This review is for the cabins, not the restaurant. I booked three nights in this place for my birthday, I booked Cabin 19 which is their largest cabin. Please save yourself $300 a night, heartache, and trauma. I've never seen anything like it. There was garbage surrounding the entire cabin, half of the lights didn't work, there's a gas oven in the kitchen, yet no kitchen towels nor oven mitts. No soap in the kitchen whatsoever, so you can't wash your hands or dishes. Cabins 17 and 18 are literally falling down it was so disturbing. There is no way to enjoy the outdoors between the cabins falling down and the garbage. The bed was comfortable, the towels in the bathroom were plush, and the one night we needed the night manager she was kind and responsive. That's the extent of the positives. The pictures on their website make it look rustic and charming, this was an entirely disappointing and disturbing experience. read more

Came here to eat after a trip to Trees of Mystery on the last day of June and the sign outside has Bigfoot and says "A Good Place To Eat". The food was delicious. I would give it five stars if it looked better. read more

The people were so nice and the service was great. Food was good too. Not exactly what you'd expect inside of a convenient store next to a gas station but there's not a ton on the Highway as you're traveling in that area so I absolutely appreciate what they're offering. The menu had a lot to offer considering. The are was split into two areas. The convenient store area was half of the store and behind that was the restaurant area. They had some items for sale that represented the area. Stickers, giant flasks, and items representing the area. It was a cute store, not a gross run down liquor store. We spent two nights in cabin number 10. The cabin was clean when we arrived. The bed needed replacing about 10 years ago or more. The shower in the bathroom was so bad that I think a drip coffee pot water comes out faster. It was a total joke as far as amenities go. There isn't much around there. They have a little restaurant that they own. It closes at 5:45 PM. They also have a nonrefundable deposit requirement. I would suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Not much in the area, friendly staff. You order and then go sit down and they bring it. Can get drinks at the storefront part to have at the table. Typical burger/fry kind of joint. Take out might be nicer so you can go eat in the forest. Wouldn't let us order a BLT (??) or salad because they were short on lettuce that day, so a bit bummed we could get our first choices on the menu. They were hardly busy so you think they could've thrown together a BLT. But overall the burgers were a decent meal. read more

We stayed at the cabin and also had breakfast here. Cabin: The cabin was very bare bones, but suited our needs. We're basically only in our room to sleep and shower, so it wasn't a huge deal to us. Supposedly they were recently renovated? It was equipped with a microwave, coffee maker and a fridge. Breakfast: - Buttermilk biscuit sandwich ($4.95): A warm, flaky biscuit with a nicely fried sausage, cheese and egg. A little on the small side. - Half order of biscuits with sausage gravy ($5): This never looks that appetizing, and this order wasn't the exception. However, looks can be deceiving. The gravy was very flavorful and hearty. On the rich side, a half order was perfect (two halves of a biscuit). - Pastrami and Swiss on sourdough ($9.75): No Dutch crunch available at the time, but they let us order this first thing in the morning so we could take it on our hike with us. Although there wasn't much meat (extra meat option $4) there were tons of condiments, which made it a pretty substantial sando. We split it between the two of us and it was perfect. To go orders only during COVID. You can order at the window, and there are some benches on the side available for outdoor seating. read more

As the only restaurant in town available during off hours, definitely recommend. Beyond that, the pizza was actually quite good! We took leftovers that lasted us through lunch the next day and there was exactly zero complaints. The shopkeepers are extremely friendly, and honestly funny considering we had to wait for a credit card to connect. We joked about the sound of a router! I'm sure that's not a permanent thing though, and even if it was...who cares! Friendly people, delicious food, located inside of a shop where you can purchase snacks and drinks for the rest of your ride! It was lovely. I for sure prefer it over the log cabin. read more

