I read so many good things about this place but the food were just bland for us. It doesn't taste authentic or flavorful. I did enjoy the beef burrito but the pork green chile burrito was a cheese burrito with a side of pork.. I'm fine with eating a lil cheese as a lactose intolerant but it was just not as meaty as the beef burrito as I expected. The rice was dry and not flavorful along with the beans; which these sides are usually my favorite :(. We didn't finish most of our food and just left. read more

MartAnne's is a go-to for my trips up to Flagstaff. The decor is fun, staff are attentive and the food is consistent. I recommend chorizo breakfast, pozole for lunch, enchiladas or chimichanga for dinner. Order a classic plate and you can't go wrong. There is a debate for the best Bloody Mary in Flag and I'd have to go with MartAnne's. It comes with a crispy jalapeño popper in the garnish. Breakfast and lunch served all day. Be aware there is limited parking so you may want to park a block north or on the street. read more

Food was decent. I took my son and two of his friends, NAU students, here for dinner. My wife's plate was never delivered. The staff apologized and removed it from our bill. My son's friend went to the counter to ask for a box to take her leftovers back to the dorm and was told by the staff that there is a charge for the box. So she decided not to get the box since I was paying and she didn't want to add that to my bill. I said that's totally unacceptable and I went to the counter, asked for a box, and was promptly handed one without any mention of extra charge. So why was a young woman told she would have to pay more and I was told, "no problem, here you go, sir." ? read more

MartAnne's is quite possibly the best Mexican food, I've had in a long time. Gladly, they don't serve chips and salsa unless you ask. There was so much food we didn't need it. I had Pablo's last meal. A huge enchilada loaded with cheese, chicken and sour cream. Covered in green enchilada sauce and topped with guacamole. Served with guacamole. We all raved about our meals. All the artwork on the walls is for sale. The space is very bright with skeleton paintings brightly painted walls. Plenty of parking. read more

We took out because we had our pups with us. I didn't even have time to take a picture before we totally scarfed everything! Hubby got the J.B.'s Volcano which was named after a friend of his! I got the Gringo, and the pancakes, hash browns, eggs, and bacon were delish! When I went to pick up, the decor is really cute and staff are super friendly! We can't wait to come back! read more

Food is not authentic. We have better Mexican food in stockton. I would not recommend this. Green sauce taste like it's from the can. No flavor in the rice, tortillas are store bought. Chilaquiles chips were not fried...I could go on. Just not worth it. read more

I think I'm still full from this meal three days later . A charming building in downtown Flagstaff, MartAnne's was our stop for breakfast. Picky 9 had French toast and was satisfied. Hubs had the chilaquiles, and he thought they were fabulous. Kid 1 had French toast and was miserably full. I had the Mexican egg combo in the photo. The pico de gallo was the highlight. Came in right at opening on a Thursday before my trek to Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon. Servers were super nice and diligent. Food came out quickly and was delicious. It's so colorful and happy here! The local art for sale and display was really fun to look through, and I'll think about that Bloody Mary for a long time. Stopped by based on ratings and this place did not disappoint. The hostess was not very friendly, but our server, Jack, was terrific! Although everything on the menu looked delicious, we opted for the Jerry El Mujeriego and JB's Volcano. The portions were large. So much food, but it was so good that we had to clear our plates. Jack also suggested the house salsa, which was a great addition. This place is a must when in Flagstaff! It does get very busy and they do not appear to take reservations so plan accordingly. While waiting and dining, you can enjoy the beautiful artwork hanging on the walls, which are also available for purchase. read more

Tried out MartAnne's for a quick breakfast on a Sunday morning. This place is situated along Route 66 near a popular shopping plaza in downtown Flagstaff. We were able to secure parking out front with no issues. After a 15 minute wait we were showed to our table and service was almost immediate. We ordered the Huevos Benedicto and the MartAnne's Burrito with bacon. The food came quickly and the portions were generous. Unfortunately, the benedict lacked flavor even with the side of salsa. I wouldn't call the sauce slathered on top hollandaise, and the eggs were cooked over medium. Overall, it was an imposter eggs benedict and if that's your go-to breakfast order maybe pick something else. The MartAnne's breakfast burrito was huge with a generous serving of beans, rice, and hash browns. A slight lack of flavor was remedied by the side salsa, however, the bacon was not evenly distributed within the burrito. Service was quick and kind, it was clear the restaurant staff was experienced dealing with long wait times. There's a big menu and I'd encourage you to try it for yourself. read more

We had a satisfying and delicious feast atMartAnne's including the masa pockets (tasty), mango chili margarita (just a touch of spice), and their signature chilaquiles. We had the breakfast version with scrambled eggs. I found the chips to be a little soggy but my (usually picky) wife didn't mind them at all. I actually really enjoyed the masa pockets - very corny and filled with tasty melted Oaxaca cheese. We'll be back to try lots more of their creations! read more

