I was treated to a birthday lunch here by my team at work, and this was only my second visit. We started with calamari and crab cakes for appetizers. Both were really good. The crab cakes came with a side salad and cilantro dressing. I had a bite, and it was tasty. For my entrée, I ordered the whole fried tilapia with sweet potato fries and Mediterranean veggies on the side. The fish was crispy and flavorful. I do wish it had a bit more salt, but the pickled onions it was served with made it delicious. I ended up eating the whole thing! The sweet potato fries were good and not oily at all. The veggies, however, were a bit underwhelming and too peppery for my taste. I only ate about a quarter of the serving, and I usually love vegetables. For dessert, I ordered the fantasy chocolate cake, which is a chocolate ganache cake. It was good, but I wish it had been more moist. My coworkers ordered the carrot cake and ube mascarpone, and I had a bite of each. The carrot cake was a bit dry, but the ube mascarpone was delicious and creamy. I would definitely order that next time.

Excellent Food! Mahi Mahi Plate *wild Mahi Mahi Plate *wild Ahi Poke. Salmon burrito. Best meal!

Amazing Service Great quality food excellent price. Love the food and service! Everything was great fresh grilled fish tuna Poké bowl great selection of dessert. I like the carrot cake.

This is just a review on the one menu item that was so disappointing, it had to be reviewed on its own merits The New York Steak The first level of blame might be that a customer walks into a seafood restaurant... and opts to order a steak, beef over fish! Lesson learned. The second level of blame could be, after cutting into the steak ordered medium rare and seeing it a grey tan color with no juices flowing out nor red, let alone pink coloration... send it back graciously uneaten as it was clearly not medium rare, nor medium and was closer to Medium Well or Well Done. It was way overcooked. No juicy moisture, very dry Not tender, really tough Not red nor pink coloring, but very gray as if it was dehydrated Not fleshy consistency, but fiberous Aesthetically okay on the outside, but horrendous when you cut it open and looked at the inside. It was so bad, I's chalk it up to a kitchen error as it's a seafood restaurant that is used to grilling seafood but this is a 14oz (I believe) thin steak and a New York cut that lacks marbleization so is very unforgiving when neglected and overcooked. I speculate that it was not well attended to in the kitchen, a product of being busy and human error by the chef/cook tending to a hot flame grill with multiple orders cooking simultaneously. Again, the biggest mistake was not sending it back to return it. Blue Salt has good customer service and I wager they would have taken it back and prepared a new steak... but if it would have been done right (true medium rare) I'll never know and that's the regret of today. I hindsight, I'll now never know if the New York Steak at Blue Salt Grill is a good dish or not. I'm coming back here for the fish any time, every time and all of the time. It's too bad that when I crave beef and a steak, I was hoping to order that NY Steak here, but now lack confidence because it was so way off.

Rainbow trout with herb garlic butter over thai noodle salad

This location is in a plaza so theres some parking. This place is hands down one of the best spots for seafood. Quality and flavor! They really know how to cook and season their dishes to perfection. With plenty of options to customize your own plate. They also have items like wraps and salads. Forget about the other dining scams that off branzino when you can get it here for half the price that tastes way better. I ordered the rainbow trout seasoned with garlic and herb butter over thai noodle salad with a side of sweet potato fries. FIRE! I highly recommend

Similar concept to California Fish Grill, but with many more sides and options to choose from. I ordered the shrimp wrap and asked for the spicy mayo on the side since I can't eat spicy food. Without the sauce it ended up being a little bland, so I wish there had been a pico de gallo or another sauce option to add more flavor. My friends ordered the fish and shrimp taco plates. We also shared the Mediterranean octopus salad and the Brussels sprouts. In hindsight, we probably didn't need the extra dishes since the plates already come with sides and are pretty generous in portion. The service was friendly, and the staff cleared our table right after we finished eating. I would come back again to try some other dishes that don't rely on spicy mayo.

This is the best deal for seafood , you literally can't beat the prices. We got their Salmon and Scallops plate that comes with two sides. They were both delicious and cooked perfectly. The workers are very nice and the food came out pretty quick. The restaurant is clean with indoor and outdoor seating. ig: @cravingswithcat

The hostess was warm and very helpful. She offered detailed information about the dishes we were considering. Though it appears this restaurant does more takeout than dine in, allow time to dine in. Fun vibe to the dining room! Our dishes were excellent. We had the Mahi Mahi tacos and shrimp were. Both were hearty portions with clean, bright flavors. This was our third visit and yes, we will keep coming back! Cheers!

