We ordered dinner from here tonight and I'm beyond disappointed. I've been craving shrimp cocktail for the last week. I ordered a large one, it's a huge portion of flavorless tomato juice ( no flavor, I added hot sauce, clamato, and even hot ketchup) and maybe 8 shrimp. I'm so frustrated that this was almost $16 for that. My husband asada burrito was bland and only meat and rice. No onion no cilantro nothing. To top it off, I paid with debit card and when received my receipt I was charged a $2.50 service charge. I was never told about it and I feel that's excessive. The octopus came with 15 pieces and the extra large shrimp cocktail came with 20-30 shrimps. I was disappointed that the shrimp cocktail wasn't well flavored. There was no hint of tomato. I brought my mother for the first time here and I'm extremely disgusted and disappointed. I found a nasty hair in our beans and rice. I told the waitress and she just made this face like "hair was part of the meal". She didn't ask if we wanted our food replaced, just a dumb look that said, "Oh well". The food we ordered a molcajete, the presentation was nice but the meat wasn't all that great. The chorizo was the least of my favorite. Lastly, the coffee. It was like Luke warm if that and no flavor. The waitress did warn us about it being nasty but why sell something that isn't good. I'd give it a zero star rating if I could. Won't be back here again, not for a hairy plate of food. My family and I would come here a few years back. It was always a party of 15, or more. I have been to this place at least ten times. I usually come during lunch hours and the place can get busy, but never a long wait. The tables, floor, bathroom are always super clean. When you sit at the table, there is a "button" you ring to get the waitresses attention. She comes over quickly with a basket full of chips, saltine crackers and tostada shells. Along with that, is the complimentary FRESH salsa and a very tasty "imitation crab" salsa with olives, jalapenos and tomatoes (YUM!) I tend to want to relax and enjoy my mexican seafood, so I always order a bud light, which is served in a chilled glass with lemon and salt on the rim (NICE TOUCH!) Ask for extra sour cream on the shrimp tacos, you will thank me later. Each dinner/meal comes with rice and beans and a side salad which consist of lettuce, tomato and onion. Ranch dressing in a squeeze bottle along with the hot sauce. The food is fresh, and everything taste good! The home made beans have dried chilis in them just like my grandmother use to make - that alone keeps me coming back for more! The rice is a tad greasy, but full of flavor! I love the chicken flautas, the shrimp tacos, and the steak fajitas. My only complaint is that they do not usually do a good job of deveining the shrimp, but I tend to either "pick at it" myself (I KNOW SOUNDS GROSS). **The one time I came for dinner, there must have been a different cook as the food was salty, the beans were "runny" and my waitress messed up on my order (ADDED CHEESE ON MY BEANS WHEN I ASKED HER NOT TO) but maybe that was because she was spanish speaking and misunderstood me. So this is my boyfriends go-to spot after a night of drinking, which makes it my go to spot. The micheladas are delicous and really cheap compared to other places (I believe they are like $4.00). WASTE OF TIME!! Waited a full hour just to still not receive my food. Came in today to order a shrimp tostada wasn't greeted no smile the lady came to the register and told me hold on she went ahead and started taking food to tables came back and kept serving food to more people , after about 5 minutes she rang me up even though she had my little box already sitting on the counter it came up to 8.50$ like really it was tiny the only thing I would have to say I liked was that it was very fresh which matters the most really no flavor at all almost as if they had just threw it together also a hard tostada shell 1 . The broth was very flavorful so you don't have to put a bunch of additional condiments in. They give you some chips, salsa and a little appetizer when you come in. The service was fast and friendly. Micheladas we're good and not very pricey. Also tried a shrimp empanada and butter shrimp plate. Everything was delicious. The beans are like I make at home with a little Chile kick, so if you can't handle a little spice ask about them in advance. I saw people getting mojara and caldo de mariscos which all looked great. Waitress offered suggestions and she was spot on. Shrimp tacos and garlic shrimp were the best! My husband judges a restaurant on their beans and rice. He loved it!
