Really nice property in an excellent location in downtown. As a Marriott Platinum Rewards member, I was upgraded to a slightly bigger room on the 20th floor and the large windows faced out to the water. In the winter time (mid-January), it took a while but there was eventually a good view of some of downtown and across to the airport. Concierge lounge was closed when I arrived, so I was only able to pop in and grab a few bottles of water before they shut down. The room was quiet, it was serviced well, and the curtains did a fab job of blocking out quite a lot of the sunlight. My only complaint was that the computer in the lobby wasn't free. Sad face. There is a parking deck across the street - I think this would be a much cheaper option than using the valet. But be warned - that's also the building with the bus station so there's a certain... element... there. read more

The staff from the front desk, concierge room, maintenance and housekeeping were delightful. It was a joy to be there.

We took the shuttle here from the airport. In the heart of Anchorage, I'm so glad we chose to stay here so we can walk to most places. We can walk the Coastal Trail, go to museums, parks, even the grocery store for snacks. The rental bike shop is nearby. Several breweries for meals are walkable, and so are the couple of breakfast places. Here at Marriott is a bar with nice foods, and a beautiful breakfast dining room. There is really no reason to go out if you don't want to. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the bellman brought up our luggage. Our room is a good size and super nice with a good view of the Delaney Park Strip, which was designed as a firewall in the olden days. The snow capped mountains are all around. Four stars is for no hooks in the bathroom for wet towels. I will never understand that anywhere. And odd that there is no refrigerator in the cabinet. I do recommend staying here. read more

Unsafe place to stay. I noticed exposed electrical wires in my room. I asked for them to fix it. They assured me it was fixed and went back into the room after several hours had passed and nothing had been done. I asked to get a new room at that point. Then they sent a maintenance guy down. He explained to me that it was part of the fire alarm system and that it was broke in my room. So now I had some live electrical wires and a smoke alarm system that was broke. I moved rooms. I talked to the manager on duty and he was nice about it but it was still a not fun thing. If these front facing things are this bad then the things people don't see are prob worse. read more

I emailed manager, informed front desk and emailed customer support on August 2, 2022. I have received 3 emails back stating someone would be in touch with me within 3- business days. Stayed here for 4 days, the room was okay. I got room service everyday for breakfast. The rest of my group said the restaurant sucks and takes forever, I got nachos because I thought it would be quick but it took 20 minutes and was terrible. The lady pressured me into a tip too. The hotel is aesthetically pleasing from the outside. Everything you would expect for a Marriot hotel. However, from the moment you enter the narrow porte-cochere things start to become hit or miss. In our experience, the valet was nowhere to be found and instead of greeting us and asking how he can assist with our check in, he began questioning us, eluding that we were loitering on their property without invitation to do so. The ladies at the front desk were helpful and in great spirits, they made you feel at home and check in was effortless. The room that we were given on the 17th floor faced outwards along the bay with a wonderful view of the water and some of downtown anchorage. The room was adequately clean and of decent size but did have an unsatisfactory odor. The hotel is conveniently located in walking distance of food and several local hotspots in downtown anchorage. There is a pool and it looks nice however I did not get to use it. I attempted to use the gym however it is incredibly small for a property of this size- a couple ellipticals/treadmills and some free weights. Being an elite member, I was also disappointed in the complimentary breakfast that is only offered on the weekend in lieu of the concierge lounge -which was also confusing and disappointing on what was included for the free breakfast. The second day we were told that the majority of the breakfast on the buffet would incur an additional upgrade charge per person. Also, the wait staff never brought our drinks and we had to go find our own after we were finished eating. The elevators are in urgent need of servicing. They sound like they are going to break down and are very concerning. Not to mention there was a constant disruption every time they would ascend and descend as you could hear them from our room. read more

Legitimately the worst customer service for an overpriced hotel. A bunch of military folks booked the hotel for over two weeks, and the front desk staff lied about laundry service; claiming it was valet service only. Turns out, there's a laundry room on the seventh floor that accepts coins. Keep in mind, the laundry room was provided by their staff. Tonight, I asked for change back to utilize the laundry room and the woman on shift had a pleasant attitude, saying that people other than flight crews aren't allowed to use the laundry room--because they're paying for it. So you mean, they're paying more than the $3 to use the machines that doesn't even dry your clothes fully? Last I checked, we were paying too. Is there a contract to use your old laundry machines that we weren't aware of? You guys are great read more