Very pleasant surprise. I'll cut right to the chase: this isn't the freshest seafood you can eat or the most skillful execution in seafood. But you know that coming here. This is a no frills, seafood grill, with good value, and that's exactly what you'll get. By current American prices, this is good value. $24 got me a giant plate with two large shrimp, two scallops (surprisingly tender!), and two filets of fish, and two heaping sides. Not bad at all!! Had enough for two large meals and then some. Again, this is amazing value for seafood. Everything is very salty, but I'm not complaining. I love salty tastes. And squeeze some lemon and you're doing great. They had so many flavors to flavor your seafood to choose from too - really fun actually! Again are they truly nuanced? Not exactly. Do they still deliver on taste variance? Yes. Is the value great? YES. We also had a great ceviche. No notes. And the cookie skillet - no notes. You can't go wrong with a cookie skillet. All in all, very Americana seafood taste, amazing value. Spent $85 for two ppl, feasted, and had more feast to take home. Also service was amazing. Everyone was friendly, fast, and willing to help. The young lady who said she took a 4 month break was AMAZING. so friendly, attentive, perky, and generous despite working for probably less tip than other joints! They also gave me a few extra scoop of ice cream on my skillet and free extra sauce. 10/10 service even though you gotta go to the counter to order, but after that they bring you the food. 8.9/10 - food 10/10 - value and getting what you should expect 10/10 - location was clean, orderly, spacious, no frills. Has it's own parking lot - that's huge! Has some outdoor seating too but it's just a small section in front of the parking lot.

The only thing missing from this food is... ... .... ..... ...... ....... ........ ......... L-O-V-E. It's missing LOVE guys!!! Bluesalty, why do you salty, blue faced smurfs hate us so much that you want to serve us soggy, over salted but otherwise underseasoned slop? What the heck did we do to you? Are you just mad at the world and want to punish it by drolling out whatever 2-bit sloppy sloppy slop slop your kitchen wants to pimp out to it's paying customers? We live in a society. Please start acting like it. If restaurants were customers in a grocery store parking lot, Bluesalt Fish Grill would be the one leaving it's shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot and then peeling out in it's Scion Coupe with the 3 foot spoiler. Turn the bass (re: salt and sogginess) down at least a wee bit before you peel out. Never again... Save your hard earned money.

    Giant prawns (step 1 - $13.82) + peri peri spice rub (step 2) + and Mediterranean salad (step 3 - $7.70)

BlueSalt Fish Grill (established in 2010) is a fast-casual restaurant specializing in fresh seafood dishes and this is the flagship location. There's another location in Lomita. The restaurant was empty when our party came here at 11 AM, but soon the lunch crowd began to fill up this restaurant fairly quickly at 12 PM. [Parking]: The restaurant shares the same parking space as Chicken Dijon and Al Hamra Halal. [Ordering & menu]: Many customers here are return visitors who know exactly what to order. Visitors first order at the counter, grab a number, pick an available table, and food arrives. The menu looks like an encyclopedia, but it is a three-step ordering process: (Step 1) - Choose one of 15+ seafood options. (Step 2) - Choose one of 15+ seasoning options. (Step 3) - Choose two sides OR one of eight salad options. *** Giant prawns (step 1 - $13.82) + peri peri spice rub (step 2) + and Mediterranean salad (step 3 - spinach, arugula, grilled red pepper, zucchini, broccolini, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, red onion, feta cheese, olives & balsamic dressing - $7.70): Peri peri spice rub had the right spicy level and prawns were cooked well. Mediterranean salad was pretty good with a good mix of ingredients. *** I really wish the menu is simpler with some recommended pre-built options, but otherwise this is a great spot for casual business or work lunch. P.S. - There's a small self-serve salsa bar.

Mahi with herb & garlic butter, roasted Rosemary Potatoes with Garlic (Vegan) and Grilled Zucchini Ribbons (Vegan)

Went on a Wednesday around 1pm and it was surprisingly busy! However, that didn't stop the food from coming out in a very quick time! Helpful staff, good service and a great plate of food for a reasonable price! I got the grilled fish plate which comes where you pick a fish, a sauce and two sides. I got the mahi with herb & garlic butter, roasted potatoes and zucchini ribbons (an extra $1.50 for that side). They don't skimp on anything and my plate could be portioned into 2 meals! The herb & garlic butter was pretty standard, the fish was meaty and filling and the zucchini was grilled well! My favorite part was the potatoes though. There was a perfect crisp on them, which gave a nice bite. And they were well dressed with rosemary and garlic, neither being too overwhelming.

