Okay, I have been a patron to Mariscos Uruapan since 2012 and I have loved the food since day one! The Marisco Molcajetes are delicious, their red snapper ( Huachinango) is great, and the ceviche accompanied by a Pacifico Beer is just what I love most about this place. The service has always being hit and miss. I have been served by Hilda many times and she is nice but the service is not that great. My wife and I went today and we were waited on by Teresa and OMG! She Was Amazing! She was attentive, she was polite, she was quick to bring our drinks, cutlery, food; she would remove plates that were not longer needed at the table on her way back from serving other tables. First and foremost Jenny is an awesome human being and a has a beautiful soul. I literally called and asked them to see if they can help me out in a big way and they came through. S homeless man was hungry and I didn't have any cash so I called Uruapan and they helped tremendously. Made a bean and cheese burrito for the homeless guy who was hungry cuz he had no shirt or shoes on and was embarrassed to ask for food. So I took it upon myself to help him out and do did Jenny. Worse dining experience I've ever had at a restaurant. First of all, i went with a party of 4 with one person in a wheelchair (my grandma who was visiting from Mexico). They put us on the first table on the left which the table is labeled as the handicap table. We were eating and many members of the restaurant kept asking us if we were done and if they can take the plates off the table when we were obviously not done and still had food on the plates. We felt super rushed. Towards the end, one of the waiters literally told us we had to order something else or leave because they have a large party waiting. I forgot to note that the large party table is also the handicap table. This was super unprofessional. After spending nearly $200, paying the bill then they tell us we have to order something else or leave. My mom who also accompanied us was not even done with her food before they kicked us out. Love this place... If ever a perfect "hang over spot" or "sunday chillax" dinner... it would be Mariscos Uruapan. Occasionally they do have a live mariachi band that will blast the efff out of your ears while your dining...sometimes you can be in the mood, sometimes not -- just don't plan on having any lengthy conversations over dinner. Can't go wrong with the dozen oysters to start with a couple of beers. A friend of mine and I went one night for the whole she-bang... and we got sold on the mango margaritas...and I swear after two..or was it 3... I felt like I got slipped a roofie... I never felt so drunk off of margaritas. and I will say I WILL GO BACK FOR THEM. Because those bad boys are AMAZING!!!! The mixed fajitas... are DELICIOUS. What has happened to this place we used to come to this spot because it was the place to go for good food and good entertainment. Went to celebrate my wife's birthday and the place was dead no live music wich they told they would have a norteño plying they lied!!! The food was horrible who serves chicken nuggets with rice & beans for kids??? The carne asada was under cooked and the queso fundido was just a glob of cheese. Not to mention the price that they are charging for the food its a total rip off we drove all the way from Vegas and were exited to go there for dinner but It turned out to be the worst dinner I would of enjoyed a big mac from mcdonads more than the dinner from there DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE IT SUCKED!!! I been here before, but when we order our food, freaking plate was literally room temperature cold, I didn't say anything because my friend insisted we come here, she really like this place, the first time I went plate was hot, but today was not good, the girl with long blonde waitress was really nice, they should check their plates before serving them. Straight to the point: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Two days ago, I came here to celebrate my sister's graduation with close family and friends. There's no reservations so we waited 30mins. From our previous experience, we were happy to return at first only to become disappointed. The tables and seats were dirty and unsanitary, which should've been a red flag since COVID-19 is still a problem... we just wiped it down ourselves. The customer service was horrible. Instead of being attended and offered something to drink, I got a view of employees being on their phones inside the kitchen. After we got our food and drinks, we just wanted to try enjoying the rest of the time inside. ...Unfortunately, we ended up almost getting SCAMMED. We noticed a $15 increase in our bill. We spoke to the manager, and he said the pricing on their system appeared fine. We had a menu on our hand, and showed him the different price. He looked annoyed that I approached him about the situation and fixed the bill to the correct price. To top this off, almost everyone to this day been feeling sick. I have never left a Yelp review. This place made me leave one. It was my second time there, the first, good food with decent service, tho it could have been cleaner. It has a "B" rating but I went back because my father enjoyed his previous meal and I get that the "B" rating can be due to anything. I brought him back and tho there were guests, they did not appear too busy. We get rushed by our waitress to order, we weren't ready. She brought our water and I had to flag her down when ready to order. My father and I placed our order.... She asked what type of tortillas we desired and we answered. 