Decided to try out the $1 Tacos , and they are terrible Shrimp taco was nothing but 1 shrimp and batter crumbs, the Fish taco was ground up old fish and batter crumbs , the asada taco had no flavor at all period . The gentlemen who greeted us was nice. He got one of the hostess to take us to the table. There was a draft do we asked to be moved. We were moved quickly. Our waitress was okay. We had to flag her anytime we needed more drinks. We ordered the oyster shots. You get 2 oysters in each drink. They were yummy. Small, but they hit the spot. We had the meat molcajete. It was okay, the meat was cooked well but the actual sauce they were in was not all that great. It needed more flavor. It was also small, for what I am use to. They do give you tortillas galore. You just need to ask for them. We also had the shrimp, octopus, and fish soup which was tasty. I will say the shrimp was superb. I will most likely go back and have shrimp plates. Here visiting from Chicago and really wanted Mexican seafood. So glad my in laws brought us here! We ordered the ceviche for our appetizer and were very happy. Our waitress told us we could do half shrimp and half fish ceviche, which was perfect so we could try the two varieties. Both were very good! My husband ordered the fish tacos and let me steal a bite. I've had fish tacos in San Diego, Orange County, Chicago, and Washington DC, and these definitely were one of the bests I've ever had! I ordered the camarones al veneno and loved every second. I love spicy food, so these were a perfect heat for me. Very spicy, but not to the point where I'm uncomfortable. If you don't like spicy, stay away. Lol I also ordered El Remedio, a drink served in a cantarito that was very strong and good. All in all, this place was a great choice! I keep on giving this place a try and I keep on leaving disappointed all the time. I feel like the service along with the prices of the food is not good enough for the quality of the food they serve. I went with my husband last weekend, I asked for an agua de jaimaca and it was so watered down that it had no flavor. The waiter then confessed that he knew it was not going to have flavor because it was the last of the batch that was made. That should have been red flag #1. Why would you serve something that you know it is not going to be good. I ordered the tacos gobernador and they were not that great. My husband ordered the pescado zarandeado which was $50 bucks and so not worth it. I would like to say that at least I enjoyed something from my experience, but to be honest there was nothing enjoyable, wether it was the ambiance, the service (had to repeatedly ask the waiter for things) the food or the prices nothing was worth it in my opinion. Save your money and your time and go somewhere better! This location is very convenient for anyone craving mariscos in the southwest side. Clearly not the best in town, but the restaurant is clean and I feel is better than their original location. Well, after our visit to this place (which I had been wanting to try for some time) that is exactly how I felt. 1 star for the shrimp empanadas ($24 bucks for a dozen) which were good. The food.. $18 bucks a plate for about 15 shrimp in garlic sauce.. a small smatter of beans, a cup size portion of rice stuffed with peas, carrots, green beans (yuck) and a few pieces of lettuce/tomato. We got our dinners, however the kids quesadilla was missing in action for a good 10 mins. Our food was already just juke warm and after waiting patiently for the kids food, it had just turned out right cold. Service was abysmal, which was odd because there are like 50 staff members running by our table which was right next the to the waitress stand. Drinks sat empty most of the time. We were pleasantly surprised , our server was nice and very attentive. Our food was good, no complaints there. We sat at the bar, once our server left no one and I mean no one stopped to ask us if we needed any help, maybe another beer since we had been sitting there for over 30 mins with empty beer mugs. 2 servers passed directly in front of us and ignored us. Until we asked one server if we were invisible!!! She gave us attitude , she came in with attitude she just should of stayed home. I didn't get her name, but she had her hair in a bun with 2 braids in it . Needless to say she was super rude . The manager Alfonso was very apologetic, but that can't change the experience we had there . We had just spent 100.00 and we would of spent more but we would rather spend our money elsewhere without any attitude. They can thank their server for that! read more

I'm a big seafood fan which is the reason I like this place. I have been going ever since it opened. The last time we went, our experience wasn't a great one, but i think it's because it was on a Sunday after church. It was super busy and they only had two waitresses. The food was pretty good. I especially like the camarones a la diabla. They are super spicy and have great flavor, but the amount of shrimp is pretty small for the price. Their shrimp cocktail is pretty bland though and could use some salt. I am not a fan of the super loud live music they had going that day. I suppose it's a thing they have on Sundays, but I wasn't able to enjoy my food because it was so extremely loud. I'd say for food, I'd give them a 4 but for service it's a three. You can't have just two waitresses on a Sunday afternoon and as for the music, I'd be okay with it in the evenings. read more

I needed more water and tortillas that I ordered because the ones that I got in the first place were so stale. I had to get up and go to the kitchen with my cup to ask for more water. Came on a Sunday night and as a party of 6 adults and 4 children. The wait was rather long (over an hour), but I was okay with that as we were a large party. I was not thrilled that they offered multiple times to split our party. We came together and we wanted to eat together damnit! Even that did not get to me. What really bothered me was the craptastic service we received. After being seated, our orders were taken and salsa and chips were provided relatively fast. But after that it was just downhill. Our order included: 1) Breaded Fish (tasty batter) 2) 1/2 fish 1/2 shrimp ceviche (tasteless) 3) 2 orders or fish tacos (i've had better and tacos de huicho) 4) Beef fajitas 5) Guacamole (could have used some salt) 6) Shrimp empanadas (hyped- they tasted like it was literally just wrapped in unseasoned flour) 6) Cheeseburger with fries combo The first thing that came out was the guacamole and then 15 minutes later was my ceviche. I waited patiently for everyones food to come. 10, 20, 30 minutes later the beaded fish comes out. Okay so at this point 2/5 people have their dinner. Another 15 minutes pass and they bring the 2 orders of fish tacos and the fajitas. We ask about the cheeseburger and they said it was on its way soon. How does the least complicated order come out last? This was in no way our server's fault and I feel bad for these servers who get the stink eye. They appeard to be wayyy UNDERSTAFFED server wise and probably even in the back cooking which is why we had to wait so damn long for our food. To summarize, waiting like an hour for all of our food is ridiculous. Two, food should not be staggered unless it's different courses, and lastly- the food was not great. The SERVICE ALONE is enough to not make me ever come back. I've tried food from the east side location and it was better, so if you're thinking about going, go to the other location. read more

Mariscos Las Islitas is a great restaurant. On the weekends it can be pretty busy at all hours. Sometimes we go in during the weekdays and they are not busy so they are short staffed. But let's not talk about that... the food there never disappoints me. My favorite thing to order is the Carne Asada con Camarones! DELICIOUS the portion size is big, and it always satisfies my hunger lol the Camarones Veneno and Camarones 911 are very good but are only for the people who can handle the heat the food over all is great and the drinks there are great too!
