I recognized this food from the time I spent in New Zealand, where they are everywhere. It seems this traditional mining food that came from England had been very popular in this area due to its mining history. Great to see the historical food still being served in the area. The shop had a very simple and basic ambience, but lens itself to the hard-working honesty of the miner. This is one of two pasty shops in town and I'm not sure which one is definitively the best, but... this one cost half as much as the other... You be the judge.

I drove by the other day and knew that I had to come back and check them out. They offer several flavors to pick from and two different sizes mini and regular, I went with the regular. They are a cash or check only place with limited street parking and no public restrooms. The inside seating area is small and good for groups of two.

Still so very good and comforting food. Ordered to go , and heated them up later. Wholesome ingredients, packed with flavor, and very reasonably priced. There is a reason why they sell out early...

My beautiful wife and I were watching a short YouTube video about pasties in Grass Valley. The video featured Marshall's so we thought we'd check it out when we came to visit. Marshall's is a small place with a few tables and chairs inside. Bring cash, as they do not accept cards. I ordered the chicken pastie and my wife ordered the sausage. Our selection was limited since it was later in their work hours and they were out of a lot of stuff. The pasties were delicious! I think I liked the sausage one the best. I am definitely going to learn how to make them myself. Please give this place a try if you are ever in Grass Valley. Visit earlier in the day so there maybe a larger selection!

Wow! My husband and I were so excited to try pasties knowing their history and origin and this place is absolutely incredible. The pasties are delicious. These pasties you could eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The shop is small and intimate and the ladies working there are all so lovely. If you are traveling through I suggest bringing a cooler to take some home as we regret not bringing our own cooler to take some back with us. We are definitely going to be back and we will be loading up on pasties!

Mystery meat textured beef, no vegetables, and a soft/soggy crust. This is nothing like the pasties in Cornwall :(

Stopped here on the way back to SF. I don't know why people are writing "authentic" in their reviews because these are nothing like pasties from Cornwall. I ordered the beef, it was just filled with weird beef that was the texture of mystery meet and potatoes. There were no vegetables, like in a real Cornish pastie, and it was totallly BLAND. The crust of a real, baked Cornish pasties is supposed to be thick, firm, buttery, crumbly, and flaky - they have a glossy sheen. The crust on this one was genuinely like a hot pocket. I hate to say this, but this was the hot pocket version of a Cornish Pastie. Giving two stars because the lady behind the counter was nice and the service was fast.

My wife and I had a fun and educational experience. Every menu item was fairly-priced (all the same price). The sit-down area might accommodate about 10 people comfortably. It was fun and tasty!

    Small beef pasty. 5 bucks.

Marshalls pasties have been around since 1955! They are located at 203 Mill Street in downtown Grass Valley. They bake their pasties fresh every day. It's a very small spot but there is tables for eating inside. It is pronounced Past_e. The men that would mine in Nevada County would get these as a staple . I love that their prices are still decent.. I got 2 small beef pasties for 5.85 each! There is a newer pasty shop in Grass Valley but it is twice as expensive! You can eat your pasty overlooking downtown Grass Valley. This is owner operated (mother and daughter I think). The employee was friendly and I did not have to wait for my pasties which I really liked! I took a picture of their varied hours ( only closed on Tuesdays). It is next to Bloom hair salon and directly across from Wells Fargo. There is limited parking on the street. It's Part of nevada county history and still going strong!

Consistent, and historical. Not gourmet, but full of love and committment. A staple for us when we don't want to cook.

I went here on a whim because it had a good Yelp score. Glad we did. Casual place, friendly staff…read more Self serve fountain drinks for refills. Menu is not overwhelming so you know everything should be pretty good. Ordered the Smoldering burger with extra patty, the nut burger, kids plain burger (cheese not included and is extra--didn't add it here) (comes with chips and fountain drink), regular dog with cheese, and 2 order of fries. Came out to Bout $65 tax included. Everything is made to order. You can taste the freshness. The patties on the burger are generous. I mean the kids burger is a 1/4 lb patty. I believe it looks to be the same with the other burgers. Even if I just stuck to a single patty, it would not have felt like the bread was overpowering due to the bacon and other toppings on the burger. The burger was dang good. It looked and tasted like a $15 burger (more like $19 since I added an extra patty for $3.80). Just wish fries were included at this price point. The surprise here is the vegetarian Nut burger. This thing was flavorful. Good mouth feel and satisfying full of flavor. If I was mistakenly given this instead of a real burger I would be ok with it. Some people may not like the texture--as it is nutty, but its not too bad. Fries were fries, but using their house made ketchup for it along with the burger just enhances it. Didn't try the hot dog, but it was finished so I'm assuming it was fine. Only gripe was my smoldering burger seemed to be cooked too much as it started to get on the drier side. Not totally well done, but would have been better just if taken off a little sooner. Maybe the cook just lost track of time on this one. Definitely coming again when in the area!

I GOT TO COLOUR! Honestly you throw in some colouring pages and I'm sold!…read more The food was absolutely delicious and felt so natural and fresh too. I had the daily special Greek wrap but others I was with ordered burgers and quesadillas. I will say that the garlic fries were VERY garlicky to the point where our whole car reeked of garlic for a day afterwards! The service was great and everyone was so so kind! We had an adult who wanted to order a kids meal when the menu specifically says 12 and under, but they still let us get the meal which was so nice! The vibe was fun but it was very very busy and chaotic inside. We ended up waiting about 35 minutes for our food but the colouring made up for it! I'd definitely come back sometime when I have some more time to spare.

Complimentary Chilean bread rolls brought to the table right away with garlic herb butter, salsa verde sauce (chimicuri like) so good, made the old fashioned way with pork fat. Calamari Frito, Cajun seasoning, light and crunchy with a house made tarter sauce (excellent server brought us an additional tarter) Crab stuffed chili Relleno was a creative version of this meal I've eaten dozens of times, feta and a sweet sauce with the rock crab was delicious. Panqueque especial ,chorizo had a little kick but was cooled off by the pineapple and sweetness of the crepe.
