Their professionalism is first class in every way, yet they treat you like your a friend or a member of the family. If you only read one sentence of my review, read this: Dr. Young is unquestionably the best dentist! After another local dentist told me I had a cracked tooth and 3 cavities, the repair for which would be $1700 (no cash discount as I don't have dental insurance), I consulted yelp and found Marshall Young DDS. He seemed too good to be true, still I called the office and was shocked to find how friendly and accommodating his receptionist was! She answered my many questions carefully and offered me a next day appointment that had just opened up after a cancellation. I went in for the most gentle and thorough cleaning ever (thanks to Fariba!). Next, Dr. Young examined my teeth and lo and behold, he stated that the crack did NOT require a crown and I only had one (not 3!) cavity!! Two weeks later, he gently made the repairs. I should note that I scheduled a 4:00pm appointment, but it turned out my son had a game rescheduled for that day and I didn't want to miss it. So I called the office at 7:30am, expecting to leave a voice mail; instead, Dr. Marshal himself answered the phone! I told him my situation and asked if perhaps there were a cancellation and I could switch my time. Within the hour he had made calls and adjustments to accommodate me, and called me back himself to let me know. He said he would've felt terrible if I had to miss that game! After the repairs, I paid less than 25% of the quote from the other dentist. BUT WAIT! An hour later I got a call from Dr. Young stating that he felt the charges were a bit high considering how quickly he was able to make the repairs; thus, he already had his office mail a refund check - and sure enough, that check was in my hand the following day! Who does that??!!! He's skilled, personable, well priced, honest, and above all he treats his patients with respect and kindness. His staff is equally amazing, which is no surprise:-). read more

I just wanted to try a new dentist and I heard through my friend that he was a really great dentist. So I thought I would give him a try. I had a root canal done today. =( However, I never had such a pleasant experience having a root canal done. =) Dr. Young makes sure you are okay throughout the whole process. Wow! Just had my first visit with Dr. Young and had to call my husband to tell him how happy I am that I finally made the move. The office is located in the same plaza as Kean's coffee which is a plus! It was very easy to find parking! The staff is super friendly and the vibe is more at my pace (not to mention the great background music that they had!). My hygienist was thorough and walked me through everything. Doesn't get much better than this - I actually came from Northern California to see Dr. Young! He happens to be my son and daughter's dentist and they spoke so highly of him, I decided to schedule an appt. during my last visit on Halloween. I had two, lower front teeth that were doing something weird - chipping - and I knew something needed to be done, but wasn't sure what was the solution. After my examination, Dr. Young explained what was happening and we discussed all the different options. Settled on the least obtrusive, filling and shaping the teeth. He did an amazing job and Marcella finished things up by making sure my bite was perfect. Not only is Dr. Young an excellent dentist with a wonderful staff, he's a great guy! My current dentist is almost retired, so I have no problem switching to Dr. Young! Just means when I visit my kids in SoCal, I'll be scheduling my dentals visit too! He's worth the trip! I am so impressed with Dr. Young and his staff. From the moment I walked in, I was quickly put at ease by the warm feel of the waiting room. I had a chipped front tooth and was very anxious about the aesthetic aspect of the tooth. When it comes to your front teeth...you really need someone who understands and is skilled in matching the color, the look, and even the feel of the tooth. My own dentist could not see me for weeks and I wasn't about to go walking around with a big chunk missing off my front tooth. So I yelped dentists in my area and saw the reviews and decided to see for myself. He did a superb job and I could not be more pleased. Super gentle and excellent artist...it really is an art to get a FRONT tooth restoration to look this good. He is so honest and reasonable, too. His assistant is really very skilled too....not surprisingly, she has been with Dr. Young for years...If I worked for someone that nice I would never quit either. Keep up the great work Dr. Young! I generally hate going to dentists. But now i will make an exception for Dr. Young. Firstly he has excellent bedside manner and is extremely patient in the way he explains what he is planning to do next. Also every few minutes he asks you if you are comfortable. His front desk and assistants are also excellent. Also the music is awesome too! I I had a wisdom tooth extracted today. Before he did this, the good doctor even suggested that if i was apprehensive, he would recommend me to an excellent oral surgeon. I've had 5 previous dentists over the years, and he is by far the best. I didn't know that getting a filling could be painless, and the tooth looks and feels better than the original filling. I've never been to Dr. Young yet, as my appointment is two days away. However, I started experiencing a lot of jaw pain so I called in and the receptionist took the time to listen to my symptoms and placed me on hold to go get Dr. Young himself! He actually came right to the phone and started asking me questions, writing everything down and giving me his opinion on the pre-diagnosis. Okay, this review may be biased because Dr. Marshall Young is going to be my future cousin. However, with that aside, he is quite young, energetic, and tries to make procedures as less painful as possible. His employees are really nice, and the receptionist calls a day or 2 ahead of your appointment to remind you that you have an appointment. His assistant (Marcela) is really really nice, and she drives from Pico Rivera to Newport Beach every day! They do Invisalign here (that's what i'm getting done), and if you've tried looking around, not everyone does Invisalign. When you go in, don't be surprised if you hear KIIS Fm on the radio and he's singing along to a popular song. That's just the vibe there. I've been going to him since August 2008, and I've only noticed one male patient. They have always been female! Kind of weird. They are closed on Thursday and weekends. The bathroom has mouthwash, toothpaste, and individually-wrapped toothbrushes. