I've stopped by twice now. It's a cute little place with excellent service. The first time i went I tried the sampler with pierogies, chicken paprikash and stuffed cabbage. The stuffed cabbage and pierogis were good. I wasn't a fan of the paprikash because it was made with chicken strips and not actual pieces of whole chicken. The sauce was not authentic either. I probably would have only given a 4 star, but, I did go back again. The second time my family and I went for the Saturday prime rib. That was excellent! The prime rib was cooked to perfection with a flavorful crust and delicious au jus. I would for sure go back for that. The prices are good, our server was wonderful and checked in often. read more

I spent the morning recently in Vermillion and stopped in to Martino's for lunch. They have got a fantastic salad bar. One of the things I love about it is that not only is everything fresh, but it's not over the top. It has all your basics along with Soup of the day. The service is good and the restaurant was clean. Looking after their menu, they have a nice dinner options for later. I would definitely come back and give everything else a try. read more

Stopped for a mid morning Saturday breakfast. Sat at the bar: Two eggs, three pork sausage links, hash browns, two thick slices wheat bread toast and half order of biscuits n gravy. Bottomless cup of flavorful joe. All under $12! Owner came out and checked on the meal and talked a bit... nice guy he was! All hot and delicious ! Would i return? The Mothers Day buffet was absolutely terrible. Dry chicken, cold prime rib, very few selections, not even a salad.

Our experience was not the best. food was very mid and really atrocious chicken paprikash. I've never had chicken paprikash that literally had no paprika in it!! I Think someone needs to go back and revisit their recipe. read more

Our food was awful but the waitress was worse. I didn't like my food. If the waitress had ever stopped by our table, I could have ordered something else. She finally visited when it was time for the check. She became ENRAGED when I quietly declined a takeout box for the order I took ONE BITE OF. I simply said I didn't care for the food and she became VERBALLY ABUSIVE. I declined to leave a tip after her embarrassing outburst. I just wanted to pay the check and leave but instead, she chose to create a scene. It was embarrassing. It was the first time I was ever there and it will definitely be the last. Took my wife there for our Friday night dinner. First time dining there and absolutely no regrets. My wife had the steak and I had the Friday special Lake Erie perch, clam chowder and salad. Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic and friendly. Only complaint was that salad, can't handle the lettuce they use. This is a great place to take your family out to dinner, very clean, very good food and friendly service. I highly recommend this restaurant and for what we ordered the price was very reasonable, definitely will be going back even with the half hour drive. read more

Tried Martino's once again - hoping this experience would be better after yet another manager took over. Unfortunately, still a mediocre lunch @ best. The wait staff was friendly and prompt! ... the problem always seem to be the food. It's just not that good. I got breakfast, and my scrambled eggs were browned (overdone). The pancakes looked huge and delicious, but they were unfortunately dry and doughy. It's hard to screw up breakfast, but they do. I like the restaurant itself, but I think this is my last visit. My husband and I stopped here while out of town not too long ago. The food was hit and miss. My husband totally didn't enjoy his meal however mine was okay but nothing to write home about. We started with the cheese sticks for appetizer. They were okay, much like the cheese sticks you get at most places. I ordered the reuben sandwich with fries and coleslaw. There was plenty of meat, and just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The bread was perfectly toasted. Fries were okay and the coleslaw was fresh. My husband ordered the fish and shrimp dinner. According to him, the pieces of fish were small and didn't have any flavor. The shrimp had too much breading and tasted like it was from frozen. The portion size did not match up with the price. Went there after it changed ownership. The service was extremely poor (understaffed), and we waited almost 20 minutes for a waitress. When the order arrived, it was Luke warm. Asked for the check when it arrived, the prices were higher than what was on the menu. When we asked why we were told all the prices had gone up. Why we weren't told that is unacceptable. They are truly an international restaurant and show it by adding a Thailand themed dish. They are also flexible on request. I ordered a chef salad and a separate chicken breast that I topped the salad with. The food has good flavor. The restaurant is roomy and feels welcoming. I ordered a carry out order of a perch dinner and medium prime rib - medium rare. I also asked for a side salad which I paid extra. When I picked up my order I even asked if my salad was in the bag. I was assured it was. I got home and no salad. My prime rib was well done. Worst meal ever. I gave the dog have the prime rib. I called about the salad. I asked for a credit on my card. I was told they couldn't do a credit but would mail me the refund. They never even asked for my address. read more

