The food was pretty good! There's not many options on the area. This restaurant also has a very small casino next to it and we killed time playing until the restaurant opened at 5:00. The staff was nice and the food was good! We will come back again when we are in town.

Salad bar is small but at least has everything you need. And it's included in the price of your meal.

Both really good and made in their stone oven. We also got the calmari for appetizers. Calamari cooked perfectly, not rubbery. Light batter, crispy, and seasoned really well that gave it great flavor. Others in the group ordered a clam chowder bread bowl, chicken Parmesan, fish & chips and shrimp & chips. The overall consensus was good. Casual atmosphere and perfect location. It's at the boardwalk near an arcade. During the day, there's also ice cream and coffee nearby. Couldn't get any pictures.

We came down to Brookings to take care of some business and decided to stop in for lunch and a drink afterwards. We weren't especially hungry so we ordered our usual favorites (clam chowder for me and steamer clams for the fellow) that combo usually helps us decide whether or not we want to return, without breaking the bank on a new spot. Our server was delightful, she was kind and attentive without being overbearing. Our order took a little longer than expected for what we ordered but we didn't mind, we had some nice blackberry cider they had on tap to tide us over. I was a little disappointed when our meals came out and I didn't get a slice of bread with my bowl of clam chowder like the fellow did with his steamers, but we were able to buy a half batard for $5 and that was perfect for us to split. It came out warm with a side of butter and complimented the chowder much nicer than the oyster crackers they originally brought out would have. In fact I recommend getting the bread if you order the chowder, it almost stole the show. The chowder was delicious, could've been warmer but still very tasty, the potatoes were cut super thin, and the clams were plump and tender and tasted fresh, they did add bacon but not in overwhelming amounts, and I thought it was spiced perfectly. I only added a few shakes of red pepper flakes to finish it. The fellow thought his steamer clams/mussels were marvelous, with a very flavorful broth, and he loved the fact that he was allowed to mix them. They made a good first impression on us, we will definitely be returning for dinner and ordering a couple of pizzas and perhaps a salad as well. Who knows, they may prove to be one of our new favorite spots.

Similarly, I considered the best fries to come from Roxy Ann Bowling Alley in Medford. In the years since the two have closed, I have searched up and down Oregon for a new best, over 20 restaurants' onion rings, similarly many for fries. This place is my new favorite for both, as, though they are not to the same standard of the other two now shutdown places, they are on the cusp of perfection. The taste is perfect, with only minor discrepancies in the crispiness of their breading (in my opinion the fries could be slightly crispier, and the onion rings slightly softer), though they are still well above most. I wish them and their staff the best in their lives. Oh also they were pretty quick with our food, and they're a really solid price. Burger was good too. Will probably come back here in the future when I visit Brookings

I don't often order anything other than ice water with lemon, but this place has my NEW Favorite thing! The Train Master's Mule $9. Tito's vodka, ginger beer, soda water, freshly little mint with a wedge of lime. It's not listed, but it also had muttled raspberries, strawberry, a few blueberries and it was a welcome surprise. A unique and flavorful beverage. I ordered more than one :D Excellent service, pleasantly attentive, but not hovering. A casual local spot with freshly prepared eats and with a mixologist with skillz. Their daily special was also a hit! A grilled chicken, bbq ranch burger with cheese, bacon, onion rings and more. I will definitely come again when in area *thumbs up*

The cafe is located directly next to the Motel of Trees. Upon entering the Blue Ox Cafe, we were warmly greeted by a welcoming and friendly server (she was our server on the next night as well!). The decor is unique and inviting. We loved the beautiful tree slab tables and the hand painted sea creature mural! We sat next to a cuddly life size stuffed animal in the form of a bear! On our first night at the restaurant, I had ordered a decadent and comforting grilled cheese sandwich with french fries. Both were delicious! The fries were cooked to perfection! Those fries were the best I have ever tasted! On the second night, we had breakfast for dinner, as they currently serve breakfast all day beginning at 11am. I had a delicious and filling veggie omelet, crispy hash browns, and a light and fluffy buttermilk biscuit! I wish we could have taken the biscuits to go, but I'm not sure how they would have fared during our road trip home! Lastly, we shared blackberry cobbler for dessert! I'm normally a chocolate desserts kind of gal but I was so impressed by this cobbler! It was so yummy and decadent!
