I am so very excited to be the first to Yelp about Mariscos Playa De Corales! First of all, i have only had the ceviche de pescado from here and it deserves 5 stars. This place used to be Mariscos Chapala, the only noticeable difference is the waitresses outfits, which consist of a white off the shoulder shirt and a tight white mini falda (google translate if you a no espeake espanish) and high heels... which is why i guess every time i go in there nothing but dudes in there. Annnnyyyway, this ceviche de pescado is booooooomb. Yea, i haven't used that word since the 8th grade but this ceviche is good enough reason to pull that word out of the archives. I don't know what kind of fish they use. But it is always very fresh, also included up in the mix is tomato, cilantro, purple onion, and cucumber. The lime flavor is very present and i guess that's why I like it so much. I like the ceviche to be served with a good amount of the juice, other places i have gone seem to just serve the ingredients and leave out the juice which makes it dry, but this place keeps its juicy. :) The service may be a little slow even if its not crowded but the waitresses are always nice. But no fear, there is a juke box blasting Rancheras to keep you entertained in the in between time.... that is if the Ranchera karaoke isnt going on. Yes, thats right i said it, Ranchara/Banda karaoke. And I think on some nights they have live bands play. They serve beer here too. My tip is to order the ceviche to go. They seem to serve waaaaaay more when its a to-go order. The to-go order also comes with chips, limes, tosadas, salsa, crackers, and tapatio. Two tosadas come out to $10 bucks and really its enough to split up into two meals. If you like ceviche you gotta check this place out... oh and they have lunch specials too. read more

I wwas here last night. I had the ceviche tostada & 2 micheladas. The micheladas were good because they had pieces of cucumber & celery=legit. The tostada was delicious, perfectly marinated w/lime & veggies like onion, tomatoe & cucumber. The pieces of shrimp were big & I like my ceviche a little more cut up, still it was yummy. The banda was good & began to play at 8:40. It was loud, so loud I was bernly able to sustain a conversation. I had to scream for my friends to be able to hear me. So overall, cool spot, good music (there was also mariachi prior to the banda), good prices, yummy food. Only complain I have is the service. The waitresses were nice but not courteous. They weren't time efficient, my michelada was empty before they served me another. It would benefit the restaurant if the waitresses were more attentive o the customers. read more

I came to this place for my first time. We came with family since my grandparents are going back home. We walk in and the girl who seated us was so sweet. The girl who attended us on the other hand was rude ! She seems like she hates her job. Giving everyone at my table attitude. When she brought out the orders and since I was at the end and my cousin was next to me the girl doesn't say excuse me and gives my cousin her plate in front of my face. When we finished eating she was picking up our played and my grandma was trying to give her her plate and she walked away.! She would leave and not come back for a while. She hardly ever checked up on us. We asked for boxes and she started helping other tables and then she started talking to her coworkers. We would even have to ask for refills cause she would never ask if we wanted a refill. The girl gave me my cousin a dirty look and we didn't even say or do anything to her. This place has horrible customer service and the waiter was rude as hell! Not only that but lazy ! My first and last. The manager needs to rethink his crew when hiring ! read more

Four shrimp cocktails ordered and all of them were absolutely 100% without a doubt horrible. The shrimp was probably frozen - I say that because they were freezing ice cold not fully defrosted - the whole cocktail was so bland without any flavor, salt, lime and ketchup - nothing helped. I'm only giving this place three stars for the food and service of the waitresses. The food is great! BUT one of the main reasons one goes to this place is to enjoy the live music and Banda. When I went the owner arrived and the Banda was only playing for him and his company and giving their back to the rest of the crowed. I found that very rude. And a few people asked for songs and were ignored. All the attention was just to the owner, very unprofessional from his part. The seafood wasn't good enough to make me want to come back. The rice tastes like instant rice and the margaritas were all margarita mix and very little tequila. You might also want to know that they have karaoke on Saturday nights (maybe other nights too) and it is pretty freaking loud in there. Barely one star- this was the WORST Mexican food I have ever eaten. Cold, from-a-bag chips with canned salsa should have been the first clue. The enchiladas looked like they were stuffed with some chickish lunchmeat. Beans lacked flavor and even substance and seemed almost watered down. On top of this, we paid nearly $40 for two inedible plates of food. El Pollo Fino a few doors away is a much better choice. read more

This place is a hidden gem. I came w my friend after he bragged about the shrimp tacos. I ordered one "govenador" shrimp taco and a tostada de ceviche. The shrimp taco was incredible! The tostada was okay, I generally liked it drenched in lime. I live in the SF valley and I'm willing to drive there any day for those tacos. The waitress was pretty helpful and the ambiance was chill. The jukebox is super cheap too, so I serenaded my friend w 10 songs for $2 of her dollars ;). How else can u enjoy their amazing micheladas but with classic Mexican songs. We had a good time and will be coming again for banda night: Friday and Sundays. read more