As soon as I walked in the energy was off. This bald dude was at the register (never acknowledged me) and when he saw me he told someone else to help me (I'll let you use your imagination as to why he did that) I ordered two fish (salmon and fried) taco plate with arugula salad and roasted corn. Bland. No seasoning. They never checked on me. The presentation of the plate was a mess (see pic). I was disappointed and surprised by the horrible food because they have all sorts of write up's on their walls and good reviews. Nope.

Food with Cajun seasoning butter extremely salty and I like seasoning

I like the places but do not like the messiness of the tacos or wraps. Falls out. Will they simply place the contents into a bowl if asked?

    Is there seating?

Yes - pretty plentiful seating, and parking is good too. This is one of my go-to seafood places in SoCal - huge variety of choices that they will customize for you, and many choices for sides.

Thiscis a very casual place and not the kind you bring your own beverages to. They have a nice selection of beer and wine.

Our server, Raquel, was lovely and on top of things. I had what I think is the best Mai Tai I've ever had, even while in Hawaii! Just delicious. We enjoyed the fried asparagus and bacon deviled eggs as our appetizer. The buttermilk fried chicken, crispy chicken sandwich and the ribeye melt were really good, but I am STILL thinking about how incredible Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni was. So incredibly creamy, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of heat. My daughter orders this every time it's on a menu, and this is by far the best I've ever tasted. SO good. We had mentioned we were celebrating our twins' birthday, and they were served two lovely pieces of chocolate cake with a candle, AND a card for each of them signed by the staff. Never have I experienced that before for a birthday in a restaurant! Just a great touch. I am SO glad my daughter suggested we go here, and every time we're in town we will return. Customer Service Incident- 5-19-26 Check # 72 Table 31…read more This report outlines concerns regarding a recent dining experience at Tin Roof Bistro (TRB) in Manhattan Beach. While prior visits to the restaurant have consistently met high standards of quality and service, several service and billing issues during the most recent visit resulted in dissatisfaction and concern regarding the accuracy of the final bill and tip calculation. Following a lengthy day of medical appointments and a 90-minute drive from UCLA during rush hour traffic, my wife and I decided to dine at Tin Roof Bistro rather than return home to prepare a meal. Based on previous positive experiences, we expected the same level of quality and service historically associated with the establishment. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly and initially received courteous service from our waiter, Brandon. However, several issues arose throughout the course of the meal: We ordered two glasses of wine shortly after being seated. Despite the simplicity of the order, the beverages were not delivered in a timely manner. Our order included: * A Caesar salad to share * Bread service * Two entrées After an extended wait period, I reminded the waiter that the Caesar salad had not yet been served. The salad was then delivered promptly following the reminder. At the time the salad arrived, I specifically requested that the entrées not be brought out until we had finished the salad course. Despite this request, the entrées were delivered within minutes, before we had consumed more than a few bites of the salad. We asked staff to remove the entrées temporarily until we completed the appetizer course. The entrées were eventually re-served and were of good quality. Billing and Point-of-Sale Concerns The primary concern arose during the payment process. The electronic payment screen initially appeared accurate with respect to the total amount due. Based on the displayed total, I elected to leave a 20% gratuity despite the service shortcomings experienced during the meal. After requesting a printed receipt, I discovered the following: * The entrées had been entered twice on the bill. * A corresponding credit had been applied to offset the duplicate charge. * The gratuity calculation, however, appeared to be based on the inflated subtotal before the duplicate entrée credit was applied. This duplicate entry increased the apparent bill total by approximately 54%, which in turn increased the calculated tip amount accordingly. Due to fatigue at the time, I chose not to pursue the matter with management during the visit. However, I also observed a nearby table returning an order, which raises concern that similar billing or service issues may have affected other customers. Concerns and Recommendations Given the increasing public discussion surrounding questionable tipping and point-of-sale practices, this experience raises concerns regarding whether: 1. The issue resulted from an employee action, or 2. The POS system is improperly calculating gratuity suggestions based on inaccurate pre-adjustment totals. While I cannot determine whether this incident was intentional, I strongly recommend that Tin Roof Bistro review its POS system configuration and billing procedures to ensure gratuity calculations are based solely on the actual final total owed by the customer. Additionally, improved coordination between kitchen staff and servers regarding course timing would significantly improve the dining experience. This experience was disappointing, particularly because Tin Roof Bistro has historically maintained a high standard of service and consistency. Although the food quality remained good, the service delays and billing irregularities negatively impacted the overall experience. Should I choose to dine at TRB again, I will pay closer attention to the billing and gratuity calculations before completing payment.
