This store reminds me of my favorite grocery store in Hawaii, Foodland and it seems to be like a cousin to Whole Foods, but more local. This Market of Choice has a bakery, organic items, hot foods, deli, sushi, take out items, an extensive wine and beer area, bulk items by the ounce/pound, houseplants, home items...the list just goes on. The people working there are all friendly and helpful. Looks like they love being there! It makes my visits here enjoyable, which means I spend more money. lol read more

The Staff are incredibly helpful. It's nice to have them approach you and ask if they can help you find something. The store is well maintained, clean and well lit. The quality of the produce speaks for itself in appearance and ripeness. The deli has hot and cold food options available including burgers, sandwiches and bowls. There is also a large seating area with tables. This place even has a wine tasting area?! Really? Security is very discreet. It's nice not having cameras and monitors obtrusively in your face. This store is one of those rare places where the term 'quality' actually means something more than just a pretty label or a high price. read more

Every time I come here for a whole roasted chicken in deli, they have about 10 "all natural chickens" and no "organic chickens". I come here specifically for the organic whole roasted chickens. Would be nice if they made more. I have came here at least 5 times in the past 3 months, and have left the store every time empty handed. Other than that great store! I went with there bakery for my wedding on 9/7/25. The cupcakes and cutting cake were so beautifully done and delicious. The prices were very reasonable given the artwork that they did. The Willamette St. location in Eugene is the one to go to as the other location gave me cute but meh options but not what I was looking for. I stopped in here to burn some time while waiting for my glasses to be fixed next door. I hadn't been to a Market of Choice before but I knew it was expensive. Being an Arizona native I immediately realized that Market of Choice is just an AJ's but make it Oregon - it's expensive, health-oriented, and has an air of affluence that made me feel out of place. I browsed for a bit and then went to the bathroom - even that felt fancy. I ended up getting two small hot bar boxes and a big salad bar box, totaling up to $35. Pretty expensive for a salad, some mac and cheese, and some mashed potatoes. The person who checked me out was quick and nice, getting me on my way with no delays. The store was clean and is situated in a shopping center so there's a huge parking lot you can use. There's a light for the shopping center so it's really easy to get in and out of. I don't see how people can shop here regularly - paying 2.99 for something when I can get that exact same product, same SKU, at Safeway for .99 seems crazy to me. It's fine to wander through but that's about it. read more

MOC has probably the most complete grocery shopping offerings for my family's needs, organic products being those I am primarily interested in. I'd like to see more organic offerings and to have some products # of facings expanded. If only one brand of a product in a particular food group is organic, that often sells out first and will be out on the shelf, more facings would rectify that. Otherwise, a great store. read more

