I finally checked this place out when some family members and I stopped in for a quick break from shopping to get some drinks. Our experience was not great, honestly. A bottle of water and two milkshakes for the kids cost nearly $30. Per the children's reviews, the milkshakes were okay but tasted like melted ice cream and lacked the typical thick consistency of a regular milkshake. The cashier also neglected to ring up one additional item we ordered, and it took a while for us to realize that. We had to reorder, and the review of the final item, a tea drink, was just okay. I can't comment on the fro yo as we did not try that, but the Turkish breakfast is 100% 5 stars! We loved the spread which included a variety of dips and yogurt, cheese, jam, olives, fruit and vegetables. This was accompanied by delicious savory breads and a fantastic Turkish egg dish (menemen). They were sweet enough to also bring some plain scrambled eggs for our toddler to enjoy. Everything was perfectly fresh and flavorful. The family running this place now could not have been sweeter. They really care about the quality of the food and your enjoyment. We loved being able to eat on the beautiful and casual patio while enjoying the experience. This place is absolute garbage for Fro-Yo...I used to come here frequently when it was yogurt square and went back this weekend when we were in the area. First, I think it's trying to be about 100 different things. Turkish breakfast, fro-yo, bubble tea, ice cream...it's just too much for this tiny space. We came specifically for the fro-yo and to sit outside on the very nice day. First, half the yogurt machines had out of order signs on them. Then, even the ones without signs it was a crapshoot if they were working.....2 of the 3 we tried that were supposedly working were dispensing just liquid. Then for toppings, you have to have the person behind the counter put your toppings on. Personally, I believe it should not be priced by weight if you can't control the volume of toppings you are getting. The toppings are also incredibly limited, they had like 8 kinds of boba but only strawberries and blueberries for fruit (and they were out of the strawberries when I went). They seem to have an abundance of the cheap toppings like chocolate chips, graham cracker crumbs, and marshmallows. We paid $14 for 2 small yogurts with only 3 toppings each, and it was a miniscule amount of yogurt. Overall will not be back to this identity crisis of a shop, the prices alone are scandalous! I love coming to Market Square! I love the variety offered for sandwiches, ice cream, frozen yogurt, protein shakes, boba. Music is good, lots of toppings for ice cream and frozen yogurt, and it's very clean and kept in the store. The staff is really nice and quick with everything! One of my favorite things is the outdoor seating with lights, decorations and happy little plants :) The owners and management are local and you can tell they care about the quality of the store which makes all the difference. Its also really nice they're part of the Lincoln Square businesses and do collaborations with other stores and businesses. My recommendation is the Italian sub 100%, I get it all the time. Strange froyo place, will not be coming back. 1. The toppings are BEHIND the counter so you have to ask for each and every one and their quantities. 2. Out of only 10 flavors, the first 2 I pulled the lever on were not functional. "Error" was plastered on the screens. Two whole options weren't available, not to mention if you wanted to mix those, which means 4 whole options out of 15 weren't available. In the end, the flavor I ended up getting wasn't even good. Pink lemonade sorbet was way too sour. 3. Place is to find because they changed to "Market Square" and have not updated anything online (Apple Maps, Google, Google Maps, Yelp..). I love me some froyo, and a place that readily puts the nutrition info right next to each flavor earns this fit-freak's respect. This place is similar to most self-esteem serve softserve yogurt places. Grab a cup, or ask for a few sample pixie cups and head over to the frozen yogurt stations. Various stations showcase the flavor, along with a description of the flavor and nutrition info. Each station has two flavors, a lever per flavor, or the middle lever, which combines the two flavors together. This is a cool concept, although I think this place didn't think through on some of their station pairings. I understand that most people just look at each flavor individually, but I feel like they're not capitalizing on the potential combos. For example, they had the mango tango next to the key lime pie. A combo worth trying? I'm not so sure. Once you fill up your cup, head over to the toppings station where they have different toppings like mochi, Reese's peanut butter cup crumbles, caramel, strawberries, etc. As of this time if writing, they charge 49-cent per ounce, which is comparable to other froyo by the ounce places. Favorite frozen yogurt place of all time! Been coming here for years since it opened. I'm super picky about fro yo because most other yogurt places have a weird or sour after taste but not here! My son loves the cotton candy flavor (it really tastes exactly like cotton candy). My other favorites are cookies and cream and graham cracker (sooo good). All frozen yogurt is over priced to me but at least here it's worth it. The space has very bright lights and there's always at least one employee at the checkout where you pay and select your toppings. This is a tough one to rate, but I'm going to round up from 3.5 because what I got really hit the spot when I needed it. You've seen this place before--it works like all (and looks like most) of the places that do the same thing. Here are a few things that make Yogurt Square stand out: 1. Coconut chips as well as shredded coconut 2. A large, enclosed outdoor seating area on the Leland side 3. A peach-mango flavor that absolutely knocked my socks off Usually I go for chocolate-based frozen treats, but it had been a hot day and I really wanted a cold, fruity dessert. A cup full of that peach-mango with coconut, strawberries, and mangoes pushed my happy buttons in ways that I can't describe without incurring FCC fines. Unfortunately they have a few detractions as well. First, their toppings selection is not nearly as broad and inspired as, say, Forever Yogurt. Second, the store smells overwhelmingly of soap: not bleach or Pine-sol or dish-sanitizer, but actual hand soap. Smacks-you-as-you-open-the-door, stings-the-back-of-your-throat levels. I don't know how this happens but it's a major turn-off. And finally, one of my biggest pet peeves about a business: the unnecessary use of flat-screen signage and menus instead of traditional printed materials. Sure, it looks slick and modern, but you are burning all that carbon to what end? Coolness? Lame. I would accept the argument that using a digital menu allows you to make changes easily. But in Yogurt Square's case, they have a large screen at the far end of the yogurt machine area which does nothing but show a static image of the four steps required to purchase their product: take a cup, fill it with yogurt, add toppings, pay by the ounce. Come on, if a person needs this tutorial to figure out how the operation works, he is too stupid to ethically take his money. You know what, I talked myself into rounding down. 3 stars seems fair for a place that simultaneously joyified me and got under my skin. This location had closed up for awhile over the winter to undergo a remodeling job, though from what I hear they kept a few things from the old regime including these kooky puffy pink stools. The place is self serve and soft serve, and you pay by weight so don't overdo it with the toppings! There are plenty of yogurt flavors too, so you can really go crazy with your mixing and matching of flavor profiles (or mismatching in my case). That's the beauty of self serve places; you can get as much or as little as you want! After dumping in various fruits and candies, I get to the register and see another display with Fruity Pebbles, sprinkles and other confections. I am subtracting a star from my first 5 star review because lately, every time I go with my kids, they never have chocolate or strawberry. I know they alternate flavors but these are your basics and are staples anywhere else you go. The original tart has been out of order now for the past 3-4 visits. I prefer the original tart because I do not like the added sweetness of the rest of them so I just add on fruit toppings but obviously this is not a possibility when even the ORIGINAL is out of order.