The number one cool thing here is that they have Aurora Borealis wake up calls! Yes, you too can be awaken to view the northern lights. The second cool thing here is that once you state an allergy to something they remember. They communicate through some kind of Spidey Sense Neural network and they find you with hypo-allergenic meals. This appears to be the case because I only told one server about an allergy at dinner. Later on at the pasta party and the banquet the other servers would seek me out with safe alternatives. Kudos! read more

I recently completed a stay at the Marriott Hotel/Downtown, off 7th Avenue. I found the facility very comfortable for my business travel and extremely convenient to downtown restaurants and the Coastal Trail, for after-hours activities. *Staff members were attentive and quick to assist with any request. Vicky, the evening hostess in the Concierge Lounge, was especially friendly and welcoming! She made suggestions for area activities and was very kind and friendly. *I appreciated the "Green" option of declining daily housekeeping service, allowing me to help the environment while maintaining a more home-like atmosphere of knowing my room was truly private throughout the week. *Business associates advised me downtown street parking is free after 6pm, which I greatly appreciated since hotel parking was $32/night with no staff member volunteering information about free street parking. *The Concierge Lounge was really convenient for breakfast, though a meat offering would be nice. Evening reception was nice, with a light snack and dessert offering. As elite status is required for Lounge access, it was a bit low-end that water was the only beverage offered unless you paid for a cocktail; no sodas or tea. read more

A significant part of my awarding a five star rating is based on attitude and service. On this basis I award 5 stars to this hotel. The hotel is your standard Marriott hotel, and that is not a bad thing. As we travel around the world, it's reassuring to know that quality standards and consistency that we expect with Marriott are received. Staff was most accommodating. In all departments!!! Check-in, by extending our check out to 6pm. Room service with special meal requests. Concierge lounge for special opening for us. No request was denied! A very convenient couple of block walk to anything you'd want to do in Anchorage. PS. A must visit is the museum, a short 8 minute walk. read more

The hotel wifi feels like you're on dialup and someone is trying to use the home phone. Good luck if you have to do a zoom meeting or enjoy streaming movies. I don't understand how its 2021 and there can be internet this bad. If Alaska can have gluten free bread in the grocery stores it shouldn't be excluded from modern high speed internet. Location, Location, Location, this is one of the best things that this hotel has going for it. Other than that, this is a very tired example of a Marriott, which is supposed to be a "signature" hotel within the Marriott brand. Pro's: +Location - within walking distance to many of the downtown sites, shops, and restaurants +Wifi - they have it, but see cons +Staff - they were extremely friendly and helpful +Concierge lounge- they have one on the top floor. I do like the fact that while it has set hours for food offerings, it provides a nice area to relax or to meet and catch up/work with your coworkers +Beds- Pretty comfortable + Shower height - Decent + Views- gorgeous views of the mountains + Baggage scale - Are you sure that your suitcase is under the required max weight? Well fret not, there is a luggage scale in the lobby area by the touristy brochures to help you determine if you have made the cut. Con's - Price - This hotel can be pricey depending on the day you book, especially during cruise season - Hotel category - So this hotel is listed as a 7, which is toward the top end of the tier (9) is the highest. I've stayed at Courtyards that are nicer than this hotel. -Wifi - For Elites its free, but watch out if you have to pay. $14.95/day for regular and $17.??/day for "high" speed. The connection was spotty and slow at the high speed rate and all I was trying to do was check email. - Beware of cruise departure/arrival days- did I mention that it can get busy? Celebrity uses this hotel as a pickup/drop-off point for cruisers. While they do meet in the conference rooms on the second floor, it gets packed if you happen to be entering/exiting the hotel when the groups are trying to leave/enter as well. The lobby is extremely tiny and can't handle the over welling number of people. read more

I stayed during a remodeling phase, but I don't think that's the reason for the two starts. The two stars - only for the friendly front desk and the valet service. The rooms: they look nice, but poor craftsmanship. No microwave or fridge. I had to ask for a fridge. Poor room service - once they just restocked, didn't change the sheets, didn't clean, and left the dirty towels on the floor. The hotel - no breakfast of any sort. A likely remodeling excuse, but during COVID most places at least passed a to-go bag. Overpriced room service - way overpriced. And finally, the location seems close to downtown, but it's on the edge of downtown and with a poor surrounding area. I recommend you find another hotel closer to the mall area. . read more

