I liked this location. It is convenient to my work and home. My wife had the burger lettuce wrap and I had the Tavern burger with Cheddar cheese. They came out fast and fresh. I had ordered the parmesan truffle fries as a side to my burger which they did not initially send out. When I alerted my waitress she handled it immediately and they sent out a whole fresh new order of the truffle fries. That is a well trained staff and good service. I have been going to Marlow's for many years, ever since they opened. Typically I am very pleased with both the food and service. Well, today was a real disappointment. I order the glazed salmon from their whiskey & BBQ menu. They didn't include the corn muffins that were part of the dish, I had to ask for it. The green been casserole was overly salty and the worse part was - the salmon smelled and tasted very fishy, I had to send it back. It took so long to get a new one and when I finally did, they didn't put on the Jack Daniel glaze that's supposed to come with it. Once again, I had to ask for it on the side. My veggies were already cold, so just decided to pack it up and take it home, as my friend had already finished his meal. Eating out is suppose to be relaxing and fun, it's not when you are sitting watching your friend eat while you wait for your food to be remade. The food at Marlow's is higher priced tavern food, so I expect better. Sadly, they didn't consider these issues and offer to buy me a drink or dessert, or take a % off the entree. I didn't ask, cause I shouldn't have to. Some sorta compensation should have been proactively offered if they really value their customers dinning experience. Since Covid I have gone 4 times and each time there is some kinda issue - poorly made drink, rude bartender or issues with food. I get they may be dealing with a new staff or other things due to Covid, but when it's issues 4 times in a row - I have to consider if I'll take a chance at returning again. read more

Stopped here on Friday night while in town and loved it so much I came back on Saturday with friends! The black and blue burger and fries were delicious on Friday and the Japanese beef burger and jalapeño grits on Saturday blew me away! All perfectly cooked and definitely worth checking out! The atmosphere is great for a date, time with friends, or even a night alone at the bar. Great service AND I was most impressed that the bartender on Friday (Zach) not only introduced himself but also called me and everyone else st the bar by name all evening. I've enjoyed Marlow's I am disappointed with the menu changes and modified menu staples. I always order the steak salad. The new menu offers little tiny steak strips vs the larger portions. Menu change in this instance means you are paying higher for less. They always have a nice beer selection. The kettle chips are yummy. However I was disappointed to find that there was no policy or consideration for veterans or active military at this location. I was having dinner with both. The server asked the manager and they gave 5% off the meal of the active and veteran. The tax on the check was more. Maybe it's just me but I'm scratching my head... Visited this past Saturday around 4 pm as a party of 2. Not really crowded and seemed to have a fair amount of wait staff. Started off bad with the hostess. Without a doubt, one of the rudest hostesses we've ever experienced. Seated us on the patio, as requested and we saw a couple of waiters, with a few occupied tables. We sat there talking, looking at menus, and waiting for someone to come to the table for 10 minutes. Nobody even showed up to tell us that they would be right with us. Obviously, they didn't require our money so we walked out. Nobody so much as glanced at us the entire time we were there. With so many other decent eating establishments in the immediate vicinity, we had no problem finding a wait staff that would actually wait on us at the very next stop (Pepe's Mexican). We made our first visit to Marlow's Tavern in Duluth after seeing a story on CBS46 Atlanta's "Atlanta Eats." Jordan was our server and he was great! He asked if it was our first visit and explained the menu and specials. I ordered the fish tacos and my husband ordered the brisket special. While we waited, we were surprised when one of the managers came over with a complimentary appetizer because Jordan told her it was our first time at Marlow's! The food was tasty, filling and both meals had ample portions. Jordan was attentive and the other manager checked on us as we finished our meal. We have dined here twice over the past year. We like the hamburgers a lot. Of course, this is a chain so they are of about the same quality. This is a particularly busy store because it is very near Infinity Center and is very busy during lunch hour. The food is good and the service fairly quick. The ambience could be noisy depending where you sit. A booth is recommended if one want to converse during meals. During my years of living in Duluth, I had handful of favorite spots to go to. But whenever I didn't want to take chances dining with group of friends with different preferences or taking someone out whose food preferences I didn't know or vegetarians, there was only one place I could reliably go and have consistent experience. And that is Marlowe's tavern Over the years they have quickly opened so many locations in and around Atlanta and that itself is a monument for their success. And I have tried several of their locations as well and it amazes me that food experience is so consistent at all locations. Especially the Sugarloaf location, which was special to me because of some great memories with my friends there and even some first dates. Till this day, even after I have moved to brookhaen and not so frequent to this location, I can go there and chances are one of the staffs will recognize me for