Five carryout thin pizzas from this location.
    Howard L.

This is a carryout only location. They provided a batch of 5 very fresh, very delicious, and very piping hot thin pizzas for my grand-darling's birthday party. This included 2 cheese, 1 sausage, 1 pepperoni, and 1 Lou's. They were all 100% tip-top delicious and we were very happy. Lou Malnati's is the best! Thank you!

It didn't used to be like this.

As a lifelong Lou Malnati's fan, I've always debated with people about how good their deep dish is. But after today, I'm officially done. This isn't the first time we've been disappointed by the Northbrook location, but today we decided to give them one more shot. Big mistake. What you see in the photo is what they're now calling "deep dish"--but honestly, it felt more like thick bread with some toppings thrown on top. It didn't used to be like this. I talked to a few friends who frequent other locations, and they assured me it's not the same elsewhere, so maybe Northbrook is just an anomaly. If you're looking for a good bread-based pizza, Pequod's is a much better option. But I don't expect the bread like version at Malnati's. I think the frozen Malnati's pizzas you get from the grocery store are way better than what I have had here. Apologies to my old friend Stu Cohen and this one, but wanted you all to get the feedback. ---

    The pick up desk

I love their deep dish Chicago pizza, way better than the competition, and they'll ship it on dry ice anywhere the mail goes. Pickup or delivery from their location in Northbrook, and even though it only has a bench, the ambience is top notch, a real taste of Chicago. Friendly and attentive staff.

Came in on a weeknight for a carryout order that I had placed earlier in the day via their app. It was very easy to arrange the time for the pickup. I ended up coming a bit earlier and was able to get the my pizza order a few minutes ahead of my scheduled time. This time I ordered the Lou's White Pizza, which is only available for a limited time. The white pizza has a cream based sauce, no tomato sauce and has spinach, onions and mushrooms on it. I added in sausage which is their iconic sausage layer. The white pizza was delicious and definitely fit well with all the ingredients, I do wish there was a bit more spinach though. I ordered it half baked to finish in the oven at home.

    Yum!

Coming home, was pleasantly surprised to see food from Lou Malnati's! Dinner is all taken care of!!! A thin vegetable pizza, Couple of the Famous Deep Dish: Cheese, Sausage Pepperoni, Spinach with Sausage and mushrooms, the infamous Lou's Salad with Dressing. Added Cholula & Hot Giardinera. I was thinking when we would again order form Lou's, but still appreciative of my Bride doing this. Next Time, Extra Sausage & Extra Garlic with Lou's Salad to go or eat in with their fried calamari.

Staying at a hotel? Skip! No napkins, plates or cutlery. Won't cut, either!

Staying at a "airport hotel" before catching our flight for the night. Decide to get some real Chicago deep dish and decide to check out Lou's. Bad choice. Apparently, they don't believe they should send paper plates, cutlery or napkins to their customers dining at hotels. In our online notes, we requested they cut our pizzas into slices, however, our pizzas all arrived uncut. It was quite a struggle for us to even find a knife at our hotel. I called to voice our frustration and they just told us, sorry in a laughing/mocking tone. As for the taste? My husband asked how I liked it and I told him it reminds me of a "lean cuisine" pizza. Not necessarily a slam (I enjoy lean cuisine pizzas when watching calories) but a compliment to their pizza? Eh....

    Cooking instructions- so easy!

Chicago deep dish shipped to my home here in LA?! Fuggedaboutit!! I was so skeptical - but omg it really was fantastic!! We tried Lou's years ago when visiting Chicago and absolutely LOVED it!! In fact, we loved it so much we ended up buying a gift card bc we were so sure we'd be back - but several years later we still hadn't returned and we STILL had the gift card! I had forgotten all about it until I cleaned out my office and found it again! I was thinking it was probably a useless card at this point - but I was so excited to see that they offer shipping all over the US - AND the gift card actually still worked omg lol!! So I ordered 2 deep dish sausage and pepperoni pies via their website - I was just so happy I was still able to use the gift card! Ordering online was really easy and straightforward. And the pizza got to my place in just 2 days! Well packaged on dry ice - it was still frozen solid! Apparently they flash freeze the pies. Easy cooking directions - popped it in the oven and BAM - Chicago deep dish from the comfort of my couch! It was honestly just as good - the crust was perfect - that crunchy but soft texture - I don't know how they do it! And the perfect amount of gooey cheese - not too much sauce - nice chunks of tomatoes, perfectly bite size! And tons of meat!! Omg it's so good! Pizza is one of my faves and this one still sits in my top 5!! They're a little pricey - but worth it!