With the options for food very limited in the area save some trouble from going toward the Casino as it's a dead spot without much and come here to this quaint little store/food spot we enjoyed the food very much as others did. I drive up north a few times a year and passing by Woodland Villas I noticed that the exterior had been updated very nicely. It made me want to stop for lunch on my last trip. I was glad I did! We enjoyed the fish and chips and chicken fried steak sandwich. The homemade tartar sauce was excellent. The potato tots were cooked perfectly. The refrigerator case was well-stocked with a good selection of beers and soft drinks. 5-stars for the food. 5-stars for the staff. 5-stars for the prices. 5-stars for a well-curated selection of items on the menu. 4-stars for outdoor dining only. Next time I'm rolling up the Redwood Highway 101, I'll be stopping there for sure. read more

This is a great little market out in the middle of nowhere in the redwoods (just south of mystery trees) but what makes it really stand out is the food they are preparing in back. There is a small cafe in the back of this little convenience store that makes some really good food. Nothing fancy, clean and simple, and really good burgers that are made to order with pretty much every combination you can imagine (grab a sheet and a marker at the counter circle what you want and put your name on it) and then there are the pizzas that often times you have people waiting for, one visit they were making a dozen before us! They are that good. They also sell draft tap (local crafts) beers - half a dozen or so taps going the last time through. Nothing like a frosty cold beer and a great burger to make your afternoon go a little better. This little market/cafe is definitely worth a visit. Be sure to grab a bite to eat in back! We first ate here in 2012 for both breakfast and for dinner. Most recently we repeated what we did in 2012. Sharon, the owner gave us a warm welcome when it occurred to her we were repeat customers from 2012. The menus have been tweaked. Food still cooked wonderfully by Willy. Make sure you order the Belgian waffle. It used to be part of the Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Little Bear breakfast offerings. Now it's a stand alone item. At dinner time, the six of us shared two large pizzas. Sharon's cole slaw is house made and very tangy. If you have room, there are two offerings - banana chocolate chip with walnuts bread pudding or blackberry cobbler. My fave is the bread pudding. Huge. Enough for two. Best. Bacon. Ever. Seriously, breakfast is amazing here, their ham is juicy, their sausage is flavorful with out being too spiced, and they have the best bacon ever. The only lacking thing is their home fries. They are just plain, which make them taste just like mini steak fries. Not bad, but pales in comparison to the amazing meats they serve. Their bisquit is fluffy and their Sourdough for the 'Eggs in a basket' is wonderful. While the service is not excellent, it's just fine, friendly, but there is only one chef and one guy tending the store. It's on par with what you would expect in a small diner run by just the chef. You will ha e to help you self, and you should because the food is too good to pass up. read more

We were impressed by our stop at the Woodland Villa Market, just a few miles north of the Klamath bridge on 101. Rural country stores in these parts tend to have a rustic, disheveled appearance - but not this store. Aisles were immaculate, all items were nicely organized, obviously a well-run establishment. There's a small restaurant area in the back of the market. It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner, which made it just the right time for...dessert! We all had the blackberry cobbler ala-mode ($7.50). Delicious: warm, flaky crust, tasty and not-too-tart filling. Definitely worth a trip if you're in the area. Not sure what the other reviews saw in this place. The cabin was clean. The good parts end there. The cabin was super small, big enough for a bed, small bath, futon (not needed) and kitchenette. Too small for more than a couple. If you're a family that needs a little room, move on. In a Friday night, we were the only ones on site after 6pm. This is near the road and 24 hr gas pumps. Felt odd to be the only ones on the property. This 15x20 ft cabin was $160 night! Half of that wd have more appropriate. Keep looking for another option. read more

