We travelled down from the High Desert on a recommendation to Martin's Jewelry and met with Alex to discuss adding an anniversary band to my wedding and engagement ring. As Midwest transplants we did not have easy access to our tried and trusted professionals in the jewelry business and were looking to establish a new contact. I had wanted to stack rings for many years and after meeting with Alex, it was a no-brainer to work with him and utilize his knowledge base and decades of experience to create the perfect addition to my set. I briefly chatted with him ahead of time and he directed me to his website to gather ideas. I found a few rings that appealed to me and sent the images to Alex. When we arrived for our appointment we talked about my preferences and he had so many samples for me to try on and see how they worked with my current rings. It was actually Alex who found THE ring. We further discussed options on which metal would work best and the differences and benefits to lab-grown stones. I brought in a ring to get resized today at 3:30 pm. It is a Tiffany's ring but I dread the drive to Century City from Manhattan Beach area. I decided to go local instead. I had seen this place over the years and decided it was legit. I was more than willing to throw down several hundred dollars to get it just right. Time is money. My mistake was that I went right after work. See I am a commercial/heavy industrial electrician and a high voltage cable splicer. My work is a challenge but i love it and am rewarded well. After waiting for two minutes for some kind of recognition to let me get into the store to start the resizing a man comes out, looks at me, explains that he is on a long distance phone call appointment and that he can not help me now and I will have to make an appointment. OK cool. When can i come back. Not today he replies. Call me and make an appointment for Monday. I laugh since they close at 6 (as the sign says). I guess a 2.5 hour long distance phone call was the best bullshit he could come up with. And the fact that this same guy was smoking outside about thirty feet away when i first rang the bell and said nothing means he had figured out i was a waste of time. I know the deal. I have my college degree and actually quit law school to become an electrician and a lot of ignorant people look at me like i am a modern day carnival worker. Good for them. I'll wipe my tears with my money. Perspective. I have spent considerable money at Tiffany's over the years. Considerable. There is something special about that store. Today i realized what that something is. That special something is how they treat all customers. I've gone in to Tiffany's wearing the same dusty work Carhart construction clothes and White's boots and been treated like gold. No bullshit. No excuse. I want this or that and here is my money please wrap it in Tiffany's blue wrapping paper, and i love you all. So I was not used to being treated like a hungry junk yard dog at a local jeweler. Oh well. I will return to Tiffany's and smile all day long as i crazy overpay for their jewelry. They can charge me whatever they want to because they know how to treat every customer the same. The resize will be free there and the customer service is stuff of legends. Martin Jewelry is a local scub. Think i am full of shit or I am being a bitch then contact me. The merchandise is nice but I question the integrity of the jeweler based on my experience. In the course of one transaction, the jeweler managed to "mis-measure" and thus misrepresent the length of chain I was purchasing, (which had to be a specific size). Then. when I brought it back to be corrected, he fixed the chain yet short changed me when I paid cash for the additional charge he requested. Finally, when I went to pay my credit card bill, I found he had over charged the credit card as a result of a "math error". Three "mistakes" in one transaction! Either really bad luck or a lack of honest dealing. I'd like to recommend the place because I thought the jewelry was nice, but you have to be able to trust a jeweler and my experience would make that difficult to do. read more

My experiences there have been quite the opposite. I find this store puts ethics, honesty, and integrity at the very top of their list. The merchandise is beautiful and there is a great variety. Also, when I use my credit card there (or anywhere for that matter) and sign the slip, I can clearly see how much I am being charged before I leave the store. This place is wonderful, Alex really takes his time with you and really knows his stuff. I purchased a ring here for my husband a few years ago after visiting at least a dozen other places. His prices were much better than anywhere else i had gone and his customer service was impeccable and I'm very picky when it comes to customer service. My husband came here to purchase a 10 year anniversary ring for me a few months ago. He left the center stone open so that I could pick it out myself because he wasn't sure what cut i wanted. I was referred to Alex by a family friend who has worked with him for years. Alex has done 5 rings for me and I have loved all of them. He really listens to what I want and is able to take my ideas and put them into the pieces. He has such a great eye for detail and has good advice on what will and will not work. He never pushes to make a sale. He's honest. I always get compliments on the rings he's made. I absolutely trust him. He delivers the pieces when he says he's going to. Over the years I have shopped in downtown LA and at locals shops in Manhattan Beach and his prices are reasonable. I don't like going to downtown LA because it's a trek out of the bubble. I was buzzed into the door to be greeted by the store owner and his wife. It really is a mom and pop shop place! The pieces in the cases are so unique and pretty. Really timeless pieces!! They didn't have a ring in store for me but quickly showed me on a in store computer options they have on their website and had catalogs also available that had exactly what I was looking for. I was so excited because when I have been to other stores and they simply said they didn't have what I was looking for but these store owners really went out of their way to make sure they showed me everything that was available. I found a ring that I loved and bought it on the spot! To top it off I visited their website before going to the store and printed a coupon off so I got a phenomenal price and got more in savings with my coupon.
