The food here is DISGUSTING. Ordered a taco and chile relleno. It was wet - full of water and the sauce on top was brown and dull. It tasted like it had been sitting in water for a while. The taco shell was stale and impossible to chew. Also ordered Pork green chili. It looked dull and horrible green. It tasted OLD and like it had been in the refridgerator uncovered for weeks. The food smelled nasty not appetizing. We didnt finish anything and certainly didnt take the leftovers home. las Caseta was an amazing restaurant. I would avoid this place if you dont want to be ill. This is a joke of a Mexican restaurant. I've eaten here twice my whole life and won't be going back any time soon. To me, it's the worst Mexican restaurant in town, in terms of the food they make here. I have never been compelled to write a review online for any restaurant until after eating here. I've lived in Fallbrook most of my life and I've been hesitant to eat here because it seems like an "Acapulco's" (a sorry American knock off of a Mexican restaurant). I am Latino as well, so I know about authentic Mexican food. I have to say that I have only eaten here twice in my 35 years here and I've been extremely disappointed both times. I can't believe this so called "Mexican" restaurant has been open for so long or that people in this town consider this to be "Mexican" food. You can eat at Rosa's, Las Brisas and now Estrella's and get authentic Mexican. Hell, I'd eat at Robertito's before this place. It's too bad those restaurants are in such small locations. La Caseta doesn't deserve to occupy the space they have. Let me tell you about my experience. I tried this place when I was in high school and it was mediocre at best. It took me over ten years to build up the nerve to try it again, because I had heard that they won some type of food competition here in town. So I take my wife, who is also Latina. She orders a shrimp taco plate and I order a chicken enchilada plate with guacamole on the side. When we saw the food placed on our table, we were in disbelief. The shrimp in her tacos were tiny and resembled the shrimp that comes from a can, or those Top Ramen noodle soups. My guacamole was dark green, which means it's not fresh (a huge guacamole no-no). I dug into it a bit with chips because usually the only top goes bad first. I bit into my chip and not only was the guacamole old, but it was cold. COLD! I've never heard of refrigerated guacamole. Real guacamole is made fresh and never refrigerated. I asked the waiter to take it back and bring me some fresh guacamole, but he only brought be more of the same crap they call guacamole. This place is a joke of a Mexican restaurant and it will take a miracle to get us to go back. Also on the bottom of my list is El Jardin, which is an "Acapulcos". Right now, I think Estrella's and Rosa's serve the best Mexican food in town, with Las Brisas not far behind. read more

This place is ok I guess if you like tex mex food. I wasn't to impressed with the food. The main dining area has a café feel to it. I can see why some people like it, but if I'm in the mood for Mexican food I prefer something a bit more authentic. read more

This place used to be great. Don't know what has happened in the last couple years. Last 3 times my family and I have gone the food is awful. Either too bland or super salty. Won't go back unless major change is done. Too bad because they have great atmosphere and awesome margaritas. read more

Probably the best Mexican food Fallbrook has to offer. I grew up here, but having spent nearly 9 of my adult years in Texas, I've found out that California is truly lacking in the taste of Mexican food. I only wish that everybody in California could have the privilege of tasting Tex-Mex to find out what they're missing out on. I had a platter with a cheese enchilada with green sauce, a shredded beef tostada, rice, and beans. I can say I did like the fresh red sauce with the chips. California salsa is different from Texas in that they chop up a bunch of raw ingredients and mix them, whereas Texans cook the tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc and blend them. Both are good in their own way. However, when you compare the food, the flavor of the Tex-Mex dishes overpowers Calif Mexican by a long shot. I prefer a lot more seasoning and a lot more kick. I also prefer the way that a lot of the Mexican restaurants in Texas will make their own fresh tortillas and chips. After covering my enchilada with a ton of salsa, it was fairly decent. The shredded beef on the enchilada had no seasoning, and it made me wish I'd just gone with a simple bean tostada. The rice and beans were just okay. This is probably the only Mexican place I'll be willing to eat while I'm back in town. read more

Every small town resident in the Southwest has a favorite Mexican restaurant. One that's been in business a long time, in this case over 25 years. One that serves delicious food consistently prepared with the freshest ingredients. One that has friendly servers who remember what you like and an owner who remembers your name (think "Cheers"). Add to that prices that allow dining there more than once a week-that's La Caseta. It is for these reasons that La Caseta has been my favorite since my husband and I moved to Fallbrook in 1989. My favorite menu item-ahem, I have several-is the fish taco, loaded with batter-fried fish, served with refried beans, Spanish rice and house-made guacamole. Or as I prefer, skipping the rice and beans for a crisp green salad on the side. Over the years I have tried everything on the ever-changing menu and found food seasoned properly-not too hot, never bland. La Caseta is our small town favorite Mexican Food restaurant and it always will be. read more

My boyfriend & I ate here on Wednesday night and a few hours later my boyfriend got terribly sick, he was up all night throwing up. We suspected it was food poisoning. We won't be eating here anymore. We both really enjoy Mexican food it's one of our favorite foods but this was a bad experience and won't be eating here anymore. read more

My husband took me here for my birthday tonight. We are new to town and was referred by a family member that reaaly like it. We ordered they're deep fried avacado which turns out is amazingly tasty. Service was friendly and went above and beyond. The food was quick and delicious. We ordered the mixed grill for two which comes with surpsingly generation portions for the price $20.95 gets you two HUGE servings of beans and rice, tortillas and a piping hot plate piled with chicken and steak. Or of you want to upgrade as we choose to for $3 extra we got shrimp also. It was sooo yummy and so much for two people, but I will happily enjoy the left overs. Our waitress was attentive and usually when we are the only ones sitting outside are ignored by our server, but she had our drinks filled always checking on us constantly and very pleasant and helpful since we were curious on the food and what was the favs of the usuals. I found the back outdoor patio to be lovely and the ambiance was perfect for my birthday meal since we were alone on the pation and I could allow my two year old to roam around and be greeted by the friendly staff! The food here was good but what stood out even more was the service. Everyone here was so nice. From the moment we walked in, every one on the staff was very helpful and made us feel welcome. Chips and salsa are good - I wish we didn't eat so much of it while we were waiting for our food because the portions are huge. Plan to take a box to go! Nice family joint, too. Also there's pleasant seating outside. We ate dinner there and it was pretty chilly out but we were able to eat outside with the heat lamps comfortably. read more

La Caseta rules! You have to try their cheeseburger! We dine here all the time. Great Mecican food! This evening I didn't feel like Mexican food but everyone else did. Delos the owner recommended an avocado cheese burger. OMG, that was the tastiest burger I have ever had! That great tasting burger just proved to me that they use only the highest quality meats available, a tasty bun, fresh Fallbrook avocados and crispy french fries too! Friendly service as always. Good news too, they announced new hours, open all day, I think it's 11-8, Monday-Saturday. read more

We have always loved the food and service at LaCaseta! When my son and daughter-in-law got married last year, we had their rehearsal dinner there. It was AWESOME! The service was great! I just went to La Caseta and I had the Chicken Cilantro and my husband had the Shrimp Diablo. Absolutely outstanding! The flavor on both of the entree's was out of this world.
