This place charges $240 an hour for repairs!! I called to ask about prices for a bulb replacement and was told by the mechanic that depending on how much time and complexity, the signal bulb replacement would be between $20 to $40 dollars. I had to wait a few days as I was waiting for the car. After the work, I was told by the lead guy that it was easy to replace, and it took less than 15 minutes for the job. When I was presented with the bill, I realized that this shop is unethical and fraudulent. I was charged over $60 to pull out an easy to reach signal bulb and replace with a new one. The lead bragged about how easy it was as he computed how he would rip me off. Women, do not use this shop as they will pull a Neanderthal move and quote 1 price, then fraudulently charge another price. read more

This place is odd. Odd but in a good way. So I live in S. Mpls and will make the drive across the Lake St. Bridge as this place has their gas prices set 10 cents a gallon less then the SA near me. Why? Who knows. Who cares. Either way the place is convenient. The pumps also ask for your zip code if you're running your debit card and they have all the amenities of air, window washing(always full and clean) and snacks if you need something. The place will also wrench on your car if needed but I've never used them for that. The other odd little quirk? Their 88 octane gas is cheaper then the 87 octane gas. Odd? Yes. Do I question it? For a gas station, these guys are ok in my book. It takes a lot to get more than a 3 star from me when it comes to gas stations. The first time I went there, it took me a few moments to figure out the pumps. The unleaded 87 is in the MIDDLE of the three selections (not the far left). That just seems odd. FYI, if you drive a japanese non-performance car, it is not recommended to put anything but 87 in your car. So maybe you can get the midgrade for same price but probably shouldn't. I have been there at least 5 times and twice the pump was out of paper and I had to go inside to get a receipt. I really hate that. Getting in and out at the corner of Cretin and Marshall is a major pain. That is a very very busy intersection. Also... Not many pumps and arranged in a wonky discordant way. If you have a flex fuel car, they have both types of ethanol so there are definitely good fuel options. They have a full service auto repair shop. I can't speak to how good that is however. As far as what they have inside.... bare minimum at best for snacks and beverages. The attendant was nice when I went inside for my receipt though. Really the only reason I go to this station is it's the closest to my guy's place and I often end up low on gas when heading to or from his place and having to stop. I've learned from experience that the Marshall Cretin Service Center BP station has the friendliest, most reliable, proficient, trustworthy, and easy-to-understand crew that has ever worked on my family's vehicles. We've only bought used vehicles, and I believe our latest ones have lasted to a ripe old age due to the care provided by this station. In addition, the crew is extremely accommodating, going out of their way to help meet any rush jobs we've requested, and those working at the desk are congenial, so the atmosphere there is welcoming and uplifting. Estimates, repair charges, and any additional work they find that needs to be done while your vehicle is being repaired are all thoroughly explained. (I appreciate how they're honest about whether the additional work is an immediate danger, or if I can safely wait to have it done.) When your vehicle is ready they'll notify you, and for sure you won't find any stray grease marks or oily fingerprints on it. Note: If you have a job that needs to be done on your vehicle that you don't see listed on their site, call them to see if they can handle it. You'll be glad you did! Bottom line: Whether your vehicle needs just minor work or an extensive repair, you'll appreciate the quality of their work and your entire experience with them. The service here is so wonderful it has prompted me to write my first review! I have been going to see Dan at this BP location for a few years now and my experience has always been beyond amazing. He remembers me (or at least my car!) is very helpful and explains my car issues in a way my non-mechanic brain can understand! They are always prompt and I have never felt like they are trying to squeeze money out of me just because they can. I had to drop my car off and go to work and Dan personally gave me ride to my office so I didn't have to walk! I have edited this review from my previous review. Since I wrote the review both Dan and the owner, Steve, have reached out to discuss my frustrations. I had been going to this mechanic for about 6 years. Some of the repairs I am unconvinced were completed in the most cost-effective or efficient way. I was also very frustrated by the pricing here. After having spoke with Dan and Steve we have reached the conclusion that there were certainly communication issues. I stand by the fact that there was a repair done that could have been differently and more cost-effectively. Dan and I also discussed another repair I previously wrote about that is potentially causing more harm to my car now. I don't know if it's the particular repair or not but it could absolutely have been done differently and I was not given that option originally; again a communication breakdown. The absolute biggest frustration I still have is the cost of their parts. Steve said they get "premium parts" which is why they're more expensive plus any business will mark-up the prices. He stated that he sells his parts at list price and not more. If that is the case, I am unconvinced he is getting the best deal he can on parts. I think he is making a lot of money on parts. In our meeting, Dan seemed very genuine, and he was a big part of the reason I brought my car in there for so long. I think he really does want his customers to understand what is going on with their cars and wants to fix them in the best way possible. I told him if I am to bring my car back there again, I want every single option available, even if it's one he might consider a gamble. My biggest thing is I wanted to be the one making those decisions. He agreed that is possible and is willing to work with me on that. I am not sure I can get over the expense of the parts at this shop. To their credit, they are willing to work with me to address my frustrations and come to a fair conclusion to resolve my issues. A few corrections from my previous review: 1) The quote was $500/side for parts and labor on the wheel bearings though I still feel this is high. 2) I have indeed spent over $1,000 on my car myself (not including what my father had spent previously) though many of those repairs were necessary; there was one I am still convinced it was not necessary or could have been done differently. read more
