And I/WE came here specifically to try the pescado zarandeado...which is a whole snook fish splayed, grilled and seasoned Nayarit style. Myself and friend ordered the smallest size which starts at reasonable $33/ whole fish. Side orders we had were rice, caramilzed grilled onions, extra tortillas and grilled whole shrimp. Preparation and wait time was about 30 minutes. We opted to dine in the covered outdoor patio. What a fantastic meal. It was enough food easily for 4-6 people with hearty appetites. The fish was beautifully prepared and came garnished with sliced red onions on a big platter. You just dive in and grab your fish with fingers, forks, spoons or tortillas. It was perfectly seasoned, not fishy...a mild flavored fish similar to red snapper or bass. It came with the head too that has pockets of meat. I dribbled a but of salsa on my fish to seal the deal and dived in ! Was damn delicious and filling. Even had some to take home. Was definitely a Sho'am good seafood experience!

Really fresh, nice starter to share. We tried to order the Filete de Pescado à la Plancha but were first told it would be ten minutes extra, then told it would be 20 mins extra, so we ended up ordering the Seafood Mixto instead. Disappointed that the filete is not readily available, especially since it's a pretty basic item. The Mixto was very flavorful, great seasoned broth, but so much more broth than seafood. Tacos al Gobernador were a nice surprise - full of shrimp and cheese with a nice crispy exterior, probably the best dish of the night. Shrimp à la Diabla was also full of shrimp with a nice sauce, not too hot. Service was inconsistent - rarely checked on us and it took a while to get our bill. Also, parking is tough. You will have to find parking in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. Overall solid for a first time - food has real flavor and the Governor tacos and Diabla are worth ordering. Just wish the filete was available without the long extra wait.

I just felt so spoiled with so much delicious food available to me... and with little to no wait on anything! As expected, both the tostada and the quesadilla were fantastic and oh so aesthetically pleasing. I wish my stomach or appetite was bigger. I really do want to try some of the other spots that don't get featured as much... I guess there's next time. Always a treat when visiting the Mercado. Especially when there is a possibility of grabbing a lot of different high-quality bites at different places for the same meal. So fresh and tasty! The product/sourcing, the preparation/ presentation - just elite. The balances of flavors and textures were just perfect - your flavors with fat (avocado), seasoning, acidity, with a good amount of heat. The mariscos here was truly special. There is some parking but it gets pretty crowded too so you might have to street park (and the area around can get a little sketch) so be careful. The second time we came here was almost 1130pm right before their midnight closing. This time, the parking lot was emptier so we managed to park inside. There was still a pretty steady stream of customers even around closing, but at least the line isn't ridiculously long. Can't go wrong with anything you order here!

That alone could be a whole meal, it's a pretty big size too, maybe a 7 inch tortilla. If you don't know what asientos are and if you've never had them, keep in mind that it's an acquired taste. It's the tiny bits that sit at the bottom of the pot. They aren't meaty, it's tiny bits, smaller than crumbs, and they been there during the whole cooking process so they will have a slightly toasty/nutty/burnt taste and they're greasy. That's just the nature of asientos. As for the surtida and mixta bowls, the meat was super tasty and tender. I liked the big tortillas they brought out, again, about 7 inches or so. Upon request they'll bring out more. They also have chiltipin chile pods on the table for you to crush up and add to your plate. We took 3 containers of food home. We just couldn't finish it.
