Went to Mariscos Costa Azul on the recommendation of a local. Was told they had great seafood. Not so my friends. Don't believe it. Nice interior and friendly staff. Home to the locals. Wifey had a shrimp kabob and other rice, fries and zucchini. Skewers were long, shrimp were small and zucchini was dry. Not a good choice. Started with chips and salsa. Chips were pretty banged up, but salsa was excellent. Fresh and hot. I went with the seafood platter. Was to have been shrimp, fish, scallops and octopus. Nixed the octopus for additional shrimp. 5 minutes after ordering was told out of scallops. Received a shrimp-fish stir fry with rice and avocado, and soft taco shells. Very disappointing. Sorry, can't recommend. Not a good experience for us. Would not return. read more

This was our first time trying Costa Azul, i'll start by saying the decor brought a big smile to my face with how colorful it is. The service was great, our waitress was friendly & attentive. Mom had the shrimp cocktail and while she appreciated that it was loaded with shrimp she was let down with the lack of flavor and spice. I had the fish tacos and I also was disappointed in them, they lacked flavor and the fish just didn't taste very good to me. I also didn't like that the fish was diced up like tiny potato's and kept falling out. The chips and green salsa were great, the pico had to many tomatoes and not enough jalapeños for our taste. I'm not sure that we will go back but I did enjoy trying out a restaurant that I had never been to before. read more

Beautiful, colorful, very clean restaurant with lots of different dining rooms with GIANT comfy booths for 8!!! I am so having my next BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE in those GIANT BOOTHS!!! Woohoo!!! We sat down & ordered some Michelada's (BEER with Clamato & lime) that were BOMB!!! LOVE the salt/pepper (sal/pimienta) mix that they rim the glass with. YUM! GET IT! Yes, the menu is in Spanish bc it's a MEXICAN SEAFOOD restaurant. But I am here to help, I speak perfecto Spanglish so I am going to give a wee lesson even a moron can comprehend. "comprender?" This is a place that is predominantly locals. Some dishes are definitely better than others but stay in the seafood zone and you'll not be disappointed. This place is the bang-up bomb. Stellar quantity and quality of food. Superior shrimp yumminess! Seriously, the shrimp is excellent every way that I've had it here, but the fried shrimp is top notch awesome. My favorite dish is discada mar y tierra (pa'tragones). While I'm ashamed that I don't speak Spanish, the translation is freaking awesomeness... a perfect mixture of my favorite combo; what's not to love about grilled beef, shrimp, bacon and avocado. For our second lunch in Santa Fe, we continued to try not to gain ten pounds on this trip by having some seafood. We have driven past Costa Azul so many times that we decided to give it a try. We were made to feel welcome by everyone there. The décor is classic, brightly colored almost clichéd Mexico. I really did eat in places decorated this way in Sinaloa. The chips come with some typical oniony salsa Mexicana and an avocado sauce that we liked a lot (well aside from the diced onion in it). It is creamy and thin with diced jalapeno and tomato. We have already made it since returning home. They also have Huichol and Valentina on the tables, my kind of place. My Tacos al Patron came with very plain white rice and thin frijoles. The rice is not worth bothering with, but the beans were fine. The tacos comprised carne asada, small camarones, a little tocino and a slice of avocado (see the photo) on slightly sweet, soft white corn tortillas. These were great and although the shrimp don't contribute real Sea of Cortez flavor, they were seasoned well. The steak was good and the bacon was not overdone to overwhelm the other flavors. I used the thin avocado sauce on these and enjoyed every bite. I would order these again. Ms T ordered tacos de camarones and they were very similar, without the beef and bacon. She liked them very much. We wanted to eat light and could have accomplished that goal if we had not snarfed down all four tacos on our respective plates. Costa Azul has a large seafood focused menu, true to its name. You could dine here a long time and not test the full menu. I hope I get a chance to go back and try some more. It goes way beyond tilapia tacos here. read more

After the waitress brought our chips and salsa she pulled the straws and threw them in the chip basket. There was a hair on the chips and on the straw. We made them aware of it and said they would bring another basket. They never did and they acted offended. The ceviche had no taste the discada was greasy will never visit this place again. We were doing some shopping on Cerrillos Rd when we took a chance and swung by this unspectacular looking building advertising Mexican Seafood. As soon as we walked in, the mood surprised us. The atmosphere was filled with gaity and color. Our greeting at the door was warm as our host took us to our brightly painted (and hand carved) booth. The exotic bird theme was very tropical and fun. We ordered a deep fried whole fish for my wife and I had a seafood medley soup. BOTH WERE GRAND!!! Our two lovely Latina servers were gracious and attentive and the prices were VERY AFFORDABLE.