Gave it another try after a previous horrible experience. If anything, it was worse. The food was just as greasy, the service just as slow and indifferent, but the prices had managed to go up. The carpets were still dirty and the handles on the front door don't even match. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. When Jim owned it, we had nothing but good meals. If you're in this area, Martinos is a fine option for dinner. My family has tried takeout a few times from here during the pandemic, mostly because they have a very convenient drive-up window to pick up your to-go orders. It's an international cafe of fare from around the world, so the menu is quite literally 10 pages. The first time we ordered, we were very hesitant, because how could a place be good at so many types of food? Well, they don't disappoint. The chicken paprikash is the best I've had in the area to the point I've ordered it again. I've never been inside, but I'm so happy with how quick and reliable they are with that drive thru pick-up window. Always friendly service and my fam is always happy with dinner. Martino's Is a Vermilion institution and if you want a great breakfast or home cooked meal, I highly recommend it. The decor is simple and homey, the prices reasonable, and the service friendly and familiar. Their grits are on point, and the breakfast croissant with American cheese (melty and not skimpy) and bacon (generous!) is my staple on Sunday mornings. Up until this week my husband and I went here at least once a week for their fried chicken, we loved it. Last night we went in, sat down at the bar, and our favorite sweetheart server handed us the new menus. The prices had gone up, of course, which is fine, food prices have gone up everywhere. Our server came to get our order and apologetically told us that instead of 3 pieces of chicken, they now serve 2. So raise the prices by $2, plus cut the portion?! I felt so bad for our server, she felt terrible and tried to talk to the kitchen manager but he was adamant. I'm sorry, but $15.95 for 2 pieces of chicken is outrageous. Have always had a wonderful meal here at Martinos. The menu is big with many options. I will be honest, that I most often order fish. Perch, walleye, cod. I have dined with a bunch of people and small parties. Everyone seems happy. Patty melt, burgers, chicken paprikash, soups have been ordered. Me & my mom where discussing this the other day because her & dad recently visited. We both feel the service is hit or miss if you are going for breakfast. Major complaint is coffee. If you are going out for breakfast, it's nice if the waitresses check frequently if you need coffee. At "Chris' Restaurant", "The Beachcliff Diner", and "The Nest"... waitresses are constantly walking around with coffee and making sure there are no issues. At Martinos, it requires effort on your part to find someone willing to give you coffee. It isn't always this way but it has happened enough that Martinos is our last choice for breakfast. On a positive note, I really love their menu and feel prices are fair. read more

My family was originally planning to go to Susie's for breakfast on our way back to Cleveland from Marblehead. However, the wait was well over 45 minutes so we went to Martinos instead. They were able to sit us quickly and the staff was all kind and helpful. The reason for the low rating though is because of the food. Do NOT get the breakfast here. The French toast was mediocre at best and tasted like it wasn't completely fresh. My mother's pancakes tasted like baking soda and she couldn't even eat half. It was a shame, since the service was so wonderful. We probably won't be coming back since Vermillion is so far away from Cleveland and there are a plethora of other restaurants to choose from. However, I would like to try the lunch menu, given the good reviews. read more

This is our "Go To" place when we don't know for sure where to go out and eat. Been there many times and pretty much always enjoy what we have. The perch is very good, gyros, spaghetti and soups all good. Sunday brunch is great and the chef that makes the omelettes to order is the best! read more