This is the second I ordered a birthday cake from the bakery. And they are expensive the full and half sheets, but it used to be worth it, but the last two cakes I have bought have been terrible. They didn't follow instructions, they just drew on the design without any definition or piping, it didn't look like the picture at all, nor was the writing as I specified. Got a NAE Organic Turkey from you, 21.91 pounds @4.99 per Ib. Came lightly frozen, upon thawing I found out that there was over 2 pounds of water that was in the turkey which means I got 19 + pound turkey. I worked in the food industry for over 30 years and adding water to a product is well known scam. Bottom line is I have bought turkeys from you for years, but no more. When Market of Choice took over the supermarket at this location, I stuck with them and shoped at this location for several years. When they built their new (current) store, I began to have some doubts. I admit that it's very cool looking, and having a lounge in front, an metal baskets gave it a bit of an "upscale" feel. But did they REALLY need a 30-foot ceiling? Horribly wasteful of energy, as all that overhead space has to be heated and air conditioned. Oh well. But I guess the utility bills got to them because all the prices went up, until they are now one of the most expensive grocery stores in the region. In fact, so many of their goods became so overpriced compared to other stores selling the same items that eventually the only thing I went to MOC for was their bakery and their import beer selection. Unfortunately, those attractions have begun to fade as well. Imported beer has largely been replaced by super over-priced local microbrews. I support local breweries and have no objection to offering their wares along side classic European brews, but not -in place- of the original brews. And not at prices like $32 for a single 12-oz. bottle of beer that -- in the original German format -- sells for under $5. That their beer manager seems to be clueless about beer just adds insult to injury. (He had no idea what I meant about their delicate bottled Pilsners getting skunked by being stored directly in front of glaring fluorescent lights, and I had to explain to him that, contrary to their signs on the cooler, Hood River is not in Europe.) So much for their beer. The bakery still produces some good fare -- provided that you time it correctly and get it soon after it's come out of the oven, and not after it's sat in a bag on a shelf for a couple of days. I go back every now and then, hoping that maybe the place will turn around. But so far no luck. It's a really nice -looking- store, but 80% of what they sell is available at Albertson's for a lower price, and the 20% that makes them unique is over-hyped, and not what it once was. Pity. Have shopped at 29th Market of choice for years. Over the past 2-3 years they have become VERY specialized or perhaps fancy, but they stopped carrying many of the basics that I bought there. (Milk, yogurt,salad dressing, ice cream, cereal, soft drinks assorted frozen foods ) Staff are helpful, and it remains a pleasant location. Capricious choices on the part of the buyers-as large as this market is, I have often been unable to find standard groceries. I have been shopping at this MOC on and off for 6 years. Will not shop there again (even if I'm absolutely desperate). Bad juju (read ambience), very poor quality produce, weird off brand products, obscenely high prices. Yeah...no. It's a tad on the pricey side for Eugene, although it's comparable to Whole Foods when it comes to cost. They have a broad selection of prepared foods, however, best to read labels to know what you're eating modified food starch does appear in some of the salads. The inside of the cake was even better, the lemon poppyseed cake and raspberry/cream cheese frosting filling were incredible! 4.5 Stars - I really appreciated the breadth of selection here - lots of organics, local sources and major brands for health oriented foods as well a conventional regular stuff - so you could grab a Pepsi here too if you wanted. Great coffee bar (although not the friendliest cashier there) but everyone else in the store - clerks, cashiers for the grocers are super helpful and friendly. We visited this store multiple times during a visit to Eugene and was pleased with our finds. Hot bar, soups, salads - are clearly labeled for ingredients especially helpful if avoiding gluten. TONS of options all through the store - Cheese Selection which even had local Raw Goat milk in glass containers, bulk section, personal care section, produce - even eggs - you can find quail eggs, organic, conventional and even soy/corn free feed eggs. WIsh I had one of these near me. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and compared to Whole Foods in California. read more

After trying all of their different cakes over the years (thanks to the individual slices they offer), we decided to go with Market of Choice for our wedding cake. They were very easy to work with and created a beautiful cake for our wedding day that had all the details and accents that we wanted. The three-tiered cake was a perfect representation of the tastes of Oregon that we were looking for. The bakery even used their frosting magic to patch up our cracked cake-topper. We also decided to work with the Market of Choice florist. The florist and her staff were very accommodating when it came to assembling our bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. They honestly had the best deal out of all the different florists we talked to in town, and were able to order the flowers that we were asking for. They also let us include our own special accents into the our various arrangements. My wife and I highly recommend the bakery and florist at this Market of Choice to anyone who is interested in a professional one-stop shopping for their event needs. read more

Market of Choice is a wonderland for foodies. They have almost anything you could want. The bulk section is rather epic--there are quite a few alternative flours, and tons of sweets and salty snacks. I explained I needed a steak to be thinly sliced and the "butcher" said he could do it 1/8 of an inch. This is NOT 1/8 of an inch. I have to go buy a meat mallet now and pound it thin enough. It's extremely unprofessional to lie and deliver subpar service as a result. When I requested it to be sliced for the particular dish I am making, he didn't understand what I was trying to communicate and didn't seem interested in attaining clarity. "Take steak, slice thin", not that complex and he took the job on and promised 1/8 of an inch. A butcher who gets confused and annoyed at the prospect and notion of a common duty associated with his job is not a butcher. He could have done the job in a satisfactory way, he just didn't put the effort in. Longs butchers could have done it but they're closed today. They're not professionals here, don't go there thinking they're actual butchers, they're not. I have loved Market of Choice, especially because during the pandemic I felt safer shopping there because they adhered to the restrictions meant to protect those of us at high risk. That changed today. I went in and saw two different people without masks. The signs at each entrance state that masks are required but when I spoke with the manager he said they are no longer requiring it. The state and local mandates remain in place right now so it begs the question 'what other laws do they feel are optional?' I will not go back. At least at other stores I know they don't care and it doesn't cost as much. I won't pay extra for them to be just like every other place. read more

