This store will trick you with the prices of produce. Apples are marked as $0.99 per lb, but they will bill you $1.39. Same with pears, marked $0.99 but got billed as $1.39. Mangoes, marked as $0.89 per piece but you will get $0.99 on the bill. When you confront them, they say it is what it is. Cheap!! Not going back there again and would recommend that you watch your bill and if there is a difference, at least confront them. read more

I am totally a Market Basket fan. You save so much compared to most other supermarket chains. This is a relatively new market, so it's pretty pleasant. Pretty pedestrian (American usual) in product selection, though the pre-prepped food has sushi and other offerings, if you need specialty items you should go to a specialty market. I'm always friendly with staff and they are friendly with me, plenty of checkout staff know me by sight by now. read more

For the store itself I would give four stars, it is nice, clean and well stocked. Avoid the prepared foods takeout though - thats what I am giving the one star to - it is staffed by people who are not only untrained and totally incompetent, but they act annoyed that that have to go to the trouble of serving you. They have a menu posted up on the wall but don't bother trying to order any of the entrees or sandwiches - they never actually have any of the items. Why they have the menu up I have no idea. If you do manage to actually order something they take forever and screw up the order since they have no idea where anything is or how to put an order together. And do not order any of the "by the pound" items unless you want a full pound. The employees have no math skills and they have no idea that half a pound is 0.5 pounds so if you order half a pound you might get .7, .8 or .9 pounds. Very disappointing overall. read more

When we moved to Marlborough I was disappointed that there wasn't a Market Basket near by and then this location opened! Love shopping here, the staff are always really nice. I love Market Basket as a whole but i am very disappointed in the deli department. I have gone there numerous times and asked for ham shaved. Every time i get home i have about a 1/4 of what i asked for actually shaved, and the rest just sliced regular thickness. It's very disappointing especially since this last time i saw the gentleman actually use a slicer off to the side so that i couldn't see what he was doing. Other than that the produce, meat, and grocery departments are all great. I would like to add that sanitary wipes should be available for hands near the deli department in case something is dripping. They have paper towels available but no disinfectant which is very unsanitary. read more

Great store. Bigger than Stop and Shop in Marlborough where I used to go and much cheaper than Wegmans. Great produce and meat and fish. Good prices. Friendly staff. Never seen it crowded and lines are short. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because they don't sell beer and there is no liquor store in the same mall so that requires a separate stop. read more

I really like this Market Basket - I shop every Sunday early morning or mid morning! The produce is always fresh and plentiful. They are stocking constantly. The meat department staff is friendly, helpful and they answer the phone even when you call at 8 pm. I have never gotten beef, veal or pork that hasn't been fresh. The chicken selection is of great variety and lasts beyond the sell by date - which means it is fresh as well. If they don't have something they go out of their way to help me by looking in the back stock or by ordering it. The bakery is where my husband hangs out. Usually window shopping but if he wants something that is just out of the oven they will pack it immediately for us to take home. The cashiers are friendly and very accommodating if your fussy and want to pack all your own things they let you - no hassle. If you realize you forgot something If you have realized you forgot something the front end staff will go to an isle and get it for you. You cant beat the prices. I save money each week. No complaints and when forced to pick up other items at Stop and Shop, Shaws or Price Chopper I dread the added cost. I really have nothing but awesome things to say about this Market Basket. read more

I travel a lot for business and shop at a lot of markets. This one struck me immediately as DIFFERENT. Not fancy, nor pretentious. But clean, well organized, the employees were personable and although very busy, did not seem harried or beaten down. they all wore shirts and ties and looked well groomed. The carts were gathered up quickly from the clean lot. The aisles were not clogged with display after display. Anyone know if this company offers stock shares? read more

Forced to visit Market Basket during the power outage from the snowstorm, to purchase one item: hand sanitizer. Couldn't find it. Asked one girl stocking shelves - "It's on the other side of the endcap." Not there. Asked another boy stocking shelves, and had him bring me to where it was. Check out time: there are NO SELF CHECKOUT registers in this store, so I visited nasty Pam M, cashier # 509 for my one item. Great attitude, Pam. The prices, hospitality, and service are great. The store manager gave us free coffees when he saw us walking around with Starbucks, telling us that he thinks we will enjoy it. This is not out of the fact that we enjoy Starbucks, as I enjoy a lot of different coffee places. The coffee here tastes watered down and burnt. Needless to say, I drank enough to give it a review and dumped the rest. Other than that, I have no complaints. read more

Great selection of produce, greens, meat, fish, and even ethnic food. It gets busy on Sunday, so unless you really need to, avoid that day. Also, the greens are freshest midweek because that's when it gets delivered I think. read more

I love this store! They are the only place I can regularly buy marrow bones for my dogs. The produce and deli are fresh. What I like best is how helpful and warm the staff are! I shop at the Hudson store regularly and it is a very nice place--good selection, nice staff. I recognize that Market Basket participates in a number of community activities, but I wish they would set and enforce some guidelines for people soliciting at their door--either fund-raisers or petitioners. Two weeks in a row, they've had people gathering signatures for anti-gas tax legislation at the front door who are overly persistent and somewhat aggressive in blocking customers going in and out. I don't mind them being near the entrance and asking for whatever but to chase you down as you go in and demand attention is too much. read more

