Unfortunately, when we arrived, we found out that Salsa Night had been moved to Saturday. There was no announcement on their website or social media, and no one contacted us to let us know about the change. Instead, there was a rock band playing, which wasn't what we had planned our evening around. It was disappointing because we chose this place specifically for the salsa music and dancing. I hope they do a better job communicating schedule changes in the future. A simple update online or a message to guests with reservations would have saved us the trip and the disappointment.

What a find! A small boutique winery focused on small batch artisanal natural wines, with no additives and minimal intervention in the vineyard and cellar. Dirk and Michelle Uys, originally from South Africa, are winemakers crafting extremely complex, refreshing wines that delight the palate. Reservations are required for tastings, and the atmosphere is perfect for experiencing their work, with quiet music playing and a gentle breeze on the back porch overlooking their property, peppered with olive trees and grape vines. For my tasting, I selected the following: Riesling 2023 (Silver Medal Winner) Primitivo 2012 (Silver Medal Winner). Merus 2021 (Silver Medal Winner) is a Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Syrah blend. Petite Syrah Reserve 2022. Bistro 2021 is a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Syrah. As I sampled each of my selections, analyzing the tasting notes, body, color, tannins, and complexity, Dirk or Michelle provided in-depth knowledge of their journey, wine making, the labor of their accomplishments, their discoveries, and in the end, I was convinced that they had actually discovered "the soul of wine". This up close and personal sit down tasting at this location is by reservation only. Our tasting was highlighted by owner, Phil Baily, joining us and sharing stories of Temecula Valley Wine country history. What a treat! Our server, David, also took good care of us. Our wine tasting was a mix of three whites and three reds, paired with a small charcuterie board and a pumpkin cookie. Very good wines here! When here, also keep an eye out for Bordeaux, one of their winery cats. Though he's pretty vocal and you really can't miss him as he peers out at you from the barrel room. We were in Temecula this weekend for a soccer tournament and were told by a friend that this winery was a must-visit -- and it absolutely lived up to the recommendation. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality elevated the entire experience. Last time I was here was probably 12 years ago, and WOW has this place changed. It's basically the Disneyland of wineries now! There's a mimosa station when you arrive, wine tastings in the main building, cabana-style seating on the lawn, and tables and chairs almost everywhere you look. They also have an onsite grille restaurant, wine clubs, tours, and the cutest little shop inside. The property itself is beautiful with tons of photo spots, vineyards you can stroll through, and even a little man-made lake that gives the whole place a whimsical feel. There's also a ballroom with a huge projector where we watched the World Cup game! And random but important... bathrooms everywhere. The dress code is super chill here! It was HOT when we visited, and I even saw guys walking around in flip-flops, so definitely dress comfortably for the weather. They even have a shuttle that picks you up and drops you off at the parking lot! It comes around about every 15 minutes, and tips are welcomed. Our shuttle driver told us Wilson Creek has a contract with Disneyland, where they sell their infamous Almond Champagne, and you can also find some of their champagnes at Ralph's! The staff were all super friendly! For tastings, you purchase a tasting card at the register and then belly up to the wine bar to choose your pours. You can also just grab a glass or bottle of wine, and they even have beers on tap! You can get married here, host an event, grab food, spend the day wine tasting, or just hang out and enjoy the property. It's seriously such a happening place and we can't wait to come back!