What has happened to the bakery in this place? It has fallen hard into a abyss of frozen-bake and package goods. Super disappointed finding no items made in house. The gluten free chocolate chewy cookie is now 10 bucks and usually fall apart before chewy has a chance apparently. Found so many rotten items in three different peach, plum bins it kinda got me when the fruit fly went by. Well I guess hard times in the MOC are bad. My wife and I have always enjoyed shopping at MOC due to their great selection fresh local produce, but recently they have become a safe haven for us during the pandemic. As you walk through the store you constantly see employees with sanitizing carts, cleaning handles, shopping carts and all surfaces that come in contact with the public. Generally I've been very appreciative of Market of Choice's efforts during the pandemic in keeping the store very clean and as safe as possible. I noticed today that they had KN95 Respirator masks for sale that were manufactured in China by aab.com. I just found a report online that this mask had its FDA approval withdrawn as of May 7, 2020, meaning I think that the FDA found that they do not perform up to standards. I lived in Boulder, CO for many years and there is three Whole Foods there. Boulder had a Co-op that lasted a few wonderful short years, but I think because of the "bigger/better" Whole Foods was hard for them to make it. Upon returning to Eugene Market of Market of Choice feels like Whole Foods even looking oddly like it. In fact the Register-Guard said a Whole Foods is moving into Eugene in 2016 bringing in 150 jobs. Will Sundance, Kiva, Capella, and New Frontier survive with MOC/Whole Foods? Let's hope or rather let's stop hoping by voting w/ our dollar walking our talk where we spend our $. I believe in a green economy and voting w/ one's dollars. Each dollar spent is voting for the kind of world you wish to see. Market of Choice is very vegan friendly like Whole Foods is. It is massive like Whole Foods and like Whole Foods it has both organic/ conventional produce. I love that Grower's Market, Friendly, Sundance, and so on are all organic not giving the consumer the option to buy conventional produce. Also, Market of Choice unlike Whole Foods has a lot of junk foods ie conventional diet unhealthy foods found in typical supermarkets such as King Soopers and Fred Meyer. Of course you can say well Market of Choice is better than King Soopers or Fred Meyer which it is and carries organic/vegan foods (it does), but still why settle for bronze when you could go for gold at the stellar above average anywhere natural food stores in the country. I think Grower's Market is one of the best natural food stores on the planet that encourages package free diet w/ all organic produce and wonderful bulk. Sundance is nearly all vegetarian w/ the best hot food and cold bar on the West Coast not too much anywhere I've traveled in North America. Grower's Market, Sundance, Capella, and New Frontier are much better shopping experience in my opinion, so vote w/ your dollar and experience it there. read more

The service in the Deli is horrendous. They refuse to create a sandwich for customers based on the fact that a sandwich is already available, pre made. HOWEVER, the pre made sandwich contained an ingredient the customer wasn't able to consume. Their recommendation was, "choose another sandwich." read more

Prices at this market is pretty horrendously overpriced. Quality is pretty good although I can go a little further to Costco and get even better quality for much less in cost. And I really don't know why it's called market of choice as I don't see a whole lot of choices outside of western food. You don't find much of Asian, middle eastern, Cajun or Russian/german/French food at their hot food section. I would give it fewer stars but I do like a couple of nice ladies at the check out stands. Other than that, it's a place to shop in a pinch when driving to TJ or Costco isn't an option. read more

I love this MoC because they have the food court area that just has a ton of already-made or made-to-order food options. And the food there is so good! I had the ribs last night and had super low expectations, but they were actually delicious as were the grilled veggies. Let's just say that you could pass off this food as homemade proudly if you were trying to impress someone . . . Not that I'm recommending lying to your friends, but you know you wouldn't want to take credit for most store-made food. Like seriously, who would want to pretend that they made Albertson's macaroni salad? I don't shop here frequently because it's out of my way and the price seems to be a little steep, but I love the variety at this store. They have a ton of fancy cheeses that I love and can't pronounce. They have one of the best bakeries in town. I just adore their Chocolate Lovers Cake. I once liked to shop here. I was young and needed a job. I was part of the health scene in town so I decided to apply here thinking it may be a good fit. Then I went to a job interview at this location and was mocked by HR for the shoes I was wearing. At the time it was my nicest pair of shoes. It was the most unprofessional interview I've ever experienced. The HR man basically made fun of the shoes I was wearing, making me feel insecure. I realized he wasn't going to hire me as soon as he saw my shoes. Then he proceeded to tell me I needed a haircut (two inch long curly hair, manicured) and to shave my beard (1/8th inch long). There was two men interviewing me, one of which was nice, had a much longer beard than me and was wearing a football jersey. The other man was just hurtful and mean. The worst part, a week later I was shopping here and overheard the cheese monger laughing with a customer, mocking me, talking about my interview and my SHOES. She obviously didn't realize I was the person in this interview. I couldn't believe it. I never shopped here again and told many others about this experience.
