We had such a great experience! The food was fantastic we ordered the fish and chips and the chicken sandwich, and both were delicious. What really stood out, though, was our server, Luis. Great food is important, but great service is what turns a meal into an exceptional dining experience, and he delivered both. My wife wanted seafood. We were eyeing another location but they didn't open until 11:00 AM and she was getting hangry. My kids were also whining about wanting French toast and breakfast items. Where was I going to find the best of both? We searched Yelp and stumbled on Martiniz Fresko Kitchen. A Quick look at the menu showed Sunday brunch along with my wife's favorite fish, mahi mahi (with ahi as a very close second). My wife being proactive, called ahead of time to make reservations but they said it wasn't too busy and to walk right in. When we arrived, however, there was a table reserved for two adults and two children, complete with kids menu, utensils, and even a flower. The place was very clean, almost as if they opened their doors yesterday. My daughter zeroed in on the French toast and my son chirped the same sentiment. I had a hard time deciding between the fish tacos, jambalaya, and the grilled mahi but ultimately settled on the jambalaya. My wife opted for until grilled mahi mahi served on white rice and grilled vegetables. I then added a blood orange mimosa and the ahi poke tostada. The ahi poke tostadas came out first. The poke was nicely seasoned and dressed with micro greens with a drizzle of spicy ahi sauce. I wanted more poke. The French toast was buttery and sweet, especially with the accoutrements of salted butter and maple syrup. Our kids devoured this dish. There was a generous portion of mahi mahi. Most places overcook their fish but theirs was fork tender and succulent. The grilled vegetables were nicely charred and paired nicely with the sweet taste of mahi. This is probably the best fish we tasted outside of Hawaii. The jambalaya had pearls of seafood (fish, shrimp) with spicy andouille sausage. It was my girlfriend and my first time here. We came for brunch after a hike in the area. This is a hidden gem. Our server was friendly and attentive, always making sure we were doing well and keeping our water cups full. There is plenty of seating, can accommodate big parties. It is very clean and spacious. The menu has so man choices to choose from. Our food was delicious. I have never had an egg white omelet (Caprese Omelet) and it didn't disappoint. Second time here and I felt compelled to leave another review! The first time I came was for brunch, and this time I decided to check out dinner--and wow, it did not disappoint. The food here is clearly made with so much love and attention. Every plate comes out beautifully presented, and the portions are generous. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they're serving. We ordered the shrimp and garlic pasta and the shrimp scampi. The shrimp were huge and perfectly cooked with a nice bite--super fresh and flavorful. We also tried the chicken marsala and wow! The chicken was incredibly tender and the marsala wine sauce was rich, savory, and absolutely delicious. The food here definitely feels elevated--almost like a fine dining experience without the stuffy atmosphere. The service was also excellent. This yummy little hole in the wall storefront is right next to Floors and Decor and you don't want to miss it! First off, bright open space, greeted instantly walking in and told to pick our spot. They needed some salt but other than that real decent, and the tartar was delicious. Grilled Fish Tacos - these tacos were beast size, so juicy and mouthwatering. Some decent sized tomatoes and cabbage inside , very little thin red onion to not overpower and some crumble cheese. I would probably suggest a different side to go with though, the waffle fries are not ideal. Jambalaya - this was my husbands meal. He said it was okay but could have used some Cajun seasoning/spice and been more of a drier dish. It was a wet enough rice plate to make him think it was more like a risotto. The shrimps made are definitely jumbo so no skimping there. Shrimp Scampi - very buttery (but not swimming) with those XXXL Jumbo shrimps. Had a good mixture of veggies inside, and some thick shavings of Parmesan cheese. The bread was ammmmaaazing. I can't remember if it is offered as an appetizer but if not they should. So good. Overall, you will get your moneys worth in food from this place. They don't forget you at all, the woman came by several times to check if we needed refills and liked our food - also, a man that I am assuming was their chef also came out several times to check on if the food was to our liking. Everything looked amazing. I settled on the beef empanadas and the taco combo. Everything was beautifully presented, and it tasted immaculate. The two-taco combo sounded amazing. Usually, it's just two shrimp or two steak, but they were kind enough to accommodate my 1 shrimp, 1 steak request. I got black beans and rice with them, and it was sooo tasty. I usually want more than two tacos, but I was so full and satisfied. The flaky empanadas were hearty, and the creamy orange sauce that accompanied them was perfection. Holy cow. So yummy and filling. - Food is good, - Water was terrible (one of the worst waters that tasted chemically), and - One of the worst violations of SB 478 and SB 1524 that went into total effect on July 1, 2025. *ASK FOR YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE PAYING TO AVOID VIOLATING HIDDEN FEES UNDER SB 478 AND SB 1524 I am giving this place 1/5 stars for what I perceived below as deceptive billing and violations of SB 478 and SB 1524. For quick summary, this is the no hidden junk fees at restaurants and prices must be transparent with the MAXIMUM price listed (so a restaurant can then discount if paid by cash): (1) The laws require clear posting of maximum price on menus, which none of the menus have to date. (2) This place also tries to bypass the law by saying they are offering a "cash discount," but their implementation is in violation as instead of "discounting" the items on the bill, they add onto the bill the hidden 4% fee without itemizing them (as shown in my receipt). This violates the maximum listed price that SB 478 and SB 1524 was implemented for and went into effect on July 1, 2025. (3) For the auto tip button if paid by credit card, the 4% hidden fee is then added onto the tax amount to inflate the total amount for the auto tips (i.e., $100 bill would include the Norco 8.75% sales tax and the hidden 4%, meaning it is $112.75 when a person adds the auto tip button instead of $100 like all other restaurants. (4) If they claim the hidden 4% is a credit card service fee, then that is higher than the normal 3% credit card service fee charge and that amount is added onto the total bill for the auto tip buttons, so they are profiting on the credit card service fee (which is another violation of other statutes). (5) The current and past menus do not disclose the additional charge (violates SB 478 and SB 1524). (6) For me, the server brought a credit card table reader to the table and did not disclose the option to pay by cash for the "discount." The server just put the reader in front of me when I took out the wallet... which heavily implies the culture of doing this operation that violates SB 478 and SB 1524. (7) When I challenged this, the head waiter came to the table and said they are legally allowed to charge this as they have a sign up in front of the restaurant for a sit-down restaurant, which SB 478 and SB 1524 clearly state that these charges must be next to the price items (meaning that they have to be on the menu itself and not a small sign at the front of the restaurant) and they must offer a discount rather than tack on the bill with hidden fees. To conclude, I may be back in a few months to see if they fix these deceptive issues and the terrible water (likely a bad water filter). I'll be open minded to change my review if they admit wrongdoing and changed their ways. read more
