I've had my eye on this place for a while and finally got the chance to check it out. I was not disappointed! I had lunch on a Thursday just past noon and we were seated immediately. We shared the Coconut Shrimp, Clam Chowder, Battered Shrimp taco, and Fish n Chips. Coconut shrimp ($8) was fantastic. Came with 5 shrimp, fried beautifully with strips of coconut, served with an orange marmalade dipping sauce. This was really good, especially considering, I'm not the biggest fan of coconut. Clam Chowder ($10) was also really good. Lots of clams, herbs and seasonings made this soup really stand out. Pretty big portion as well so it was good to share. Battered Shrimp taco ($4.25) surprisingly good. You get 3 large, super crispy shrimp on top of a cabbage slaw and some really tasty sauce. Fish n Chips ($19) included 3 large strips of fish. Fried golden and super crispy. The Swai fish was extremely soft and tender. It is kind of greasy as you should expect from fried fish but it didn't give you that nasty greasy feeling after eating it. The kale slaw on the side is fresh and the dressing is tasty as well. The only negative is that the fries are just standard (frozen) fries. Not terrible but not great. If they had better fries, I would have absolutely no complaints at all. Service was very good, friendly, and attentive. Value is solid. Our meal came out to about $45 before tip. We have now been here several times, and I now feel comfortable enough to write an honest review. Our orders have included the fish and chips, shrimp tacos, clam chowder, lobster bisque, the miso cod and the white fish platters. Most everything was very good with the exception of the lobster bisque, which for us, was only okay. My kid really likes the shrimp tempura and chowder which is full of clams and other goodies. The fish and chips is also great, but a little bit on the greasier side, but still very delicious. The few times we've been here, it's always been busy. With it being that busy, orders can take a little more time, which is to be expected. Service is okay, and when busy, you do have to flag them down. They're always nice and friendly though. Saw this place on TikTok the other day and came back after not being here for about a year. Safe to say it did not disappoint. My boyfriend got the fish and chips and honestly they were some of the best we've tried, super crispy and fresh without feeling too heavy. I got the Cajun salmon and it was SO good. Perfect crisp on the outside and still juicy inside. Definitely a 10/10 meal for both of us. The staff here are also incredibly nice and actually interact with customers, which makes the whole place feel really welcoming and family-like. If you love fried fish and seafood, this is the place for you! It's located in an unsuspecting shopping center and if it wasn't for the sign, we would have missed it! But once you walk in, you're greeted by welcoming staff members and delicious food! It was our first time there so we had to try the popular fish and chips dish. We also ordered their coconut shrimp and cajun salmon dish. The coconut shrimp was one of the best I've ever had! It came out piping hot and the coconut taste was prominent. Services were prompt, and our servers were very friendly. They were also very attentive. We ordered lobster bisque, fish and chips, shrimp taco, and fish taco. The lobster bisque was very flavorful with the perfect texture (it was not too thick or too watery)! It has a lot of lobster meat in it. The shrimp and fish inside the taco was very fresh. This was my first visit to this new seafood grill. The service was friendly. I was seated promptly. I didn't wait long for my order. I will serve piping hot. I have to highly recommend the vegetable egg rolls. There were three pieces. It was served piping hot with the usual sweet-and-sour sauce. I also ordered the Burundi with black pepper sauce, which is an Asian Seabass topped with a black pepper sauce, fried onion with a grilled asparagus, Japanese red cabbage, and rice, berry rice. I thought the fish was pretty fair. It was cooked. Well I'd like the seasoning had a little bit of spiciness to it. the asparagus were perfect. They weren't soggy had a bit of crunch, as well as the red cabbage was in a slaw type presentation. I never heard of Rice berry rice, which is a very dark, almost black sticky type rice with a very kind of nutty flavor. It was it was OK. I'm not a big rice fan. I think I would order a different rice substitute next time but overall I really like this place and would plan to come back again whenever I had the need for and a taste for fish or seafood. The place is clean and well organize. The one thing we didn't like was the claim chowder seems to me there was a potato base which we didn't like we prefer New England clam chowder. Came on a date lunch with the husband who has been craving fish and chips., so we ordered the fish and chips. I got it with fries