When we got there they were quick to take us in and the server was attentive and quick. However.. The food was TERRIBLE and I mean why are they charging you almost thirty dollars for something that is thawed out and reheated incorrectly. It was hard to waste so much money and not eat anything but the food was not good at all. Too much goat cheese crumble for the pasta and the soup was very Smokey and unusual for clam chowder, the ribs were not of good quality and had not tenderness. It was hard to leave the server a good tip when the food was that bad but nonetheless it isn't her fault so I left with an empty belly and an empty wallet. read more

One of my favorites in this coastal town up at North Pacific about two miles from the Pacific Ocean has the best Italian dishes at the price that's hard to beat. They also make many original Greek and Mediterranean dishes. They make fabulous Falafel Fritters made by hand with fresh ingredients and served with Tzatziki sauce that is breezy with rich cream and herbs. Bacon wrapped dates and mini steak and chicken kebab are moist and delicious. The salad bar is freshly stocked and daily soup is always available. The main dishes are usually pasta and lasagna entrées made with homemade style with special marinara sauce. I also recommend shrimp scampi dishes. The vegetarian pasta is pretty decent! I really recommend Greek dishes, mainly Gyro plate and Moussaka with béchamel sauce. They make the best lamb shank dish. They have just about everything. Go forward my Few Mukbang Friends! read more

Traveling for work and did not expect to find much in this city for a foodie. When I saw a combo of my 2 favorite foods together- Italian and Greek, I thought it was to good to be true. I ordered the food to go and I wanted to try a few things so I got Best of both worlds- Italian lasagna and Moussaka (a sort of greek lasagna). Personally I did not love either one (wait what you gave them 4 stars?!) The Moussaka came off with too much cinnamon for me. And I just didnt care for the lasagna, however I am very picky with lasagna. So maybe this is my fault for ordering this and others may love it Greek fries- OK these were AMAZING. Honestly I would eat these everyday if I could. The gyro meat was great and so was the tzatziki. Literally called my friend in SoCal who is also a foodie to rave about these fries. My next pass through town I will be back to try something else (and for more greek fries). read more

Amazeballs! Had a really fantastic dinner here, so happy! Service was friendly and fast, beer on tap was nice and fresh, other drinks were good. Food was really awesome! And dessert was tasty too. Party of 7 and we ordered: Falafel gyro, surf and turf kebab plate (tried both potatoes and rice as sides, tzatziki and pesto good, meat perfectly cooked and juicy not dry, remoulade was bomb ) greek sampler, wedge salad, creme brûlée cheesecake, and berry cake. The service was fantastic. The food was meh. The salads and Prosecco were good. The meatballs tasted like Chef Boyardee. The falafel was hard, dry, turd-shaped and inedible. The fried zucchini was good but really greasy. The pasta was huge portions but the sauces weren't great. We took a lot home but threw it all away. The baklava looked good but it was wet and soggy textured. It needed more phyllo, and better packaging to retain its crispness. We were pretty disappointed. This is an excellent restaurant, and we've eaten there often, but I want to mention a bad experience I had yesterday at dinner yesterday. We were seated at the table farthest from the kitchen, but we could clearly hear both the music piped into the dining room and the music from the kitchen. That is, two different songs at once: Greek and rock. Totally unpleasant and unrelaxing. I asked the waitress if one of them could be turned off, and she had a slight attitude like "Really? Is there something the matter with you? Who cares?" but she did turn off the dining room music. Suggestion to owner: Buy the kitchen staff some nice quality headphones, and have relaxing Greek music in the dining room. Other than that, everything was perfect, but next time I go there I will first take a listen, and if there's a clash of music sources, I'll go somewhere else. read more

After being on the road for days I was craving a nice sit down anniversary meal and Italian sounded great. Looked it up on Yelp and Marlo's came up. Turns out it's Italian and Greek so you've got options here. What a perfect end to the day! We were greeted and seated promptly and after looking at the menu we knew we made a great choice coming here. Our server was wonderful and she answered our questions about the menu and offered recommendations. She brought us out a sample plate of the special of the night and hubby ended up ordering that (raviolis, chicken breast, and mixed veggies) with included salad or soup. I chose the lasagna and we ordered a few items off the tapas menu (bacon wrapped dates and eggplant Parmesan slider) Everything was hot fresh and delicious and since it was our anniversary dinner they threw in a caramel cheesecake slice with a candle :) I would highly recommend this place if your hungry and coming through town or live here. After spending a few hours getting tattooed, my wife and I were ravenous and needed something to eat for dinner before heading back to our AirBnB in Brookings. I found Marlo's online and Greek food sounded good so we decided to check them out. We got there about an hour before closing and were greeted and seated immediately. Tables were well distanced and Covid protocols were in full effect. I had the Gyros and fries which were delicious! The tzatziki sauce was also quite tasty as I asked for an extra side for dipping my fries. My wife raved about her Chicken Alfredo and I would've stolen more bites if I wasn't already full! We ordered take out from Marlo's when we were in town visiting a couple weeks ago, and I can't say enough about their great customer service. Unlike some other places in town, Marlo's is taking the pandemic very seriously, requiring masks and ensuring people stay safely distanced. I believe the woman who helped us was named Kristen, and she was incredibly efficient and organized, double checking that all items were packaged in our relatively large order. Beyond the service, the food was also delicious and fresh! We ordered a couple Greek salads, the Greek fries, Greek dips & pita, a gyro plate, a kebab combo, and several desserts. Portion sizes were generous (so much so that we had leftovers for days!), and I found the gyro meat to be particularly flavorful. Marlo's is one of my favorite spots in town, but I hadn't been since the pandemic started. Not a whole lot of places up here are taking the virus seriously enough (no masks, no social distancing, etc.), but I'm happy to report that Marlo's is not on that list. Ordering take-out was a breeze, every staff member had a mask on, we kept our distance from each other, and there was more hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes around the restaurant than I could count. Besides that, the food here is truly something else and I think Marlo's is one of, if not the, best restaurants in Crescent City. I usually stick with either the Gyro or the Big Fat Greek Burger and get either fries or onion rings on the side. Their gyro meat is top-notch--very juicy and brimming with flavor--the pitas are always soft & warm, and I LOVE their tzatziki. If I'm feeling a little adventurous, I'll even get a cannoli or slice of tiramisu for dessert. Also, their ranch is definitely made in-house and it's delicious. Love Marlo's and I'm happy they're doing their best to keep themselves and their customers safe during these unprecedented times. read more