Located right downtown, easy to walk to local attractions and restaurants. They get busy, so it took a few minute to check in, but the guy (Patrick?) who helped us was friendly and verbally appreciated our Marriott status. They don't offer free parking which was a bit of a pain, but perhaps that's common in larger cities. City parking is free from 6pm until 9am and is cheap through the PayByPhone app. We didn't use the housekeeping, but when we asked for more tea bags, coffee and a corkscrew, they were VERY quick to get us the items. Our view on the 15th floor was great, and we were able to get into the concierge lounge for decent food on the 20th floor. It's not that special, but a nice touch with very friendly service. For the price they charge, I felt like the hotel lacked that WOW factor. I have paid less in nicer hotels in bigger cities. Also, we had stayed at the Fairbanks SpringHill Marriott which housed the most comfortable bed I've ever shut my eyes on, yet I found this bed to be more stiff and much less comfortable. This was better than the Airbnb we had stayed at 2 nights prior, and I didn't shop any other hotels, so I guess I'll recommend staying here and move on with my life. read more

Location is very convenient to the Denai'na Convention Center. One thing that is often tough in big hotels is the elevators. I know it sounds like a small thing, but the elevators are lightning-fast here, which I love. Concierge Lounge has great views of Anchorage and the bay, and is well-stocked throughout the day. Rent did a great job at breakfast each day - by himself as far as I could team. He is an excellent reflection on the brand. Gym is open 24 hours, and the pool essentially is, too. This was helpful to me, as my Eastern time zone body gave me a wake up call around 3 AM each morning. Valets and front desk staff were helpful and attentive, as well. read more

Marriott Anchorage is my first choice for a hotel in Alaska. They are always quick to get me checked in and most of the time I get an upgrade to the concierge level. I suggest you take advantage of their valet parking. It's nice to have your windows scraped and your car warmed up when you are ready to leave the building. this is a full-service Marriott with all the amenities you would expect to have. It's only a short walk to the downtown restaurants, bars and shopping. Next time you're visiting Anchorage I suggest you give the Marriott a try. read more

We stayed at the hotel for the Christmas Holiday and were impressed from Check-in to our departure 5 days later. The staff really made the experience what it was. They are amazingly accommodating, kind, genuine and truly interested in making sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Marriott Downtown Anchorage is a pretty decent example of a Marriott. The parking is limited to Easy Park or valet at the hotel. If using the valet and coming and going quickly, tell the attendant and they will keep your vehicle in the street loading zone for fast access. The only bad I have to mention would be one of the concierge lounge attendants acted like I was in the way by being there while he was trying to stock the lounge. This was an exception to everything else I experienced while staying at the hotel. read more

Who wants to sleep in a room that is 75°? Apparently they turn off the air conditioning for the "season". Not good, especially in a hotel without windows that open!!!!! As two long-time elite members of the Marriott Group, we were deeply troubled by our recent stays at Marriott Anchorage Downtown, AK. Not only did we not receive any hospitality, we were treated in an extremely unprofessional, hostile, discriminatory, verbally abusive, and physically threatening manner by your receptionist Mr. TAYFON ONUR. His rage, anger, and hatred towards us were unprecedented in our decades-long travel history and lodging experience worldwide. TAYFON ONUR's behavior was so outrageous and the Hotel's violation of CDC covid guidelines was so severe that we believed we had the duty to report this misconduct to the said hotel's general manager Mr. Brandon Donnelly, but our request was ignored while we were at the property, and thus we are filing this complaint to the Marriott Group. We ask for a thorough investigation, compensation, and any necessary disciplinary action taken to the said personnel to prevent the Marriott brand from suffering from further damage. Update on June 3, 2021. The general manager Brandon Donnelly called and left me a message on June 1 and asked me to call him back, which I did on June 3. I offered to share everything in writing to Brandon Donnelly via email but he refused to provide his email upon repeated requests and showed no interest in understanding customer complaints. He then accused me of talking over him while he had interrupted me several times and tried to silence me. Brandon Donnelly then hung up on me. Throughout the brief conversation, I did not sense any sincerity in resolving our complaints or even any interest in understanding our dissatisfaction as evidenced by the general manager's refusal to provide contact information, attempts to silence customers, and ultimately cutting off the conversation by hanging up on the customer. We ask to communicate with a supervisor from the Marriott Group not the individual hotel as clearly this hotel is incapable of and unwilling to handle customer complaints. Thus far, we haven't heard back yet. read more

Came in on a midnight flight, had our room booked months in advance. Was informed our room would be ready five minutes after we checked in. We sat in the lobby for more than half an hour before we could go up. When we talked to the receptionist, she informed us that the hotel was overbooked, and the only reason a room was available was because someone had checked out early. Had we arrived any later we would not have gotten a room at all, even though the room had been booked for months, as I stated before. Management needs to work on preventing this kind of thing in the future. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