This place is awesome! I'm from Vegas-- when it comes to food, it can be a bit difficult to impress. MartAnne's, though, is undeniably one of the best Mexican (TexMex) restaurants I've had the pleasure and privilege of dining at. This restaurant has the best chilaquiles I've had in my life. I always order them when I see them in a restaurant and MartAnne's is known for them. Not only are they tasty, but they have a ton of different ways to order them and the portions are HUGE! The staff was nice and the service was great. It's a small place and you may have to wait for a table, but it's worth it. read more

This place was busy when we came in on a weekday at 9am. The wait was said to be about 25 minutes, but turned out to be only 10-15 min. The walls are covered in cool artwork by the same person and really gave this place a special vibe. The tamale special was delicious and a lot of food. The enchilada covered in green sauce was also good. You can swamp out all your success for fresh fruit. This is a great place for breakfast or brunch with larger portions, so come hungry! read more

I've been to Flagstaff plenty of times and don't understand how I have never been here. This was the first time I decided to try it and I will say, it is worth the stop. The food is on point. From the seasoning, the look, the smell, and how fresh it all is. I was very impressed with it. Servers were friendly and had some great recommendations when asked. I honestly want to say I must return and try something different from their menu every time. This place really stands out with the unique names that they give each dish also. Revisiting old reviews and I'm confused that I didn't rate it 5 stars. This is quite possibly the best restaurant in Flagstaff--it's at least the most super local. And a year after that previous review, I'm a big fan of the posole+hash brown combo. The posole is also excellent with a delightful amount of spice and overall green chile flavor. Despite them being "the house that chilaquiles built," I found the chilaquiles to not really have enough sauce, though the chips and pork were great. read more

I ordered the suggested green chile pork burrito- called the Remirez- to go. I asked about any special salsas as someone's review mentioned they had a great salsa bar. I was told they only had 1 salsa. I thought the flavor was pretty bland. The portion was huge but overall, I was disappointed. I decided to try MartAnnes due to the great reviews but I'm thinking that the Mexican food in California is much more flavorful. read more

This was a great find for breakfast. There was a 30 min wait when we came in but it was worth the wait. I got the Breakfast chilaquiles (no eggs):This one was amazing!! Very flavorful and yummy.. I would give it a 5 stars. Hubby had enchiladas heuvos and he loved them too.. The fresh orange juice was very good.. As far as I know this is the best deal in Flagstaff you can find. The cafe is surprising roomy and lends itself to be a good work environment. I find it easy and productive to work there. I like to check out the books/games/movies around the main store when I feel I need a break. The staff really make the space. I've only had positive interactions with all the workers. They are very genuine people who I love to talk to. I feel very welcomed whenever I come in.

Horrible attitude!! As a 30 year resident of Flagstaff I'm one of the few that has been here longer than MartAnne's. It used to be a tiny little breakfast cafe tucked into downtown known for it's great food and friendly owner. A few years back it moved to a large visible location and changed ownership. Bad move. Recently I went with a friend and was shown to a table. It was late morning and the place wasn't crowded. After ordering drinks from our waiter another person came over and told us that this table was normally used for larger parties. Ok, we didn't ask for this table, it was where they sat us. Then she rudely told us that we would have to move if a large party came in. After thinking about it for a minute we just decided to go somewhere else. My friend headed for the car and I stopped to let the waiter know. He was very friendly and apologized. No worries on our part, there are plenty of other quiet places to grab a bite. Then, out of nowhere a lady, apparently the new owner, walked up and said that she hadn't heard our conversation, didn't care what we were talking about and I could just get the (expletive) out of there!!! Whoa!!! My conversation with the waiter was friendly and I understood their need to keep the table free, just not the rudeness with which they told us. No worries, we were going to go somewhere else that day and wouldn't have thought of it again. I usually only visited MartAnne's a few times a year but my friend used to go there at least weekly. Neither of us will go back. They do have a reputation for being an old school, local business but now it is just another pretentious Flagstaff business that thinks they are cool because they only accept cash and have local art on the walls. Whoop de doo. As far as the food goes it is decent but there are plenty of local places in town that are much better and certainly more concerned with their customers, regardless of their success. read more

