This place used to be amazing and out of nowhere the burritos became so oily. You can literally see it on the foil.... The older man is amazing and super friendly. There's a younger man who is so short and rude. We have been coming here since opening and we have complained a couple times about how oily the food is because it wasn't like that originally, but they do nothing to change it even though we request no oil on the tortilla... Finally stopped by California Tacos in Turlock and it lived up to the hype. Great customer service and an excellent California burrito with well cooked meat, salsa, rice, and beans in a lightly toasted flour tortilla. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend their fresh agua fresca! read more

Used to love coming here but unfortunately the attention to what they are doing is no longer there. I ordered asada tacos. What I pick up is literally just tortialla and beef. Im sorry when do you EVER have to say I want to order asada tacos with cilantro and onions and salsa. It was assumed that by me saying asada tacos I just want tortilla and beef. Ive never experienced this at an mexican restaurant/taco shop/ taco truck, especially this one that I frequent. When confronted I was put to blame for saying asada tacos, they assumed I only wanted beef lol. Anyways, I got hung up on when questioning what happened to the standard salsa cilantro and onion on asada tacos? The food here is delicious. However, everytime my family and I order from here, they mess up, they forget something or something is missing in one way or another. I drove to Turlock for their grand opening. They were having a buy 1 get 1 on any item. I kept calling since I was going to be driving from Modesto. And no one answered. So I messaged on instagram. I was told they still were open and that deal was still going on. I drove all the way there and waited in line , then was told they were out of everything except tacos. And all they had left was asada and pastor. So I ordered 2 street tacos 1 asada 1 pastor. Tacos were small but pretty tasty. I liked the green salsa , had some heat to it . Tasty or WasteY??? At times, they are tasty! The only reason I would not recommend this taco truck, is because, in the beginning they were very polite and very attentive. Now that they make it and have their main crowds that keep coming back, they are very rude and obnoxious. When you try to order your food, they act like you're bothering them. No humility now that they've made it. The last time I ordered chicken tacos, the meat was so dry and crunchy. I had to keep spitting some of it out because it was burnt. This was our first time coming based off a friends post. The tacos were super good. What killed the vibe was the customer service from the employee. We ordered a agua de horchata and it was nasty. I asked if I could change it after taking a sip and the guy was like we really can't do that they count the cups... he literally asked if he could swap it to his co-worker. We wanted to go to a different restaurant today, but they were closed so we decided to give this location a shot. It was great! Service was quick and friendly, happy to answer any questions we had. They had seating next to the food truck and it was clean. After you order, they give you a beeper to call you up once your order is ready which I appreciate. The super nachos were $12 and the super burrito was $10. My husband got the al pastor burrito and he loved it. Generously seasoned and they grilled the outside of the burrito as well. I got the super nachos and it was great as well. The nachos were thick, so you didn't have to worry about soggy chips 10 minutes into eating it. The asada was seasoned well and plentiful, and I appreciate the pickled veggies they added since it cut through the richness of the nachos. It was enough for 2 people to share or for you to take home for later. Overall we enjoyed the food and the service, and we look forward to coming back! read more

Hidden gem! this taco truck was located in a cvs parking lot when we found it and was the perfect stop while traveling through the Central Valley. My family and I ordered the carne asada tacos, burrito and torta. Service was prompt and friendly. No place for seating like some taco trucks in the central valley, but perfect for on the go. My torta was delicious, with the bread tasting fresh and toasted (not too thick as torta bread sometimes is) and the carne asada and hot sauces all having a great amount of spice to them. Spontaneously stopped by Tacos California for dinner. We ordered asada nachos supreme, two asada tacos and two pastor tacos. All of it was excellent! There was spice however my mom didn't think it was extreme and didn't have a hard time eating any of it. The beans on the nachos were delicious and no nacho cheese sauce in sight - all normal shredded cheese! The nachos are a lot of food, can definitely feed more than one person. This a is a great place for a quick bite to eat with fast and friendly service. Located at the south east corner of CSU Stanislaus outside CVS, it has great walk ability from the campus or nearby neighborhoods. The only drawback is that sometimes the taco tortillas seem somewhat stale. read more

Hubby decided that he wanted good Mexican food and WOW!!! The chicken nachos supreme is enough to feed 2-3 people. My veggie burrito supreme had to go in the fridge because I only got a quarter of the way through the nachos before I had to tap out lol. He ate the rest and his asada burrito supreme also went in the fridge lol. We've had their burritos before but first time with the nachos. Taco truck on Geer Road. Nice painted red tables. Nice touch when near CSU Stanislaus. Supreme burritos tasty, but does have cilantro. I love it but not everyone does. Know that so you can ask for the burrito without it. Tacos $2 each and tasty with good tasting tortillas. I asked for two salsas and the gave to me without an additional charge! Taco truck on East Ave. charges 75 cents for each salsa! I think one salsa per plate should be free so I really liked that they were free. read more

Stoped here on the way to the Bay Area, and I am so glad we did! We ordered a regular Asada burrito, and a Torta. Both DELICIOUS!! The meat had a little kick to it, but was so good and was not dry at all. The bread on the Torta was nice and pressed, so much flavor. I will definitely stop here again for sure! read more

Wanted to go here for a quick lunch yesterday w a classmate. I was impressed by the reviews and also a lot of customers who just graduated were waiting as well. It was my first time and I usually eat lengua at taco trucks at other places at least once a week. I got a supreme lengua burrito and my friend got a supreme asada burrito. It was absolutely delicious. However, the next 24 hours our stomach was in horrible pain lasting all night and to the next day. We had went to the bathroom multiple times in which we shared to each other. I just wanted to share this so that no one else is getting sick.
