Where do I start... everything g here is top notch. The service, the ambiance and the star of the show.. the food. I had a fish fillet with "cucaracha" shrimp on top in a garlic sauce that I could have easily drank with a straw and a green salad. I'm on Keto and this was perfect. Had lunch here today to celebrate my 40th bday with my cousin. The restaurant is so nice. The food was delicious. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. We ordered lemonade (very fresh and has a hint of lime flavor) shrimp empanadas, Baja fish tacos and the fajitas with steak, shrimp and fish- the fish used in the fajitas is sooo so good seasoned and full of flavor. The outside of the fish is crispy and inside is fluffy and very delicious. Our server Alondra was so nice and helpful during our visit. Honestly the service was some of the best service I've had in a very very long time. She was very attentive and checked on us frequently to ensure everything was good. She was also helpful with helping us pick out food because it was first time we wanted to try some of the most popular items on the menu. After we finished our lunch they also brought me out a ice cream Sundae and sang happy bday. Which was a really nice and unexpected surprise. The Manager Raymond stopped by our table and spoke to us before we left and asked how did we enjoy our visit and how we heard about the restaurant and I told him I found them on yelp thanks to the positive reviews. The ambiance is nice for Downey. With the Christmas decorations it's giving department store vibes. I started my Mariscos Choix relationship a few years back at the Pico Rivera location. Hole in the wall but the Best Mexican Food I have ever had! So I'm thinking the Downey location with the remodel will be even better. Sad to say, no. I took a friend here recently and I couldn't stop talking about the golden shrimp tacos & taco gobernador. Unfortunately, the sinaloenses came out soaked in butter but not crispy. So just soggy and both tacos were extremely salty. The flavor profile of the drinks tasted off too. I was embarrassed how much I hyped this place up. And this is my 3rd time at this location, and each time the food got me thinking, it's missing the magic touch. I wish this location spent more time training with the Pico cooks rather than focusing on decor. Even though I live up the street from the Downey location, I don't think I can geek about this restaurant unless it's the Pico location. Please figure out what the cooks are doing over there, and I will be back. read more

Went to have dinner for my birthday. Arrived on a Saturday night and was seated immediately. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. I had the super campechana and it was amazing. They are very generous with their portions. I didn't have to add anything to it like lemon or ketchup. I would rate the spice level to a 7/10. Keep in mind I can handle spicy food. Pleasantly surprised there was no wait time for two. The food was absolutely delicious. I loved everything we ordered the shrimp. Diablo was very spicy, but very tasty packed with flavor. The tacos were meaty, good size portions. You can get them individually as many as you like. The drinks could have had more alcohol, they were sweet and yummy but I barely tasted any tequila. The lounge outside was so nice, they have very comfortable cushions and pillows. The bathrooms were clean and they even had music playing outside in their back patio. Pretty sure you can dance as well. We were checked on often, not just by our waitress but other staff as well that would bring us water and extra napkins. Very teamlike, made the experience better when you don't have to wait or ask for anything. Over all great experience. Most definitely will be back again. read more

My family loved this restaurant. From the moment that we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and were seated by the hostess after waiting for about 10 minutes, despite having a reservation. We enjoyed the inviting and pleasant atmosphere, the natural light, outdoor seating and plants give it a calming and fresh vibe. However, what really made the evening special was our server, Andre. He was absolutely fantastic. He was very professional, had a great sense of humor and was very attentive, he checked in on us often and even got the band to sing to my brother in law for his birthday without us asking.