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Young! I always get nervous about going to the dentist because there's always something wrong or they're trying to make you pay for something that you really don't need. Basically, I never trusted dentists until I met Dr. Anderson who eventually retired and referred me to Dr. Young. I can definitely trust Dr. Young to give me honest answers. He's also funny as heck. He has a lot to say and easy to talk to. He definitely puts you at ease when you are in one of the most vulnerable positions laying on that dentist chair. His staff is wonderful, friendly and patient. I ask a million questions, and they take the time to answer them in a very thorough way. He's very knowledgeable and has the latest technology in dentistry. Oh, and he just moved so his new office is bigger and better with a pretty cool view of Westcliff street. I gave up on dentists a long time ago, I thought they were uncaring, untrustworthy, pain inducing villains....then I started figuring out how much my mouth matters, appearance-wise, but more importantly health-wise, so reluctantly and skeptically I went out searching for one. I found Dr. Young on here and based on his glowing reviews I scheduled an appointment. Wow is he the opposite of what I thought all dentists were! I was soooo pleasantly surprised I could barely contain myself. He is so upbeat and positive, asks questions and really listens to what you have to say, when he worked on my teeth I was terrified, but he was so gentle! I even let him fill my first cavity (I was bound to have one after skipping out for so long) and it was so easy and painless I have no idea what I was so scared about! Dr. Young does not try to up sale you and the teeth he has fixed (one being a real hard repair) look so good, he is a true perfectionist. Ok let me first start off by saying, I don't Yelp. Unless you really tick me off or absolutely supersede my expectations - I generally keep my opinions to myself. However, Dr. Young and his staff are very much the latter in this case and I feel very much obligated to write about how truly amazing they are. First off, I came to Dr. Marshall after my mother (who was referred by my sister) said that I should go to his office and get a quote for Invisalign Express. The dentist I have been going to for 9 years quoted me $3,000 and when Dr. Marshalls office quoted me $2,200 I was sold! (10 points for making my mission for straight teeth just that much more affordable.) Jana his staff member squeezed me in a week later for impressions and off I went. Now here's where it gets impressive. Normally, it takes a little over a month between impressions and trays, but Jana took it upon herself to work with the company to expedite the process and I was in them about a week and 1/2 early. (10 points for being efficient!) Fast forward to Month 2 of this process. I show up for my appointment (to glue new attachments on my teeth) on Thursday at 6:30 PM (which they aren't even open on Thursday) and discover the office dark and Dr. Young and his assistant Marcella walking out the door. (I think they had come in on their day off for a dental emergency.) Dr. Young asks where I was yesterday and that they tried to call me!!! Oh no!! I was under a lot of pressure at work, and apparently I missed my appointment!!! Dr. Young was already running really late to dinner with his wife and even though they had already shut off the lights and were leaving, they turned them all back on, powered everything back up, loaded me in the chair and spend an extra 15 minutes gluing the necessary attachments on my teeth for my next 2 trays of Invisalign. (10 points for being so amazing and accommodating to people with bouts of idiocy.) Anyway, I can't say enough good things about the whole team at Dr. Young's office and I plan on "breaking up" with my former dentist before my next cleaning! read more

Dr. Young is the best! Not only does he do an awesome job with dentistry ( making you feel comfortable and at ease) but he remembers you on a personal level. Every time I see Dr. Young (once a year) it is like seeing an old friend...I want to hang out and talk more. One time I had to see him for a minor procedure (braces for 7 years and a headgear for 5 will do that to you). I had something happen at work and was stressed out... Dr. Young is an outstanding dentist. I started with Dr. Young after getting the up sell by other dentists several years ago. Dr. Young is honest, sincere a great dentist and cares about his patients all while producing fantastic results. After years of hating to go the the dentist I now enjoy my visits with him, his staff is very friendly and down to earth as well and he has low to no turnover. Dr. Young has since become my wife's dentist and my 8 year old daughters as well, she never ever complains about going to the dentist, and brags that she is a great brusher when she comes home, thanks Dr. Young for providing my daughter such a positive experience at the dentists office. I have referred several friends and family over the years and they are all now exclusive to Dr. Young. If you are seeking a new dentist I highly recommend Dr. Young. I've been coming to see Dr. Young and his wonderful staff for about two years now, and I'm going in for a cleaning later today (yay!). Now, I have no fear of the dentinst, but I do appreciate great service and care, because I grew up with a Periodontist for a step dad (whom I also worked for at one point) and I know when someone's jerking my chain. I would recommend Dr. Young to ANYONE, except anyone who would be a pain in the butt to him or his staff (so basically, you better be on my good side and a cool person for me to recommend him to you).