Offered delivery from here which arrived a little later expected, but fairly warm still. The pizza was prepared well, in as expected from Lous with a slightly more crisp crust than expected. The salad was full of lots of bacon bits and had fresh lettuce. The cookies were aromatic and delicious as expected.

I did a pickup order last week for a deep dish cheese, deep dish pepperoni, and a spinach pizza. The order was ready when I got there. The staff was friendly and quick. It was a small spot, just enough space for a pickup pizza place but not really much seating to eat in. The pizza looked delicious and was nice and hot. The flavor was just ok to me, nothing super special! I added some crushed red pepper to give it a little spice and flavor. Overall it was an ok pizza.

The portions served are full portions even though the menu is prix fixe. We enjoyed the $45 menu option. We chose the burrata and calamari appetizers. Both were good although the breading on the calamari needed more seasoning. For main courses my husband ordered the gnocchi and I had a pizza. The gnocchi were very pillowy. The pizza was good but too many vegetables made the under crust soft requiring cutlery to eat it. We finished with the cannoli dessert option. The cannoli was good but the ricotta tasted like plain ricotta. The service was attentive and friendly and the dining room has a casual vibe. We enjoyed our meal and will return especially in warmer weather when I believe they have outdoor seating.

Among the best restaurants. Almost everything y they do it the best way possible. A big shout out…read moreto the cooks for the well done gyros and well done fries on request. The staff is great and knowledgeable. Two small things they could do better, the Greek salad dressing needs more oil and less vinegar and it seems that happens when you mix a batch of salad dressing it separates and it's hard to get the correct amount of oil and vinegar in the small plastic containers, the work around for that is to put a little of "gum" in the dressing so the oil and vinegar does not separate and you solve two issues one is getting the right mix in the small containers and second is to give the customer a dressing that stays mixed so every bite has the right amount of oil and vinegar because now some bites are oily and some are vinegary. Second thing that could be improved is the garlic bread, it's now a very chewy and tough piece of bread very hard to eat, my view is there are two other choices, you could buy commercial frozen garlic bread likes Texas toast put a slice or two in a regular bread toaster and you would give a tasty piece of garlic bread with your dinners the other choice would be to get a commercial bread toaster like the ones in hotel breakfast buffets or the ones Dunkin donuts uses for toasting bagels the ones with conveyor belts. You would have to experiment with the type of bread you would use but you should be able to get a tasty piece of garlic bread. Don't forget your staff is your best resource, make different versions and have your staff help you decide which they like more and do that one. Good luck.

We have yet to try dessert here because the allure of Graeter's across the street is too great. The dining room seats maybe 20 tables, and there's a small bar area in the back. Easy to make reservations online and recommend doing so, as we tried to walk in around 5:30pm on a Saturday and were turned away as all the tables were reserved, despite the dining room being 85% unoccupied. Wish the tables were a little bit further away, or maybe along the wall, anyway, that was probably the only issue with the tables outside. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of dishes. My better half got the pork chop, which was pounded thin yet still on the bone. It had a very nicely seasoned breading with lots of garlic and a few herbs. It also had three or four fresh cayenne peppers, which were sautéed with a butter type sauce and poured over the pork chop. It was nicely spicy with very good flavor. My entrée was the chicken Milanese, which was virtually identical in preparation as the pork chop, except obviously no bone, and no peppers or spicy butter sauce and was served with an arugula salad, which was delicious. Our two table mates got salads, one with grilled chicken, which was nice and warm and the other with shrimp. We also shared an order of the sautéed broccoli. It was amazing! It had nicely crisped and toasted garlic pieces, some lemon and olive oil. It was one of the most delicious broccoli side dishes I've had at a restaurant. Even though I took a pass on dessert, they ordered the cannoli which came two to an order. Am going to have to say that the cannoli shell itself was not very good. I tasted a tiny piece of it, and it seemed to have a little stale/refrigerator flavor and was not crisp or fresh tasting. That was the least favorite part of the meal. Everything else was delicious. Service was solid and there were a decent variety of wines by the glass available. We will definitely return to try other dishes that sounded great!
