I walked in 8:50pm and they took my order for a burrito and quesadillas! Very welcoming! Tasty food!

I live very close to this place and finally gave it a try. I was really disappointed when I walked in and saw American items on the menu like French fries... ummmm... okay. I have been on the hunt for the best tacos of the western suburbs and this my friends is not the place. Ordered steak tacos and the meat was okay, the tortillas fell apart, but here is my biggest issue, they used kinda soggy romaine lettuce. I don't know if they think they are trying to appeal to health conscious Taco eaters but when did you ever hear of fast tacos with romaine lettuce instead of classic chopped ice burg? I don't know the whole thing threw me off and i just couldn't enjoy the consistency of the taco. Maybe this isn't an issue for you, for me it was, and I won't be returning, far better options right down the street. read more

This place is fantastic! Great little Mom and Pops restaurant with amazing customer service. The man behind the counter, I'm assuming the husband, does not speak a lot of English but he does try as best he can. The woman however does speak English much better, but honestly, why make it complicated. The food is fantastic and the Cemitas are my favorite. I live in Chicago where we have a lot of authentic Taqueria's. We went here because we are new in town and saw the many 5 star reviews! This is a little hole in the wall kinda place but it was DELICIOUS. Very similar to a Cilantro in terms of menu offered, but they don't have as good of combos offered. The food was delicious, we got tacos and quesadillas. Their salsa both green and red is very thick so it's not like the typical very thin salsa, so that wasn't the best but we will be back for sure!!!!!!!! read more

Stopped by for some breakfast. Ended up getting the Chicken Mole Enchiladas. They were some of the best I've had. My buddy got a burrito and he said the same. The owner was very nice, told us how he cooked everything fresh for us and you could taste it. Fantastic hidden gem here! read more

I eat a lot of Mexican food in the western suburbs. I make a point to try a new taqueria every week. On a recent trip to my current favorite spot Los Burritos Tapatios, I needed another option. I had enjoyed the devils lettuce on the way to lunch and when I pulled up to los b's the place was full of police on lunch break. I was way too medicated to deal with that and needed some Mexican food, quick and close. This is when I discovered Marmellys. Most of the taquerias I visit are average at best and do a lot of the menu items the same, they always lack flavor and exciting taste. Marmelly is not one of these places, Marmelly is special. Every time I've been there it's the same people working (consistency) this team is authentically interested in making you good food, they make recommendations, upsell quality sides and respect solid orders. I usually judge a place on its streak or pastor tacos but they threw me for a loop and recommend the Birria cemita poblana, get this sandwich! The guac is exceptional too, fresh and salty, the way it should be. read more

Menudo was huge and en pointe albeit quite spicy even for someone who loves heat. Chicken mole enchiladas were just ok. If you've ever had real Oaxacan food, this dish was far from it. Beans were wonderful. Rice very bland. The green sauce was good, the orange and red tasted pretty similar - the latter a little hotter. Neither had much depth of flavor. If you are not a cilantro fan they can make with tomato and lettuce. We also tried the steak burrito. Steak was very tender! Loved that there was whole beans in the burrito and avocado. Marmelly's is authentic. They have the Mexican candy and the Mexican drinks of choice including Coke from Mexico. It's definitely rugged in terms of the aesthetics but it seems to be the spot for the locals. It's pretty much a hole in the wall type of place with good food. Their prices and food are better than a lot of places that claim to be Mexican. You shouldn't have to pay that much to eat a taco. We had a Cemitas torta with Milanesa, steak tacos, and a tostada of pulled pork, I believe. My torta was delicious and the people with me enjoyed their food as well. It was more than enough to eat for lunch. The service was great. The gentleman behind the counter was kind. I take one star out just because of the ruggedness of the restaurant. I'd definitely come back for take out but I don't know if I'd come alone to sit and eat. However, I saw quite a few patrons that did. read more

I Yelp-searched on the way home from work and was 2 blocks from here, saw the strong reviews and took a chance. Really really nice couple runs it, they named the place from parts of each of their kids' names. They happened to have a fresh batch of tamales: best I have ever had! Also tried one each - chicken and steak taco- really tasty, well seasoned and nice fresh corn tortillas. So glad I found it, and the owners are so nice I felt the need to help spread the word! When I am looking for a new Mexican restaurant I check the menu for something new or interesting. Marmelly's menu was on point. They have Pambazo and Cemita sandwiches,home made tortillas and huitalocoche quesadillas. These things, to me, say variety. We ordered our meal to go and tried a variety of things. For staters the chips were fresh from the frier and the guacamole was fresh and delicious. There were two salsas, red and green and both were very complex but the red was the hottest. I loved the green. We had a pork cemita and it was just a great sandwich! This was the first cemita I have tried so I have no comparison but I really enjoyed this one. We tried the tamales and loved them. The masa was moist and flavorful and the fillings were substantial and very tasty. The real surprise was the quesadillas. They were just the best I have had. They are stuffed with amazing fillings and made on housemade tortillas. I know a quesadilla seems like just simple side item but these are really special. Take a chance on the one with huitalocoche; it really is delectable. The mole enchiladas were very good as were the rice and beans. Next time I will try the enchiladas verde. I am giving 5 stars because of the uniqueness of the menu and the quality of ingredients. I also think House made tortillas deserve their own star. OK, it's a $7 - $9 / plate Mexican Restaurant, not a 4 Michelin Star Restaurant. With that in mind, the tacos, chili rellenos, enchilada mole, fajitas we just had were really, really good. Everything is really fresh (you an watch the chef cook the food)! Salsas and sauces tasted fresh and flavorful. Truly, no complaints. I recommend it, especially if you are hungry and want a nice, fresh, meal in a simple setting. (It'd be nice if they sold beer, but no big deal.) read more