We had cabin 12. Upon arriving we went into the cabin which was bigger than we expected. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. We didn't realize that everything closed up by 7pm. It was a Sunday though so we managed to find a place to eat at a little local bar. The location is great for just getting away. The honest truth is that I thought it was paid for, but I'm looking at the receipt right now and it's not on here. I brought it to the register guy's attention when I grabbed it, but didn't set it on the counter - we were only getting one piece of the flat, teriyaki jerky, and a soda. It was a neat little store! We had stopped for gas next door but the inside of the gas station was more like a hardware store than a convenience market, so we headed here for a beverage and snack. I constantly need things to snack on. It's difficult for me to plan ahead on road trips and pack snacks because I prefer waiting until I start craving something, and then finding it to satisfy my craving. In this moment, I wanted beef jerky. There were all sorts of food items and snacks and even hot meals available here. It was clean and the register guy was very friendly. Stopped for lunch after trees of mystery and we were pleasantly surprised. Staff was friendly and masked, thank you. My partner had a chicken fried steak sandwich he loved. The bun was particularly good. I had a club sandwich I really enjoyed. The bread could have been a bit more toasted but a large solid sandwich anyway. Jojo fries and homemade ranch was on point too. We both also sampled the soup. I had split pea, a little thin but really bland. My partner had clam chowder, full of claims but really lacking seasoning. Tasted of clams and cream only. Their ribeye sandwich was absolutely the best steak sandwich I've ever had. Mine was so full that the bun split, and each ingredient was tender, rich, and flavorful on its own. Food here is surprisingly good! They have a limited menu, but it was executed well. We ordered a cheese pizza for the kids. Only the large was available, unfortunately. But at least they were able to eat their favorite food for 3 straight meals. My husband ordered the veggie burger and we shared that as well as smoked salmon (yum) and crackers from the market. We weren't expecting much, but the pizza is one of the better pizzas we've had. Crust was perfect and it was obviously cooked in a real pizza oven or at least something that could cook pizza at a high enough temperature. After trying one bite, we wished we had ordered half of it vegetarian for our own dinner. Veggie burger was a standard Garden burger patty, but the fixings were great and they obviously source the bread locally. Maybe they even bake it considering how good the pizza crust was. I didn't stay at the cabins, but they looked very clean and cool. The deli is to die for - I had a burger while my brother had the chesseburger. Amazing. Hand made patty, cooked just exactly as ordered (rare, medium rare), lettuce & tomato very fresh and bun was toasted perfectly. They also told us to pick whatever we wanted out of the store and trusted us to tell them accurately when we paid, after the meal. Very clean, staff was really nice. The only car parked outside had three bumper stickers: "USMC," "Semper Fi," and "Give War a Chance." The third one, especially, was enough to make me Yelp other nearby restaurants. But compañera wanted to try an American motel, so we stayed. And we were not disappointed. First, the cast of characters, numbering two: Cindy is a helpful, honest, warm chef/cashier, and Chris is an LA-born, Knicks-supporting, tatted-up, gregarious-as-hell waiter/cashier. I imagine both of them have many more roles than the ones I've mentioned. Here are the various things Chris helped out with: helping me choose a six pack of local brew; letting me borrow his opener to drink my beers with dinner; talking about Lebron's departure from Cleveland with me; recommending and serving a delicious 16 inch half pepperoni half no meat veggie pizza, which we couldn't finish; and coming over to the table at one point to ask me has anyone ever told you--and then I cut him off--if I look like Drake--and then he cut me off--like Drake hahaha yeah man you do!!!; and then telling me how he was thinking of just coming over to the table doing the Hotline Bling Drake dance, which of course he then ended up showing us (10/10). The rooms were very clean, and the memory foam mattress room was exactly what we needed! The cafe and market had great prices, and it made staying there easy. We stayed for 3 nights with a family of 4 and it was a perfect fit. Our cabin was plenty big for us, and it was up a bit up from the road so it was very quiet. We didn't hang around too much at the cabin as there isn't much to see/do on site. The cabins are simple and complete for standard needs. We did eat at the restaurant/store for dinner, which has a standard mix of diner food and pizza. The pizza was the best! Also they had a nice variety of local beers on tap. Guests should understand how remote this area of California so don't expect to be able to walk or even drive 10 min. to a fully stocked grocery store. If you plan to eat/cook in the cabin then do your shopping before you arrive. read more
