Went to an evening banquet event there recently. The food was reminiscent of a middle-of-the-road hotel. The chicken breast was so tough it was inedible. Veggies drowned in too much sauce. The salad was fine, but the mediocre dressing should have been served on the side. The cheesecake dessert was tasted like the institutionalized, cafeteria type. The best part of the meal was the bread. The service was adequate but nothing exceptional. The room next door had an employee awards event going on. I heard every hand clap in their meeting room more clearly than our presenter's voice. I would not recommend this place. read more

Attended an event in the large center room on the third floor. Looked professional, view was great, food was decent. They had sliders (which were decent), fruit, and hors d'oeuvres that were a hit or a miss. Some were soggy, others were crisp and delicious. Was invited to the bar-only area at the end of the hall. Drinks were good, they had a very extensive list of available liquor/wine, but bartender had poor service. Rarely came around to our group. Would just be missing for some time. read more

Set on the third floor of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce building, the 1818 Club is a gathering place for business professionals. The Club requires a membership. Members may bring guests to the Club at any time provided the guest is accompanied by the host member. Business casual or coat and tie are the appropriate and preferred attire. I was invited to a business lunch hosted by one of the members. I was greeted upon arrival and directed to our private room. The club is elegant and welcoming. Frankie's The Steakhouse is located on the same floor and is the Club's catering partner, meaning all the food and drinks come from Frankie's. During our meeting, I ordered a caesar salad $12 and added salmon ~$10. The salad and salmon were decent and the portions were generous, especially for lunch. They also served complimentary bread as a starter. Service was a little off, which surprised me considering this is a prestigious club. Although our server was nice, she made some errors and was slow to bring us dessert. We were offered a chocolate cake to go and instead of packaging slices separately for each of us to take home, we were presented a huge piece of cake packed in one to-go container. We had to request single boxes and slice the cake ourselves. This to me was very odd as I have not seen anything like this happen at a restaurant before. Fortunately, the cake saved them. It was incredible. It was rich and moist. One of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had! Monthly membership dues are $125 per month and there is a $60 quarterly food and beverage minimum. Privileges are for the member and their immediate family. I don't see myself getting a membership at the Club. However, I would return if invited again. read more

I ate here for a business lunch and I was not disappointed. I don't understand why a membership is required to dine in this establishment, but, I enjoyed the atmosphere and food nonetheless. I had the seared ahi tuna salad and the portion was quite large and the salad itself was delicious. The other members of my party had dishes that looked quite delightful as well. This was my first time dining here, but I hope it won't be the last. The service was good and the ambiance was relaxing too. The only recommendation to the restaurant that I have is to improve the coffee. I had a coffee following my meal and it was lackluster. It was very weak and not a good quality coffee, but the other items were very satisfying. read more

The 1818 Club is located in the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce building and requires a membership (cost is $95/month per household). The club's name is derived from the year Gwinnett County was founded, and is also located near Infinite Energy Center. I came up here for a business lunch meeting. We got off the elevator and were standing right in front of a greeting desk. They escorted us in to a table in the back corner. You'll notice this place is very fancy looking, with white linen clothes tables. There is a variety of seating options, from comfy booths to standard tables, and a bar top area. They offer formal and private dining options. All the tables have water glasses on them, turned upside down, along with smaller plate ware for appetizers. That gives off the vibe this place is upscale. Expect to spend about $10-$20 per person for lunch. I glanced over the menu, and noticed they had some decent options for lunch, none of which would make me look like a pig in a trough. I opted for the grilled chicken quesadilla. They brought bread to the table for us too. Our server did a great job checking in on us and not letting the drinks get below halfway full. My meal came fairly fast. It was 4 large quesadillas with side of pico, sour cream and lettuce. The pico was very fresh, and you could tell they made it in-house. Some of the better pico I've had in awhile. The quesadillas were perfect! I must say that I was fairly impressed by the taste of them. I ate them all! They were perfectly grilled too and the bacon added a great flavor. Lunch meetings are unique, in the fact that I'm not as stringent on my critiquing. I say this because the only thing I honestly care about is fast service, food I can comfortably put down fast and the music not loud. This visit hit all of that, and I don't even recall music. I'd highly recommend this place for lunch meetings, and will be back. read more