but really wanted to try their garlic rice. I am glad I did. As a Filipino, we love garlic rice, honestly I could have just eaten that with an egg over easy and some longanisa or fried spam. But back to the fish, super crispy and flavorful, but the fish was thin and I should have went with the cod, so I could have more fish. Husband really enjoyed his, because he loves the batter. He did however not like the kale slaw. He wanted a traditional slaw. The second issue is the sauces. For the amount of fish you are served (3 lg pieces) your only given 1 of your choice. He was given 1 tartar sauce and I received 1 little container of malt vinegar. I want feeling the malt, and I do not like tartar sauce so I asked for cocktail sauce. I guess that is not a sauce on the list so they charge you extra. Not to found of that, I got it because I love cocktail sauce, it's not even a homemade sauce from their kitchen. Overall the staff are friendly, the refil your water when it gets low (thank you for that) and the food is good. My wife had the battered fish tacos, with beans and garlic rice, the beans tasted great and my wife loved the tacos, the portions are big enough that you can share or better yet, take leftovers home. the food came out of the kitchen in short time,10-15 minutes. We were seated as soon as we entered but took a while to get back on our table to get our orders , it was a good 15 mins wait. Fortunately, our food was quickly serve. We ordered the shrimp plate, that was average for me. The salad was ok but the fries were dry. The Pacific cod with miso glaze taste really good paired with a very interesting wasabi mashed potato flavor. Saw a real advertising this place and had to try it out. I was craving some clam chowder and fish and chips, I ordered both and some fried oysters. The clam chowder arrived first and right off the bat, the appearance looked off, I took a spoonful and it was not creamy nor did I get an overwhelming clam taste. The texture was clumpy and a little gritty and did not have a cream base like a normal New England chowder has, it almost tasted and felt like blended potatoes and some other stuff. The fried oysters were perfect, however the tartar sauce was a bit on the sweet side for my liking. It's heartbreaking because Ocean House Fish Grill was once a cherished, local business. The food arrived lukewarm within five minutes. The food is no longer freshly cooked. Its Clam Chowder ($8.95) arrived clumpy and runny. The potatoes were literal mush. The Smoky Seared Ahi Tuna (Rare - $19.95) is now extremely tiny. This cold portion of food is plated aesthetically but its flavors were a confused mess. Its the taste of potato salad mixed with cold, tiny fish and dry rice. It appears Ocean House Fish Grill invested heavily in improving the ambiance rather than maintaining the food's taste. The location is clean and shiny, but its chefs' abilities are lacking. The one glittering saving point of Ocean House Fish Grill is the service. The staff/servers work so hard to create a pleasant atmosphere. That's a monumental task especially since the food's taste has imploded and gone downhill. Once upon a time, I genuinely adored Ocean House Fish Grill. Mom wanted lobster bisque, and all the restaurants that said they had it, actually didn't except this one! Drove all the way to San Dimas for this! We had such a great meal. We ordered lobster bisque, clam chowder, coconut shrimp, spicy edamame, cod and chips, and the Branzino. The soups were great, spicy edamame was a perfect snack, coconut shrimp was delicious with the sweet and spicy chili sauce as it's the only coconut dish I like. My cod and chips came with two large pieces of fish and a kale salad, I saved one for later. First time seeing or having a Branzino, wasn't sure what to expect. They cut off the head, butterfly and debone the fish. Was topped with a great garlic sauce. The fish itself was good, just not what we expected. The seared ahi was excellent as always but the calamari plate was disappointing. It was so heavy because of all the breading. It was tasty though and the sauces provided helped cut through the fat. We were seated and given menus, but before five minutes passed, a guy came by to take our orders. I felt rushed, my son had to say he needed a little more time to order but he just stayed there so, to not waste his time, we all gave our orders because he seemed in a hurry. I'm glad this restaurant is busy and has lots of customers. They deserve all the love. But I don't think I can have a leisurely meal here anymore. Within thirty minutes of getting our food, people kept asking if we needed boxes but we had to repeatedly say we were still working on our food. It's okay. We'll just get takeout next time. He invited me back to remake my meal and was incredibly kind and attentive. They even let me taste-test the calamari before I left to make sure it was cooked properly and not too salty.
