop that knows how to align cars well for the general public. It is even harder to find an alignment shop that works with the customer to help them remedy their awkward car movements on the road when their car should be driving straight or should have a center steering wheel and not one that veers to the left or the right. Even though a shop might say that they know what they are doing, customer service/ treatment is a huge key with pure honesty. Simon and David hit it right on the money for me when I went over there. They welcomed me without hesitation and even offered to help out with food and drink if I was hungry and/ or thirsty. I explained to them what the car was doing and what I wanted it to do, with specific settings to make the car go straight with the steering wheel aligned center. They were even nice enough to explain what the settings were like before making any immediate changes. A few calculations later, they aligned the car and now the car is driving straight with a centered steering wheel. Thank you again Simon and David!!! You have helped my wife and I to a great extent. Because this customer service is second to none, we truly recommend this location to others. He hesitated & looked at us like we were idiots. We used the restroom and I came back & he was talking to someone on the phone about some serial numbers, sorry sir, we didn't steal the car. The lady inside was so rude asking us for our ID, and then asking if we lived at the address on our ID. No lady....our drivers license doesn't have our correct address... ?? I came across Mariposa Tire and Auto on RepairPal. From the moment my call was answered, I was very pleased with their customer service. I spoke with, Dan, and explained to him that my car was completely dead due to the battery and alternator. I initially requested to schedule an appointment to bring it in over the weekend because my husband would be off (since I had my 6-month old son with me). However, Dan suggested I have it towed in the same day and that I did not have to be present. He setup a tow and gave me a time frame on when they would be arriving. Once my car arrived at the shop, Dan gave me a call to notify me and went over what was going to be done. He then later called me that day to inform me my car was done but would have to be picked up the following morning due to a hold up on the warranty company. I was BLOWN AWAY at how fast and smooth the whole service/turnaround was. This was the most stress-free auto shop encounter I've ever had. I've known Sean (then owner)for approx 3 years,he has worked on my stepson cars a few times and he has never complaint about their work,can't say I blame him because in my opinion Mariposa's Shop has reasonable prices. I took my Challenger in today for front end brakes ( I called him yesterday to get a quote )the difference between the dealership was quite a bit less. Btw the dealership was going to put on semi-metalic pads but Sean said he was going.to use ceramic pads which is what the challenger came with when new. I highly recommend Mariposa's Shop for his honestly and reasonable prices. His wife is always in a cheerful mood and noticed today Sean hired a new employee named Mike,he stood out as a very professional person and knowledgeable as well. I went to the Mariposa Tire and Auto because my car was over heating, not accelerating and the engine light was on. They did the diagnostic test and said it was my spark plugs and ignition coils that needed to be replaced. I picked the car back up and it had the same problems. I had to take it to another place and they told me it was my motor. I asked for a refund from the owner Shawn because they didn't fix the problem. He went back and forth with me saying I wasn't getting a refund. He refused to give me a refund telling me they don't give out refunds for parts and labor. read more

I was driving over to Las Vegas when I got a check engine light on my car I decided to pull into this shop I found on my phone. It was perfect because it was right off the freeway. The minute I walked in I was greeted by the mechanic and his wife. He checked and found it was a sensor that had gone out. I was so lucky because he also caught that one of my tires had threads showing which I didn't notice. He was able to replace the tire too for far less than American tires. They couldn't fix the car but get the money!!! Here is the story... I got a check engine light on a long road trip from LA to Michigan, my 2003 Honda Civic was running good but there was the light, and the computer didn't let the engine to go over 3500 rpm. When I called my usual mechanic and described the symptoms, he said it was OK, if I go slow, but it would be better to show the car to a mechanic . This place was the closest one. They scanned the computer of my car and said that my car needs the Camshaft Sensor to be changed. When I asked if the problem is on the sensor, or maybe on other thing he said it is the camshaft sensor and the car will be fixed after changing the sensor. They changed it in 1 hour for $160. when I sit in the car the light was off and push the accelerator a little bit hard to test it in the store, up to 3500 rpm, which was nothing for a good working car, the light turned on again. I showed him. First, he said I shouldn't push accelerator that hard (!) after a small negotiation he was convinced that even if I push harder, there shouldn't be an error. Anyways, I waited there for two more hours, he searched google, read some forums (!) and then asked me to bring the car back tomorrow and said he needed the to close the store for that day. Spending the night there would cost more than the money that I paid to him, and I went on my way.. As a conclusion, it was just a waste of 160 dollars for me. If I were this mechanic, I would definitely refund the money since I couldn't fix the car... read more

I am very confused by the negative reviews this place is getting. After discovering a loud noise coming from my girlfriends passenger side front tire, we found them through repair pal where they had a very high rating. Daniel helped us and was very detailed in explaining everything and was able to give us a generous deal because the parts needed were on sale when he could have easily just charged full price. Before we went I called and told them that I think it's the strut and he was very knowledgeable about it over the phone and told me to bring it in for a free diagnostic (because I had a good feeling about what it already was). Turns out all of her struts were really bad so we had them replaced. Driving in the car is now a night and day difference. Of all the shops I've been to and all the mechanics I've dealt with this place was by far the best. Would refer people here in a heart beat. read more