Members only. And their guests. While not a throw back to the '80s, the 1818 Club has a great atmospheric presence in Gwinnett and quite a few influencers of Gwinnett conduct and dine for business. Named for the year the County was formed in 1818, it is a little bit of history in itself. The Place - seating is formal. White tablecloths and impeccable service. Comfortable but business formal. Cell phones should be off and pad folio and notebooks need to be off the table. There have been some relaxed rulings I have noticed recently but for good practice, perfect your verbal networking and write notes later. The Food - delicious. One of the favorites is the chicken salad, it has remained on the menu and still garners many orders. I have never had a bad meal. The ingredients are fresh and food is prepared respectful of dietary needs. Lobster bisque is heavenly and highly recommended. Served with sherry, rich flavor, and plenty of lobster meat and it ends up being perfect on a cold day. Bread basket on the table - go for the buttered crackers. They are divine. The drawback of the 1818 up until now was its member only status. However, in early 2017 it will switch to Frankie's Steakhouse and remain members only at lunch. Dinner will be open to the public. Will update once this change occurs but for now go with another member and enjoy a good, business solid lunch. read more

Had a lunch-in for my job here and did not know what expect. The restaurant is on the third floor at the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce building. When you first get off of the elevator it doesn't seem like much, but once you go into one of the reserves rooms it's a different story. The decor is subtle and great for meetings or functions. As for the food......delicious!!! We had a buffet style lunch where they served salad, asparagus, baked potato wedges, lasagna, chicken Marsala, and fruit. We had two deserts: tiramisu and a small parfait cup. All was delicious and fresh. I was disappointed that we weren't offered sweet tea or a hot beverage. All in all I would come again if invited lol. read more

My mom took us here for lunch recently and it was delicious! The service was top notch and the restaurant was very clean and inviting. The food choices were great and we loved the bread basket they brought out. I ordered the scallops, which were amazing and my husband ordered the seafood pasta. He loved it! The sauce was very creamy and there was enough to make it tasty. Not like those other chintzy places that give you so little. We hope to be invited back very soon....hint, hint.... :) read more

While social clubs are a little expensive by nature, The 1818 Club is actually pretty reasonable. If you can handle the small initiation fee and about $80/mo, the food and service are the best in Gwinnett. When you walk it you are greeted by name and treated like a rockstar. Ali is there to treat you like it is his home and you're a guest. He's worth the trip by himself. The whole staff is great and I love to meet people there for business. First up: I'm not a member. I've been here 5 or 6 times as a guest when someone wanted to impress me enough to get me to buy something from them or to schmooze me into believing that I should be happy they were including me in their exclusive little circle and should JUMP at the chance to include them in one of my deals. In spite of having to deflect devious platitudes and bon mots while adroitly plying my food with knife and fork, I found that the food here is quite good. My favorites are the London Broil, the Roasted Pepper Soup, the Grouper Filet, and the Chicken Salad Pita plate. I'm always going to take someone up on a free meal offer but I refuse to be their post-prandial nut. read more

Had dinner as a guest recently and the atmosphere is as expected for a traditional American style club house restaurant in GA. It is on the 3rd floor and has many private areas for functions / business dinners. The lighted fireplaces, homelike bookcase decor, marble, floral wallpaper, gilded frames of birds and brass accents all add to the warm soothing quiet old school type of ambiance. The food is as expected. Traditional with some modern additions but pretty safe middle of the road fare. I personally thought the salad had too much dressing but overall nicely presented. The mashed potatoes were smooth but nothing exciting to the palate. Like I said earlier, it's all traditional American fare without much pizazz but for those who like that reassuring comfort, it will hit the spot for them.