Hands down worst service I've experienced in Flagstaff ever. Our server was Julien and he was rude from the moment we sat down. Aside from rushing us to order our entree before we even got our drinks or appetizer, he made it clear that he was the owner's son and was not going to allow us to ask questions about the menu or make any requests to our food, such as allowing us to get sauces on the side, substituting a green sauce for a red sauce or getting corn tortillas instead of flower tortillas. I understand restaurants don't want to modify their menu items sometimes, but he didn't have to be rude about it. So we asked for a couple minutes to decide on another item, and from that moment he ignored our table numerous times. He intentionally didn't bring us the drinks we ordered, didn't give us silverware when the food arrived and when the food was gone, we sat with empty plates in front of us for another hour until we left. When we finally got our second round of drinks, we asked him to take our empty glasses and he said "no, I will get those later." We later had to ask for our check from the other servers who then told him we were ready to pay our tab and leave, but of course he intentionally delayed getting us our check. When he gave us our check, he didn't ask how our food or experience was (which was of course horrible) and he left our dirty plates in front of us until we left. I would easily say this was a horrible experience and was all created by an entitled lazy family member who owns this restaurant. On top of that, the food was sub-par and the drinks were terrible. And I'm pissed off at my mom and friend for recommending this dump, which is what I did for 2 days after this place's food. read more

The art in this place is RACIST. The food is absolutely AMAZING! HOWEVER these paintings are offensive, weird and the messaging it portrays even if that wasn't the intent is PROBLEMATIC. The only living people in the paintings are white . Cultural points aside the only people of color in this whole restaurant's art are DEAD. As a black woman that's hella off putting!They have indigenous people as skeletons. The only black woman is some weird floating angel head! They have a multi armed Hindu god with white eyes and blonde hair !? I don't care if it's supposed to be Barbie it's cultural appropriation in art. Using Barbie as your cover up! Like wth symbolism is this white woman artist Emma Gardner trying to portray? I get the day of the dead vibes y'all are going for but then I ask if the owner is Mexican or black or what? And they say Hispanic ! The artist is a white woman! This is all not ok y'all. The community around you is majorly white and then following that is indigenous people . The restaurant should be more considerate of the community it is serving. And the symbolism being portrayed in their art. This is a regular spot for me and the food has always been fantastic! The portions are more than enough for what you pay and the atmosphere is very bright and artistic with an enthusiastic wait staff. The dining area during peak times gets crowded to the point of having to suck it in and scoot around tables at times and it can take a long time to get served during these times. I also do wish that the chips and salsa were complimentary starters like most other Mexican food places. I've only had one somewhat bad experience here. I had gone in around 2ish to take advantage of their Taco Tuesday deals. The place was pretty dead, maybe 2 or 3 other tables occupied, and the waitress had a somewhat condescending tone of voice when explaining that certain Taco Tuesday options weren't available until after 3PM even though their menu states 2PM-9PM. She didn't check on us hardly at all during our meal and she didn't bring our drinks out until we were almost finished with our meal and had to retake our drink order at that point because she couldn't remember what we had even asked for. TERRIBLE!!!!! First of all...they only take cash or check (who even takes checks anymore??!!) we didn't have enough cash, so we had to leave, go to an ATM and then come back and pay. I didn't even want to come back and pay since the food was so horrible. I ordered some stupid egg and chorizo dish with tortilla chips in it. When I got my meal, it looked like 15 different foods had thrown up all at once onto my plate. I was so overwhelmed that I pretty much lost my appetite. The chorizo and eggs had no eggs really. Just heavy, huge chunks of the greasiest chorizo I'd ever seen. The bottom of my plate was a swimming pool of red grease (which ran into the other 14 items that were on my plate). The tortilla chips mixed in were now like soggy rags. The bland hash browns were now greasy and soggy. I would rather die of starvation then be forced to eat here again. OH!!!!! And they finish their dishes in the MICROWAVE before serving them. What a disgrace!!!!!! read more

Never eating here again. We waited in line and had already decided on our food to make it easier and quicker. After a while we asked for a drink while we waited. NO drinks allowed not even a glass of water while you waited. Then after waiting am extra 20 minutes then they had said we were seated, I was hit with every persons bag, arm, young child, etc. The wait staff would constantly walk by and hit me in the back. We ordered right away - an HOUR later we have our food by some other waitress we hadn't seen (never had the same server twice!) The food was tasteless. I ate maybe a quarter of it and left the rest. God forbid you want to take any home you simply get a tiny paper plate and a piece of tin foil. I will NEVER go back, food was not worth the wait and the staff was non-existent. I don't know how they expect a tip whatsoever. read more

Had a great breakfast at MartAnne's café, I will say that you shouldn't attack their specialty items if you are on a diet! I ate until I thought I might burst and barely made a dent in my Chilaquilles. Seriously, after eating to my hearts content...I passed them on to my wife and she could hardly dent the plate. If I hadn't been on a long road trip, I definitely would have taken this home and eaten it for a week! They are awesome! We were seated in the section where the owner was working and she was super friendly and helpful with the menu. Martanne's currently reigns as the best breakfast spot in flag! everytime i'm in town, i always stop in for some great high quality mexican breakfast. i tried dinner last year for the first time and really enjoyed it. service is always great even when it's slammed. there's always a wait on the weekends but during the week its really easy to get a table. this place has always been a little diner right off 66. i think they have an adorable vibe going on here. i love the feminine vibe and the staff are always super interesting and cute too. ate here tonight and patrick took care of us. it was a nice experience to say the least. read more