I have shopped at Market Basket a few times now and I am torn. The employees are amazing. Very polite, extremely helpful and seem happy to be working there. It's nice to see that and some other local stores could learn from that. After the employees though, I start to struggle. First of all, the layout. I just don't get it. Ice cream in the produce dept, milk all the way across the store from there and meat kind of all over the place. I never know where to start when I am there and, there have been times that, due to the crowds, I have actually just walked out of the store, midway through my shopping attempts. It feels very overwhelming in there at times. Right before they close on a Friday night or as soon as they open on a Saturday are the best times to go, otherwise it's just not worth it. Finally, I have a question about the dates on their products. For example, I buy Garelick Farms Over the Moon fat free milk. If I buy it at Stop and Shop, it has a date of 4-5 WEEKS before the sell by. This morning at Market Basket, all of their Over the Moon had dates of 1/8 and 1/9. That's today and tomorrow! How?!? And this is a regular occurrence there. I often find it has less than a week and usually just a day or 2. I bought yogurt today that I have to return because (and shame on me for not looking) but it expires tomorrow. I bought the same yogurt (Activia vanilla) at Stop and Shop almost 2 weeks ago and that expires on January 30th. Same with eggs. Market Basket has great prices but I think it's a classic case of you get what you pay for. Over the Moon milk is $.30 cheaper than at Stop and Shop and $1 cheaper than at Price Chopper but it's not worth the savings or the crowd dodging and long lines if it's not going to be any good a day after its purchased. I am all about value and saving money on my weekly grocery bill but I now have to go to another grocery store anyway to get milk and some other perishables so it may just not be worth it to go back. read more

I have shopped at Market Basket for over 10 years so you can imagine how pleased I was when Market Basket opened up in Hudson. It was all that I had hoped it would be. The staff is helpful the prices are low and the General Manager along with others are very responsive and friendly so my wife and I immediately stated to do 90% off all of our shopping there for the last three years until last Saturday. Last Saturday was so bazar that I thought I was on one of those "got you" reality shows. About two years ago I notice that when I would bring my tomato's home there would sometimes be a fingernail puncture and at times if there was a new bagger our bread would be at the bottom for the bag. Even though the cashiers were very friendly and attentive our tomatoes and bread still ended up as collateral damage. So as a habit for the last two years or so when we would go to the checkout I would ask for two small white bags and we would put our tomatoes and bread in them and ask the cashier to hand it back to us after the rung them up. I thought this was a small price to pay to continue our great shopping experience Market Basket and the cashiers had gotten use to us to doing this. Well last Saturday when my wife and I was about to check out we again asked the cashier for our two bags and we started to walk to the checkout lane when I was approached by a manager I do not ever remember speaking to before but he has seen my wife and I shop there for the longest time. I am a senior citizen and I was rattled by his sternness when he asked me what I was doing with those two bags. At first I thought he was being humorous because all of the other store managers including the General Manager have such a friendly light hearted relationship with the customers. However it did not take me long to realize that he was serous. So I demonstrated to him how put our tomatoes and bread in the bag and the reasons why and when I got was that he could not be clear if I was stealing and even though I pointed out that we were heading for the checkout lane and not out the door it had no effect on his mood or opinion of us. He then instructed me to remove the tomatoes and bread out of the bag, even though he asked me to demonstrate to him how we used the bags, or he would call the police. Without saying anything further my wife and I looked at each other in shock, and then calmly told him we were leaving the store and left our basket of groceries with him. As we were walking away his parting words to us were that he was calling the police anyway. Why? I called the General Manager who was working at the store two days later. He had heard of the incident and was aware that my wife put our tomatoes and bread in white bags at the register and recognized that there was no act of stealing or any other crime since no one was leaving the store with an unpaid item. I soon learned that the store manager had not told the General Manager that he was going to call the police on my wife and I. The General Manager apologized as I expected he would and then invited me to return to the store on Sunday to receive an open and public apology from the store manager. Even with the store manager's statement expressing remorse, how can we ever shop at Market Basket again? read more

The store itself is nice. Generally fully stocked and the employees are friendly. The issue is with the people that manage the store. They never have enough registers open and the front end supervisors barely pay any attention to what is going on. When it gets backed up and people are waiting in long lines, they are too busy chatting with employees instead of reacting and making those employees open another register. read more

After all the effort us shoppers in Hudson and Marlborough put into supporting the store thru a very difficult change in management it reeally hurts to hear that, unlike Hannafords, Walmart, BJs, etc., they have no plans to support the needy via our local food pantries/soup kitchens. I went to go get a simple burger and the burgers are good. I always go there to get a burger but today changed everything I went to get a burger tonight and I watch them cook my burger. As I watch one older man and a younger woman working at the burger station open the grease catcher and they both stared into it and the older man took one of the spatulas on the grill and start moving something in the grease catcher and I see it's a dead rat. They both stop and stare at it. As the older man takes the spatula and uses it to pick up the dead rat along with the grease that has been in there for probably a couple of hours and scoops everything into the trash. After he was done cleaning the grease catcher he puts the spatula back on to the grill. After a few minutes I watched that spatula be picked up by the younger women and use the same spatula to flip my burger. I will never get a burger or any food they make from there again.
