My husband and I were in town visiting family and looking for a restaurant that have vegan options. From the moment that we walked in the ambience has a nice café feeling, nice music and smiling staff. Eddie was our waiter and gave us great suggestions in regards to the vegan omelette. My husband and I shared and I'm with with mushroom and spinach, hashbrowns, and pancakes, and we did everything besides like the plate. Really really good food. After he ate the manager and the waiter, both came back to ensure that we enjoyed our meal and invited us to come back. We will absolutely be back. Food was ok. But I'm taking away stars for the following reasons: -2 stars - Normally I wouldn't expect very much in the way of chilaquiles from a cafe. But it was actually pretty good. However it completely fell apart when I added on a meat for a higher price. Instead of getting pork (chili verde) I got 100% fat. When I brought it to someones attention she looked at me like I was crazy. Yes, animals have fat. Animal meat contains fat. But you know what else animal meat contains? MEAT!!!! See attached image. Paying an extra 3 bucks for that was ridiculous! Not a single shred of meat. -1 star - Pettiness. I had a tea with my meal. I figured if I could at least walk away with a tea to go, I'd call the $3 fat even. She brings me a tea to go that was only 1/4 filled and tells me to put the rest of my tea with it. Except I planed to finish that AND get a tea to go. Besides when I added my current tea the cup, it was only 3/4 filled. What kind of pathetic pettiness is that? Seriously? So no, we're not even. We're frequently heading down the 91 and we're always on the lookout for breakfast spots to eat at but this isn't it and we'll never be back. So green River Cafe . Is reasonably new. But it builds on and lives in a space that has operated since the 1950's for years this was a be on the only stop between orange county and Colton . The large neon sign stood out at night. That ended in the 1980's with conversation to CoCo's and new developments. Then with CoCo's demise came Brandon's followed by route 91 roadhouse. Thru it all it cont to provide a place to stop relax , enjoy a good meal or just coffee and dessert. The menu today is varied with a number of options. I was there for lunch so salads , sandwiches. All day breakfast is offered. In the evening there is a full bar. Service is good . Friendly the atmosphere gives clues to its history if you know what to look for. A good stop over . First time here. The Green River cafe overlooks the 91 freeway from a small hilltop on the West-most outskirts of Corona and the Prado Dam. Plenty of parking and easy access, as it is just beyond the freeway offramp. They have been open about 5 months and were attracting some decent reviews with appealing photos. It was time to try it. The multi-page menu features classic roadside diner food. This includes a predictable list of breakfast items, which was exactly why we had come. Our choices that day included a breakfast pork chop meal and a skillet scramble. The pork chops were jaw dropping at first sight. Two center-cut, 1" thick chops that were so huge, they nearly covered the plate. You had to lift them up to find the eggs and potatoes hidden beneath. While this cut tends to be quite lean, the chef had cooked them nicely, leaving them as juicy as possible. Mr. B chose a biscuit and gravy for his side. The biscuit was unremarkable but the creamy, sausage gravy was pretty good. My choice was the Meat Lovers Skillet, which combined eggs, sausage, ham, and bacon topped with a cheese blend. It turned out nicely, very flavorful. I requested sliced tomatoes as my side, probably not the smartest of choices since tomatoes are not yet in season. Tasteless, but not their fault. The sole problem lay with the potatoes. Both of us had requested hash browns, extra crispy. Our first bite of hash browns tasted funny. Two more bites and it was not hard to figure out they had been crisped up on a poorly cleaned griddle with residual stale oil, a pet peeve of mine. Fortunately, this only affected the potatoes, not the rest of our food. We called the server's attention to this, after she asked how everything was, and she promised to look into it with the chef. Sadly, this ended up to be an empty promise as she never returned to apologize or assure us of their conversation, and never offered a replacement or even offer a minor adjustment to the bill. IMHO, that is just the proper thing to do, especially if you wish a new customer to return. Would I return? Maybe. But only after they improve their best practices for griddle cleaning first. Finding a note in Yelp from their manager would be a good start? read more