Came here with my family a couple nights ago & it was just way too loud. There shouldn't even be speakers because I'm sure people could hear the musicians especially since its a small restaurant. I personally didn't enjoy the mexican music just because its not my cup tea even though I'm mexican LOL but i didn't necessarily care that they play it because we've heard they play live music there so I at least knew what I was getting myself into. My family seemed to enjoy the food but the waitress got my Dads order wrong but he didn't care to even tell them because he was really hungry so he ate the meal they brought out, instead of waiting another 10-15 minutes for the correct order which was the shrimp tacos. They brought him some other type of tacos which I cant remember the name of, but all i know is that the other taco plate's name rhymed with the shrimp taco plates name. He did complain that the tacos they gave him were very greasy. He couldn't eat the last taco because he just didn't find it appetizing due to the grease. Also, a sister of mine ordered a margarita and she said it tasted exactly like a slushy. She couldn't even taste the alcohol in the drink. But it just sucks because the waiters/waitresses cant even hear you properly when taking your order because of the crazy loud music. The fact that I couldn't come into this restaurant and speak with my loved ones was a disappointment and a turn off because we were mostly quiet the whole time we were there because we couldn't hear each other. I think they should really do something about the speaker volume because you will leave with your ears ringing. Overall, the food seemed good (from what my family told me because I didn't eat because I wasn't hungry), the customer service was great because they were all very nice and very attentive with checking up on us every few minutes. I give it 3 stars because of the crazy loud music, the incorrect order, the overly greasy tacos and the $8 margarita that my sister complained about. We get there and no one welcome or greet you for a while. Although it looks like owner just standing at register. Food a bit pricy but good not great you have to add a lot of salt and hot sauce to get that complete taste. Service was the worst every in my life. I have to say it's the first time ever not leaving a tip And I believe in tipping and well. First wait for ever for server to come to our table. Bring us drinks but no chips and salsa until we ask another server salsa good but chips fake kind like for nachos. They take our order bring our order and that's the last we see of any one. So I notice all around everyone having to go to register and get there bill. :( I'm ready to go so I go to register they give me wrong bill owner mad at our server because were all going up for our bill. This place has average food but the service is awful ! My waitress was too busy flirting with another customer and never brought us our refills and our to go boxes . The music is loud and the seating is extremely cramped , not to mention the poor air conditioning . Ceviche is bomb, decent bottle beer selection, some kind of vegtibal seafood soup was great. Portion size was in accordance with cost and quality but would be better if I had an optional portion size with a reduced price to compensate. Portion was a little to much for me I ate it all but easily could have split my lunch with another persons. Service was great and fast people are nice. read more

Do not trust this restaurant with your credit card . They overcharge you without your authorization. We were charged way more than what we were supposed to and the manger did not help one bit . This is a great place to have sea food! The service is great and the food is really good. Not only that, but it is a great place to visit with the family or with friends. On Fridays they have live music which is amazing. They have a live band and you don't see that everywhere you go. It is a bit pricey, but it is definitely worth it! I've been there twice now and both times I was extremely satisfied with everything I got. Definitely coming back soon! read more

Terrible service!! It's almost as if the waitresses here get paid to be rude. Initially I thought it was just my waitress but after overhearing the table besides us complain about theirs i know it's a standard in this place. A series of events with the waitress from eye rolling, to her rushing us to order, even though she was only taking care of us and another table the place was empty. Then let's go to the cooks, we were seated straight across from the kitchen as the cook decided to answer his cell phone while making and order and with the same pair of gloves decided to wipe the sweat of his face and goes on to continue on making the order . While waiting on our check the waitress is taking and order of an older couple besides us and the man asked a question regarding an item on the menu she seemed annoyed by him asking about it when she went to bring their drinks a she was pointing at the gentleman out to the other waitress and giggling at his expense. So rude and unprofessional! Having worked in a restaurant myself for about 6 years this is complete chaos who ever is doing the hiring on this place clearly has very low standards. I visited here recently because friends of mine just moved into the area. Food was decent and service was awful. If you don't speak Spanish then don't expect quick service. Music was extremely loud and unnecessary. After visiting the restaurant I asked a couple my friends neighbors what they thought of it and all they said was "place sucks and they play as late and as loud as they want until the cops come and they dump their recyclable beer bottles non-stop". From what I'm told, they are permitted to be open till 1am on Sundays but only 12:30am on Saturdays (how does that work?) along with that I've heard reports for this place(which isn't even in the Downtown Fullerton area) playing loud music nearly every Sunday night till past 1am. I personally can't stand a business that has no regards their neighboring residential area. I hope someone files a complaint with the city soon. read more

It took us at least 20 mins to order because our waitress 'pretended' not see us, even though there was only four other tables in the entire restaurant. I guess the waitresses think that their attire is what will make them money and not their quality of service. After finally putting in our order our food seemed right out of the microwave. It is over priced and the food quality is can worthy at best. The whole experience was so bad I was dreading the fact that I had to even pay for it! Ended up spending $45 on the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and stay away. read more