Hotel itself structurally is decent and seems to have recently been renovated but Management is RUINING IT! We checked in the first night and are Ambassador level Marriott members and were given a nice large room. But no soap in the bathroom. Kleenex box empty. Shower gel in shower empty but nice room. The next day they kicked us out of the room- deactivated our keys and told us the room was "contracted to someone else" and we had to move rooms- no choice. But sent up some brownies with a "we are sorry note." The next day the housekeeping didn't remove the garbage or dirty glasses. Day #3 at 10am we asked the room be cleaned and extra towels and were told "right away" - at 5:45pm it still had not been done- we had also mentioned there was garbage in the elevator in the morning . We went down to the front desk and told them which was met with insincere concern and mentioned the elevator had now additional garbage on the floor since the morning now added to the floor raw pineapple. So we went to the Club lounge to wait for them to clean the room and in the lounge they have NO free wine or beer and additionally have some liquor out with a charge form to fill out to bill to your room. A nice African-American gentleman poured himself a Tito's and filled out the form and sat down and the hostess came over and essentially accused him of stealing saying that the "pour" was more than what it "should be." and he owed more $ they would bill to his room. Seriously?? Then someone came to the lounge to tell us our room had been cleaned. These photos are AFTER the room was "cleaned!" Hotel is your typical Marriott. Room and facilities were clean and well maintained. Front desk was super friendly and welcoming during check-in. Hotel itself wasn't like spectacular especially when charging $400 a night. Parking was expensive but I decided to park on the street just in front of the hotel. The area seems safe but just don't leave anything visible inside the car. I was here couple of months ago and ate at its restaurant. I had the Marriott burger and it was quite tasty. Service was excellent. Unfortunately I couldn't say the same during this visit. I ordered the same burger and it was completely the opposite. Burger was bland and patty was dried. It tasted like cardboard. The waitress was slow and too preoccupied with her coworkers. read more

It's a standard hotel with high prices and you get nothing for it. Room was just ok though it was clean. Our view was of mountains and the parking lots that surround the place ( we were on the 14th floor) and believe me there are plenty of parking lots. As a matter of fact they're cheaper than the $35 a night that the hotel charges. Yes the hotel is in the middle of downtown but frankly there's not a whole lot to see there. The downtown area doesn't have a lot to see though there is a shopping mall. There are NO grocery stores and we only found one little bodega type place. Not even a Walgreen's or CVS and trust me, we did a lot of walking. About six miles a day. I stayed there because that was the hotel that my RCCL cruise-tour put us up at. The breakfast buffet which is all you can order is either continental for $19 or the full for $28 a person. You'd think they would throw in something but you'd think wrong. Staff was nice enough. If your cruise line puts you up there you have no choice but if I was traveling I'd look for something better. read more

This is the worst Marriott that I have ever stayed at! The service is terrible. When you ask a question they seem inconvenienced by your question. When we have called to ask for help on anything we have not been able to get any help. Also, even though we are titanium we are told we need to pay for hot breakfast . I agreed to pay for it, yet when we got to the limited hot counter there was no bacon or pancakes left and the eggs were all dried out. My husband and I began to laugh about how many things didn't work. I waited for a long time at the coffee bar and when she finally got to me, I asked for decaf and she said they have been out of decaf beans for 2 weeks! That, at minimum, should be on the sign- but why couldn't they get some from all the nearby shops that have them? The ATM was out of service and printer was out of ink. What a nightmare. As a Lifetime Platinum Member, I cannot recommend this hotel. Upon arrival, valet is nowhere to be found-- while my husband gathered luggage outside, I asked a clerk, whom I later found out was the front desk manager, if there was a concierge desk and she replied RUDELY , "What's THAT?"....... I then asked if there was help with luggage and she pointed to a luggage rack-- I brought the luggage rack to my husband who was upset there was no help-- I returned to the front desk and again asked for help with our luggage and she called someone on the phone to come help--- seems she didn't want to disturb him!! As she checked us in, I asked about club room hours and she LAUGHED and said it was closed on weekend, but not to worry, she was going to give us one free water-- she was extremely unprofessional and talked down to us-- and kept having a discussion with her other staff member about going to karaoke that night! While checking us in-- she forgot to give us a breakfast voucher and when I reminded her, she laughed AGAIN, and said we needed to pay an up charge if we ate the buffet!! Finally, I had enough and asked her to transfer my reservation to the Sheraton, which was down the street-- she said I would not get a refund!! As a lifetime Platinum, I knew this was incorrect, but assumed possibly the rules changed!! When I got in my room, I called Marriott Bonvoy and was told I could have cancelled and would have received a full refund if I had not checked in-- she lied to me!! The room was simple, view of parking Lot was disgusting, and peeling paint is on the walls-- lumpy bed needing new mattress-- WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!
