Let me take the time to start by saying that I really don't like to take the time to put a review on anything or about anywhere but I felt this place deserved to be recognized for it great tasting food! My wife and my kids went there on 8/26/14 as a recommendation to my wife from one of her co-workers. I just want to say that all the plates we ordered were delicious! I am very picky when it comes to seafood as I grew up going to the coast in Mexico every summer and eating all kinds of delicious and fresh seafood, and as far as I can recall, I have yet (until now) to find a seafood restaurant that would be somehow comparable to any of that. They make their own corn tortillas and they taste soooo good. Well I don't' know about the entire menu here, but my wife order the shrimp on cream plate (or something like that....lol) and it was just delicious! I ordered the stuffed fish plate (Filete Relleno...or something like that...again...lol) and I couldn't stop complimenting how good my food was after every single bite! LOL. (Yeah, that actually happened!) We ordered 2 chicken and 1 shrimp quesadillas for the kids and even those were good! I can't wait to go back there and take some friends tomorrow as we got them excited about eating there! This place had good reviews so we thought to give it a try. Well let's start by saying no one greet us, we ask if we can choose a table or wait to be seated while There were two girl having a personal conversation one of them say yeah just seat anywhere. So we did, no one give us menúes, or offer drinks the 3 servers just ignored us the hall time we were there. We finally left. The worse place as far as service goes. read more

Service was extremely slow even though the place was pretty empty. I would hate to be here when it's busy. Was here for at least 10 mins before someone came to take our drink order. Had to repeatedly ask the waitress for basics (drink refills, more chips & salsa, napkins & silverware, etc). Food is okay, but not worth putting up with the bad service. read more

Good food is made here although the environment is extremely loud and the service isn't the greatest. Friends son ordered a burger from the kids menu and took them forever to get his food. One star for a good michelada. Coctel de Camaron was horrible. Taste like nothing but ketchup. Aguachiles were so disappointing! Especially because it's such a simple dish. The black vein looks really ugly when the shrimp are butterflied. And I just don't want to eat it. Flavor didn't help either. I also tried the fried snapper. No flavor. read more

Very bad service!!!! People please don't Go there! I use to love going there. They change the ownership . I went there for Father's Day and took my baby NO AC it was HOT. They took 15min to give our chips and 15 for drink they took 30 min to get our food order cuz they forgot about us and plus they mest up in our order. The place was not even super pack like it was years back. When we had to pay in separate he re-write the order one by one again in a PAPER they didn't have no computer system like they had before it was awful. The food is very very good I would give em 5 stars but the service could be better nobody came to ask if everything was ok or ask if we wanted refills on our drinks till the end. The only reason I gave it a 3 star was because the food is DELICIOUS but the service is HORRIBLE. The first time we went my wife and I took a wrong turn by accident and bumped into this restaurant and my wife recalled hearing that this place is good. So we stopped and ate and both plates were amazing. We noticed a few flaws with their service but no biggie cuz the food superseded the service. HOWEVER, I decided to take my mom and family (party of 10) there for Mother's Day and HUGE mistake! Not only is their service bad BUT they don't know how to turnover tables quickly to be able to serve all their customers. At first I called to see how long was the wait and well they don't know the difference between 15 minutes and an hour because they said 15 minutes so I trusted them and took my whole family and we waited over an hour! 3 of my family members left eventually because they got fed up. They don't give their customers the bill after they finish so people just sit there and wait and chill, so there's no table turnover. If it wasn't cuz I stood up to look around to see what was going on, I took the initiative to tell them to put a table against a booth so the rest of us left can sit and eat, we would've waited another hour. And even after they took my advice and sat us they still wanted to move us again later but we rejected their offer. Like I said food is amazing and I will probably go again just to eat their food but never will I take another big group. They are not consistent with their service also because they don't revisit their tables and pretty much abandon their customers and plus they don't give them a bill. Their clientele would grow so much more if they would make it a custom to do that, I'm sure they would see a difference in their tips and revenue for the business. read more

Came to this restaurant because a few people recommended it and said the food was great. First off, they took longer than I liked to get us seated (party of two). Once we got a booth they completely forgot about us for a good 20-30 minutes at least before they came and got out drink order. We ordered drinks and food at the same time. We waited long to get chips and salsa, waited to get our micheladas, which were actually really good, and finally waited a long time to get our food. After the food came they NEVER came back to the table to check If we needed anything. Eventually I had to get up to ask for the check and a box and then they still didn't come so we got up, walked to the front to pay and left. Overall the food wasn't bad but does seem a bit overpriced, micheladas were really good but this had to be the worst service I have ever had at any restaurant. Don't plan on eating here again. Might order to go In The future. Really be aware of that if you plan to go here. Really terrible service. read more

Well, I've been here before and it was "okay". Although it's a sea food place, I always get enchiladas at this particular restaurant. I have tried their camarones culiches (sp) which is shrimp in some thicker green sauce at their other location in Modesto so I decided to try it here a few days ago. They were very spicy and the shrimp had the vein in them which I personally dislike but other than that it was good. Well, they're over priced on some items, such as a basic bean and cheese burrito for the kids cost us a ridiculous $6. I asked the waitress if any sides or drink came along with it and she told me no, so I was shocked that they charge so much for a small bean and cheese burrito. My son got a taco with a handmade tortilla for $3. It was good but the meat had a lot of "fat" and some parts became inedible so my son had a little pile of chewed meat in a napkin. Not cool. My husband enjoyed his shrimp cocktail and also got a chicken taco on the side. He also enjoyed that. The tacos are huge by the way. Service wasn't great. The lady looked bothered. We arrived around 7:30pm and they didn't close until 9, so I was unsure what was causing her to feel upset, at least that's the vibe I got. She wasn't attentive, Never asked if I wanted a refill, I had to ask for more tortilla chips to entertain the hungry children and never did she check on us. The place wasn't even busy there was two other couples and our small family of four. Personally, I would recommend the one on Kansas Ave in Modesto. They are super duper clean and so attentive with their customers compared to this dark dungeon lol. The best handmade tortillas in Turlock (They blow La Mo's out of the water) If you're looking for Americanized dishes, fake guacamole and gobs of cheddar cheese on your food you won't find that here. The menu is limited to seafood and some other non seafood dishes (the asada plate is simple yet soo good) but it's all very delicious. They make something as simple as beans and rice taste so mouthwatering that I would go just to eat a plate full of both with their tortillas! read more

I used to be a regular, when I went last night it seemed as if they were under new management. Now called La Playa Guayabitos. THEY CHARGED ME FOR TAP WATER. When I confronted the waitress, she said it was the idea of a new associate and continued by venting that they do not even get paid minimum-wage. The food seemed shady sure enough my stomach was not feeling well this morning. I should've taken the first hint which was an empty restaurant on a Saturday night.