3.5 stars This is an above average diner with excellent customer service. Nestled in the green hills off of 91, this place made a nice brunch escape. The inside was warm and inviting. We sat at a booth towards the back. I loved their extensive menu options. After perusing, I went with the Denver omelet, which came with two sides. I picked pancakes and fruit. The omelet was nice and savory. I did wish it wasn't covered with so much cheese, but that's a personal preference. The pancakes looked delicious. For me, it was too thin and soft. I couldn't pick it up with a fork. Sadly, it just fell apart. The flavor was great, but I'm just big on texture. The fruit was fresh. Oh and the coffee was on the weak diluted side. The apple pie was so delicious! Paired with black coffee was spot on for an afternoon treat. The service was awesome, got to meet the owners and their family who help run the restaurant. Very kind and hospitable people. I was able to get some work done on my laptop in a comfortable booth as I enjoyed the pie and coffee. Oggi was very attentive to us, and as it was a late business lunch, he thoughtfully seated us in a room secluded from the main dining area. The BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger was delicious. Got the steak fries well done, which was perfect. I love to dip my fries in mayo and was pleasantly surprised at how great their mayo was. Oggi told me the cook makes it (and most of the menu) in house - you can taste the difference!! My colleague got the carne asada nachos which were also a hit. Cleaning seems to be an issue for this restaurant. I was there yesterday and ordered their spicy poblano omelette. 3 bites in and I chewed on something crunchy and I'm glad I spit it out because it was STEEL WOOL. The kind they use to scrub pans with. God knows if I swallowed any small amounts or broken off pieces before I got to the larger piece. This could have been an incredibly expensive hospital trip or even death. The manager had the dish remade but didn't comp the meal and the guy who brought us our check just said they were sorry for the inconvenience. I was just kind of in shock to be honest so I didn't make a bigger deal out of it, but in retrospect I'm posting because I just want to make sure others don't accidentally ingest something like this and get seriously hurt. Steel wool can tear up your insides. I did end up throwing up after, but I don't know if I ingested parts of the steel wool and I'm still waiting it out for a few more days to be sure that I'm absolutely ok The photos I attached are of the steel wool that I picked apart to see what it was. The gentleman that took my order was very kind and courteous. 15 minutes later, my order is ready to pick up. The restaurant is conveniently located right off the 91 fwy. Inside was clean and organized. I was greeted right away by the staff. Lots of smiles! Got the shredded beef and was impressed the beef was perfectly cooked. It wasn't jerky like others we've had, instead moist and tender. Tortilla shell was not greasy and had the right crispness. Light cheese and lettuce to top, just enough, not smothered like others. Stopped in on our way home from LA. Nice little hidden gem off the freeway. It's tucked back behind the gas station next to Starbucks we almost missed it but glad we turned around and pulled in. Service was friendly and fairly quick. We were the only ones dining at the time however she wasn't overly attentive and she also didn't disappear she was a good server. Upon sitting we did notice an off putting smell that should be addressed but didn't ruin the experience by any means. The food was delicious. The buffalo chicken wrap was flavorful, not too much sauce or dressing so it wasn't messy. The "skinny fries" were a bit of a let down, there weren't many and what was there were basically nubs. I think in general the portion sizes for the sides was on the small side on the fries my son had steak fries and there weren't many of those either. The onion rings were a good portion and the flavor and crunch were great! The 2 burgers at the table were devoured so I can only assume they were acceptable and delicious. I was working around this area off Green River and the 91fwy and I saw the Green River Cafe. I thought I would try it out... and I have to say that the food was delicious. I highly recommend this place when you are in the area. I met the owner and she was so nice. She even shared with me that they have a separate private room for people to host an even up to 75 people. If you are planing a company meeting or having an event this would be the place. The menu has a large variety of different things. I can go on for ever.... but I leave it up for you to come try it.