15/20 minutes later she returned with father's meal. I asked for the tortillas, as well as a certain green salsa they have. She never checked on us and I attempted to get her attention.... No luck. It took me asking a different waiter to get her for me. She returned.... Mind you, it has been 30 minutes and my father had finished his meal. I had yet to get mine. I asked about the tortillas, green salsa and MY ORDER. She appeared confused and said my dish isn't ready yet. I cancelled my order paid for father's meal. No salsa, tortillas and oh yeah.... No meal. Why do I keep going back? This review is from a few weeks ago, ordered 2 large menudos to go. Asked for a normal meat and hominy and one with just hominy. When we got home one was fine the meat and hominy but the hominy only had nothing but the soup, no meat , no hominy! Nothing! Husband went back and the hostess seemed bothered and confused. She came back with a small container and said, this is all the cook handed me and walked away, it was probably about a scoop of hominy, did not justify the large menudo I ordered. So disappointed, now I know not to order to go, they just manage to screw it up each and every time and customer service still sucks! What a shame, quality and service is bad! Had never been here before but wanted to try some good mexican food and needed to have lunch in the area so gave it a try. Was really happy with food and service and prices were fair too. If I was ever in the area I would definitely stop by there again. Highly recommend. I got a tostada salad. Lots of delicious chicken and a good size for the price. This little hole in the wall cantina has great food, Michelada's and strong Margaritas. From the outside it looks kind of old and dingy but once you walk inside it's surprisingly spacious and has this very dark and night life atmosphere. The decor is pretty nice too. They have plenty of tables and some TV's above their bar. Service is a little slow (I went on a Tuesday for lunch) but that's probably due to under staffing issues. Not sure how it is on a weekend. I can eat their free fresh chips and salsa all day. BOMB! read more

I would give this restaurant a 3 but the fact is. We went to eat a quick little lunch ( On a Sunday) Yes it was packed! But the wait time for everything and anything was too crazy! We all ordered and it took over 1 hour to get out food! Not to mention it took about 20 minutes for me to get my Michelada! I noticed a plate of the same food I ordered was taken out and took to the wrong table! Brought back and then brought to my table. My friend looked over and noticed a curly hair in my beans! I used to come here at least twice a month....not anymore after the BS they just pulled. We decided to try their mango ceviche, which is clearly stated in their menu as $12.99 for a full order (even a large plate is pictured). When we ordered, the waitress asked if we wanted the full order or just a tostada. We asked what was the difference and she said not only the portion would be smaller with the tostada but also cheaper. Given that we wanted to order other items, we opted for the tostada. Well, when I paid, I was charged $14.99 for the "less expensive" tostada. After a long conversation with the lady working the main register and a guy who seemed to be a manger of sorts (both very polite...I'll give them that) and both agreeing that something was amiss, I got screwed and ended up being charged the ridiculous price. They wouldn't adjust it!! It's not the cost. I would have left happy and would have never written this had they just given me the rest of the order that I was charged for (even though the menu says $12.99 and I was charged $14.99). Instead, I will now reach out to the BBB to discuss overcharging and/or false pricing. read more

No professionalism and no structure at all. My Fiancee's family decided to make reservations for the whole family on Saturday night. After receiving a confirmation that it was booked, we got there and was told we had to wait because our table was accidentally given away. We ended up waiting for over 30 minutes. The worst thing was that the staff did not seem apologetic at all. It was more of, "You'll get seated when you get seated." type of attitude. When they finally sat us, there was no "We are sorry for the inconvenience" no "We are going to try and make it up." Nothing! To add insult to injury, the food was nothing great. My sister recommended this restaurant so we went to go check it out. I liked the atmosphere and set up of the restaurant. We were greeted and seated right away. We went for lunch, but don't expect to take a quick lunch here. I ordered the chili relleno with taquitos. The chili relleno was very good, it was not spicy and was filled with cheese and covered in a delicious sauce. The beans are really good, not quite sure what kind of beans they were because they are not your regular refried beans. I also ordered a side of tortillas just because they are made in house.
