My friend and I were in the search of pasta on our way home (Kenosha) from Chicago. We had a hard time since most restaurants were expensive but this one grabbed our attention because of the prices. We came on a Sunday evening and it was relatively slow, our server was amazing! She made us feel welcomed and cared for! The food was delicious. This establishment has gone down in terms of food quality and service. I was extremely disappointed. I want to support local businesses, but the last few times we ordered the food was subpar, and whoever is answering the phone and taking orders is one of the most rude and unfriendly people I have ever dealt with. Pizza is a fan favorite in our household ((who doesn't love pizza)). We have lived in the area for 2 months now and have yet to find a pizza place we can all agree on... until now! Grateful we came across Il Fornos!!! The pizza is just right - perfect amount of sauce, nice crisp crust, and great blend of flavor! Delivery time is spot on! Do not get the pan pizza, it was comically bready. Way too much crust to say the least. It did not help that the cheese distribution was bad. It was basically a huge bread stick with light sauce on it. The waitress was *nice,* but when we were done eating for about 8 minutes we had to flag her down for the check and she still did not acknowledge us. I would give this place 2 stars but I would assume the thin crust is much better so I won't be as mean. Still not coming back. read more

Came in for thin crust and was waited in by A highly efficient girl by the name of Alex. Excellent customer service she might be the owner of the way she runs this place very happy very fast really a nice girl, I ordered an ice tea and lemonade I know I ordered tea but it tasted a little strong so she graciously swapped out my drink and asked me what was wrong with it so they could improve it. I had the pizza thin crust I think it was Alforno supreme it had fresh peppers onions then we sliced tomato sauce sausage pepperoni and we had a fresh garlic. Very very fresh vegetables. It was a little salty for me when I come back I would just because the service was excellent and I like to try other things on the menu we got here at about 11 and this place gets really busy so I'm assuming everyone in the area really enjoys this place give it a try. read more

A large pizza for $20 to feed the family feels like a deal these days. It helps that the pie is above average, too. We stopped here after a walk through the botanic garden. We got here at around 5-ish, and things were getting busy. Although the staff seemed a bit flustered, they definitely weren't rude. We ordered a large thin crust sausage. While it took the better part of 25 minutes to come out, it was pretty delicious; the cheese blend was on point, plenty of sauce, and a toothy crust. The sausage was well-cooked. I don't recall any of the pieces flopping too badly under the weight of grease. It was a good pizza! I *am* glad that there was spices, parmesan, and dried, roasted garlic available, because I threw that stuff on in spades. We didn't get any appetizers because we were saving room for dessert, but Il Forno met our expectations. read more

Decided to give this place another shot after a horrible experience there 6 months ago and this time it was just as awful. Food was dry, burned, and terrible. Staff was very rude and service was poor. Ate inside the restaurant and atleast one other customer stormed out at the bad service in the 45 mins i was there. Ordered a veggie thin crust and it wasn't fully cooked. The middle was pretty much inedible. It was very doughy. The outside pieces were cooked more and it was ok. This place is solid. I come here regularly, (due to its close proximity to my office). It is a bit off the beaten path, but worth seeking out. Everything I've had, I've enjoyed. My favorite item is the chicken parmesan sandwich. It is excellent. Burgers are good, and I really like the bun they use. Fries are thin-cut and cooked to perfection. I probably wouldn't recommend the Italian Beef. Not that there is anything wrong with it; but there are so many other items to try first. The staff is friendly and hard-working. If you are looking for higher-end fast food, and good service, give Il Forno a try. read more

Food has been sub par for a while. Went in there to pick up a slice of pizza and it took a while for someone to even acknowledge me. There was only 3 tables. When I asked the older woman to check on my order ( which was 1 slices of pizza 10 min later) she scowled at me and said it's not ready. When she finally gave me my order, all I said was thanks and she yelled at me to have a great day when I left with a ton of attitude. I turned around and let her know. I ordered chicken Parmesan sandwich. They gave me two big pieces of chicken with the perfect amount of marinara and cheese on top with a fresh slices of French bread. Tonight while we ate dinner at Il Forno, I told my husband that when we're there, I often feel like we're interrupting a family dinner -- in the best possible way. We've been here a few times since moving to the area in February and I love it, both because the food is good but also because the people are welcoming and friendly. They remind me of my own family -- and that's a fun perk. The concept is fast casual -- ordering at the counter and the food is then brought out to you. The menu is extensive with something for everyone. My favorite is the meatball sandwich (and tonight I learned that you can order it on garlic bread - I haven't tried it but that sounds like a life changing swap that will need to happen). I also love the eggplant parmesan. Their marinara is hearty and well-seasoned without being completely overwhelming. We'll try the pizza eventually (because that's what we do). In the meantime, I'm content coming back over and over again for a meatball sandwich. read more

Very disappointed in our lunch order. Chicken fingers and fries came in a to go "box" So much moisture inside box that Chicken was as soggy as the fries. Ordered the Baked mostaccioli. Ordered the large for $8.95. Usually pasta dishes can cover 2 meals. This was so small that I can't imagine how much smaller the "small" could be.. Prices seemed in line with other restaurants, but definitely felt overcharged when the food arrived. If I go back, I might try their pizza next time. I've heard its pretty good. If it was just about their pizza, I'd - with reservations - give Il Forno only 3 stars. I tried a few of their thin crust pizzas, and I thought they were all okay. The crust was good, the cheese blend was decent, the sauce was tasty, and they're pretty reasonably priced. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Il Forno's pizzas, but - for my own personal tastes - I don't think they quite stack up to several of my other favorite thin crust joints in the area (particularly Jake's in Northbrook, NY Slices in HP, Piero's in HP, Joe's in Wheeling, or Bill's in Mundelein). The pizza game in Chicagoland is pretty stacked with stellar competition. With that said, I still recommend trying them out. Pizza is kind of subjective, and I bet a lot of folks will probably like Il Forno's thin crust pizza. What tips them into the 4 star zone - for me - are their sandwiches, burgers, and chicken. While nothing special, their sandwiches and burgers are consistently really good (which is something you can't take for granted with other sandwich/burger joints). There's also so few good chicken places in the immediate area, so it's nice to have an option that's better than the chicken from the deli counter at the supermarket. Two of the three times I tried their pasta, it was delicious, though one time their marinara sauce was a little more tart than I was expecting. I'm hoping I'll get to explore more of their menu, as they seem to shine there. read more

Having never been to Il Forno previously, we ordered dinner from here on a Saturday during the lockdown (no contact curbside pickup). Overall, it was a solid meal. My husband and toddler had a pizza. It was good, but a little overcooked for the toddler's taste. I ordered the chicken meal, expecting roast chicken and got fried chicken with french fries. (obviously my fault for not clarifying!). My fiancé and I went to lunch here and the service was very fast! We enjoyed our baked ravioli and fries. The chicken caesar wrap was pretty good overall, but the chicken was a little too dry.