Martan's has terribly rude servers. One tried to invite himself to SIT AT MY TABLE (i don't know who he was). I told the other server I left her five dollars on the table, and the original guy who was harassing us STOLE HER TIP! It really hurts that people get to love this restaurant but but others are discriminated against. My party was dressed nicely as well, since it was a lunch to celebrate college graduation. I am glad this restaurant works so well for so many people, but it should be known that you may randomly be harassed at your table, like I was, by some very aggressive (or hungover?) servers. read more

Came into MartAnnes for breakfast before going to work, and am completely satisfied! I had the green chilaquiles. They have a sign that reads "MartAnnes the house that chilaquiles built" and that could not be more true! It's corn chips, scrambled with eggs, green onions, and topped with your choice of red, green, or xmas (whice is both red and green sauce), served with rice, beans, hash browns, and a tortilla. You can also add their delicious house made green chili pork or chorizo to the chilaquiles! I love Martannes and cannot recommend it enough! The wait is usually pretty long, both to be seated, and to receive your food, but it is definately worth the wait! The best breakfast place in town, hands-down! I've tried most things on the menu and have never been disappointed. My husband and I usually wind up sharing because the portions are so big. My only complaint would be that they only take cash, no credit/debit cards, which isn't always convenient. Otherwise, this is our go-to place for a weekend breakfast out. read more

Probably the one thing I miss most about Flagstaff besides my friends and family. All of their menu items I've tried are delicious. The owners are absolute dolls. The interior is delightful...make sure to check out the bathroom. There is most always a wait, and is well worth it. And it is pretty cheap for the portion size and how awesome it is. I apologized to the people accidentally cut in front of but the older lady was still rude and gave me a dirty look. I ordered the chorizo and eggs and it was wonderful. Topped it with their homemade salsa. Very flavorful. Friendly service. Comfortable inside when it's hot outside. I politely decline chips / tortillas because I'm low carb and gluten free (even tho my plate had beans and rice, I had just ridden 65 mi on my bike! ). Best mexican food in Flag for a long time. Do not come here if you are looking for la Fonda or Salsa Brava style food. The ratio of potatoes to eggs was not proportional. It had wayyyyy too much potatoes. It's hard to eat a breakfast burrito with too much potatoes . He said the flavor was there and the tortilla was nice but unfortunately too much potato. The hot sauce was not needed. Reminded us of some type of Taco Bell sauce. Overall experience was great. It has great vibes! I would come again and do breakfast and try their dinner service in the future.

I had the open face turkey sandwich with gravy, mashed potatoes, and veg--I had them the hold the cranberry sauce since I am not a fan of that sauce. My friend had a huge plate of onion rings. The only down side was that the turkey breast was not the chunk of turkey I was expecting, just a few thin slices of deli turkey breast (like you would have in a sandwich) and the gravy was too salty. The parking is in the back of the restaurant. Fyi--the pavement between the car park and the front door is broken and uneven and was a challenge for my friend and her walker, so the mobility impaired may find it difficult to navigate.

They're were only 3 other tables besides us & yet the service slow. The you g lady waiting on us seemed quiet or tired or like she didn't want to be there. She didn't mention when she seated us that the waffle maker was broken or that certain items weren't available...until we tried to order them. When we got our food, literally all of it was cold. I ordered oatmeal which came as a large bowl w/ plastic to go containers of nuts, raisins, & brown sugar & a small container of milk. It tastes fine, but it was very off-putting to eat cold/almost hard oatmeal. My friend got 3 eggs, toast, & spuds which were like thinly sliced potatoes. He, also, said his food was cold & felt that (unlike my huge portion of cold oatmeal) the portion was small. I didn't bother taking pics. I didn't bother trying to send things back or speak to anyone in charge because it was such slow service to begin with. This place is cute inside. It has potential, but the food & service were a miss. Skip it.

She asked the chef to throw some shrimp on the grill with a little butter and lemon juice, but no salt or pepper on them. Then laid them on a bed of buttered noodles and covered it in Parmesan cheese. I had the beef stroganoff. Can I just say it was delicious! I would definitely order it again. Way to go Northern Pines for taking care of customers with food sensitivities and a sore mouth!

The place has a cute lunchbox theme complete with old metal lunchboxes placed around. The guy at the counter was super kind and was bussing tables/ refilling drinks when things got slow. For $10.50 (!) I had 1/2 of the perky turkey sandwich and a cup of their white chicken chili. The sandwich was simple and perfect with good flavors. The soup was pretty amazing and piping hot! This will definitely be a place that I hit again and again!