I'm not sure how to express how happy I am that we came across this place. We came to Crescent City for a short family get away. After spending ALL day in the car we rolled into town around 7:30 not realizing that most places close around 8. At 7:45 we found Marlo's and asked if we could place an order to go for 7 of us. Knowing that it's 15 min til they close we were hoping to just be able to get a to go order. My SO went in and asked and they said, "We're still open. Come in and relax." We were so thankful! While we were there another large party came in (well after closing time) and they were welcomed as well. In addition to their kindness their food was also delicious! We had 3 orders of the shrimp scampi, surf and turf kabobs, lasagna, chicken carbonara, the shrimp fettuccine, tiramisu, cheesecake and cannoli. Salad crisp and fresh! Bread was SOOOO good!! Everything was delicious. We've had a lot of great Italian food and this rates high on the list. Highly recommend if you're in the area!! read more

Having traveled for four hours we were hungry and knew Greek/Italian would be an excellent choice. We were sadly mistaken in choosing Marlo's. The falafel was fried so hard they crumbled into powder. The pita was good, but the falafels were swimming in a very tangy tzaziki that was too tart for me to eat. The French fries were good. My dining companion chose lasagna. It was delivered cold. She requested it to be heated, they brought a whole new one. Only to discover it was inedible - it was a mushy mess. The salad and Greek dressing were tasty. Needless to say, we left hungry too. So my wife and I had a good experience with Marlo's back in April, this trip really took that away. In fact I'm not quite sure why I'm giving a two (2). The kids meals actually trumped ours (So awesome if you want grilled cheese). I ordered the pesto pasta and my wife ordered the Alfredo (garlic cream). Both meals were over cooked. The pasta had probably been boiled for at least fifteen minutes. The tortellini was super mushy and falling apart. Pretty nasty actually and my wife's Alfredo was bland. the waitress noticed I had not eaten much and asked if there was an issue. I told her about the overcooked meal. She took my plate and said she was going back to the chef. After about five minutes she shows back up and delivers a bill. So no one fixed the issue, she took my food without asking and then deliver a bill at full price. We come to CC about five times a year and always try to find our new places to eat. Awesome food, such a great quality! So, go for pasta because it is incredible!! And the lasagna is finger licking good!!! If have a chance to to try it you should do it because it's so good. This pasta is as good as it was in Italy! So try it. Yet, the Greek salad is not "real" Greek salad though and is done in American way. Although it didn't ruined our experience as they took it out of our order when we said it wasn't what we it expected it to be. Overall great experience. Highly recommend it! read more

Italian and Greek? Mama Mia!! At Marlo's you get hearty down home cooking with generous portions. The restaurant decor is a little dated, but kept up nicely. It has large windows with wine bottles and dried flowers in the windows for spots of color. The menu is extensive and we had a hard time deciding what to order. One of each please? It's hard when you have menu options from two favorite cuisines. For starters, the freshly made house bread was delicious. We brought our own wine and had it for a $10 corkage fee, but they have a great wine list. We tried something different for an appetizer-a unique Chef creation-crispy fries topped with with tzatziki, feta, tomato and cucumber and gyro meat (lamb and beef). Wow! This heaping platter could easily serve 4 or 5 for an appetizer. Go easy as the fries are addicting and you find yourself too full for an entree (preaching to myself)! My man got the combo kebab platter with rice pilaf. The steak kebab was so delicious-so glad we share. I enjoyed the penne pasta (a newer menu item with broccoli, chicken, and tomato. We were too stuffed to try dessert and had to take some of the meal to go. Definitely a good find. Service was really pleasant. Prices were quite reasonable. Eh. I really want to like this place but it's just nothing to write home about. I was really excited when they opened up because there's just not much in the area outside of Asian or Mexican food. Maybe their Italian food is better but I've always ordered from the Greek menu and it's been underwhelming almost every time. I really only ended up here again because my in-laws picked the restaurant tonight. I used to get the Greek fries, which were much better when Marlo's first opened at their old location and they were using seasoned, battered fries. I tried them again tonight and they've switched to boring, flavorless steak fries as the base. They also cut back on the cucumber and red onions, which were much more plentiful in early iterations of the dish. The gyro meat, which should have been the star, was the biggest disappointment. The flavor was there but it was so dried out and unappetizing. I was tempted to send it back but we had somewhere else to be so I had to settle. My family seemed to like their dishes from the Italian menu well enough, though, which is largely why I gave the third star. I've given this place several chances but unfortunately they always seem to disappoint. I wish them luck and success because we need diversity in our area but I can't say I'd go out of my way to eat here again. read more

We were excited to try an alternative to Seaquake. Sadly our expectations were dashed. The house salad left a lot to be desired but still had hopes for the gyro and kebab plate. We ordered rice with it. The pita, meat and tzatziki were all right but the rice not so much. The kebab plate was also just average. When asked where the tiramisu came from (thinking it was homemade), we were told Sysco (based in Sacramento) made it. Maybe expectations were too high based off other reviews. We're going back to Seaquake. read more