a regular customer I used to be. This is significant because that also means they retain their waiters longer - must be not a bad place to work at. Among waiters, one of the best there is Chris, who walks up to my table for a quick chat every time, even if I am not seated in his side. Other waiters are cool too, You can tell at Marlowe's they take customer service very seriously. Their food is no slouch either.They have a standard menu, that probably has seen some minimal changes over the years and then they have a monthly specials menu, celebrating something every month. They also have a bar and I like their cocktails. Nothing breathtaking but never had a drink I didn't like. They have lunch, dinner and brunch service(Only on sundays). For brunch they used to have buffet style food for just $14 and that was worth every penny and more than that. With their tasty unlimited shrimp & grits, excellent salads and desserts. Unfortunately they discontinued it for a ala carte brunch menu. This helps them to standardize food selection in all of their location, they explained. And their new brunch is just as good(in taste) but not better(for money). I love their chicken panini and it's my favorite in their menu. I usually order it with Okra Fries or French fries or Jalapeno Grits or Chickpea fries as a side. Pick any of those four sides, you won't be disappointed. Also my favorite appeatizer is asparagus fries. Try it, even if you didn't like asparagus you will love this. Thank you. Their burger is good too. They used to have 'Everything but kitchen sink' burger but unfortunately they discontinued that. For vegetarians they have black bean burger and you can ask to not include chicken & bacon to Chicken panini and they will happily subsitute with mushrooms. One of my vegetarian friend has been doing it for ages and he wouldn't order anything else(even black bean burger), it's that good. And food is quite cheap for how big the plate usually is. Above all, they are usually open until 2 am! So whenever we want to eat late in the night or coming back from a roadtrip late, I don't even have to think twice to suggest this place. I love Marlow's. It's a little tricky to find because you can't really see it or even a sign for it from Sugarloaf, but it's worth finding. There are a few pubs in this area, but Marlow's gets a lot of cred for being in Duluth and not crawling with families. For whatever reason, people don't seem to bring their kids here, and that makes it a lot more enjoyable for adults. They also have an incredibly professional staff. While similar establishments in the area tend to be hit or miss mostly staffed with kids trying to earn extra pocket money, the crew at Marlow's is friendly and professional and a lot more like what you would find intown. For example, I am on the Marlow's email list and went to get my free birthday dessert, but I didn't have the actual email coupon on my phone. Our server was awesome about the whole thing and took the birthday $10 off my check without making any kind of scene about it. That's good service. I can't comment too much on the menu items, because I almost always get the same thing: shrimp and grits. The shimp and grits plate is amazing. You get a healthy amount of shrimp in a delicious sauce and a grits cake thing....I'm not sure what you call it, but it's a big cake made of grits. The menu is fairly small, but a few items seem to rotate in and out, so they get some diversity that way. All of the items seem to be high quality as all of my dining companions were satisfied with their meals as well. Marlow's tends to skew slightly more upscale than similar nearby places. For example, you will pay a few bucks more for your dinner at Marlow's than you would at Taco Mac, but the quality you get in return makes it more than worth it. You wouldn't need to come here if you just wanted typical decent, but not great bar food. If you want something better, something that you would expect at an actual real restaurant or high quality pub like Atkins Park, Marlow's fits the bill. For a suburb known for "me too" chain restaurants and ethnic food, we are extremely lucky to have a place like Marlow's where you can get high quality continental cuisine late at night and at decent prices. The is definitely the best bar I've been to in Duluth. The food itself makes it my new preference for Duluth dining in general, but this particular Marlow's Tavern earned 5 stars because of its service. I had the pleasure of being waited on by Jordanne (forgive me if I misspelled her name). She is typically a bartender here, and judging by her efficiency and personality she is probably a great one! She was really helpful with the menu. I've only been to Marlow's Downtown Atlanta location once years ago, so I needed a refresher. Her recommendations are so concise and enthusiastic you almost have to order. I was reluctant to try to chicken tortilla soup, but her description made it sound awesome! She was spot with it's description too. The Grilled Salmon was prepared perfectly and tasted great. The cous cous is a little filling though so watch out. The burger was just ok. In all honestly, I probably wouldn't recommend it because its pretty average compared to what else they offer on the menu. Oh, and if you are looking for a light summer cocktail go with the White Tommy's Sangria. It's refreshing and the fruit is actually edible lol. I say this only because I've had less favorable experiences elsewhere. Looking forward to returning. Must try so many other choices...immediately lol. read more

Our party of 7 went late afternoon, around 4pm, before the evening rush. It was not busy. From the beginning we were an inconvenience to the waitstaff. Our food took a very long time and no one updated our table. Once it arrived, the food quality was good but the lack of service took away from the experience.
