Food is always yummy and usually there is a wait. I agree with some of the other reviewers the staff seems overwhelmed and rushed so they do come off as abrupt. If you like chicken salad, pimento cheese and pita chips this is the place for you!! read more

Marti's is simply dynamite. If you love anything between two slices of bread, come check out this amazing menu. While the food is very Southern, the atmosphere and portions are similar to a NY deli--hectic and huge! Half portions are more than enough. Everything is fresh and a superb value. A delight for adventurous pallets (not fans of the meatball footlong at Subway). Do yourself a favor and get a scoop of pimiento cheese. Your bagel chips will be lost without it! Get there early if you want a seat or, better yet, call ahead and take it to go. Either way, you'll be glad you did. read more

THIS IS THE BEST CHICKEN SALAD IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. I'm not kidding. You gotta dip in one of their warm pita chips toasted to perfection, and then while you recover from how happy it makes you to eat them together, you can nibble a strawberry or have a bite of your salad greens in anticipation of MORE. Fantastic chicken salad. I always get the Martha's Salad plate. On a good day, you can get the pita when it's fresh, still warm and chewy. Once it sits awhile, it's too hard and not as good. A little pricey, but worth it every so often. Every time I have lunch here, I feel that I have eaten very healthy that day. Really wish they were open until around 6pm daily so I could stop by and grab dinner to go after work sometimes. read more

I have signed up with Yelp for one reason and one reason only: to tell the world about Marti's pimiento cheese! It's that good. This is not your grandma's sandwich spread, or like anything you buy in the store. It's not made with Velveeta, it's made with real cheddar and cream cheese and it's thick and wonderful. It's the reason i go to Marti's (i'm a vegetarian) for the most part, but i also love her Kitchen Sink salad, which is so huge it could feed 2 people, and it's got a ton of yummy stuff in it. read more

Fantastic lunch. Basically everything is delicious and definitely try those pita chips. Fresh fruit and fresh ingredients. The only downside is that the place is super popular so parking and seating can be an issue. That's a good issue to have. read more

Great spot if you are in the mood for sandwiches, soups, or salads. EVERYTHING is homemade including the bread for the sandwiches. The sandwiches are named after friends and include chicken salad, pimiento cheese, egg salad, ham and cheese and some more exotic sandwiches. They always have gumbo and another "soup of the day". They also have about 6-7 different salads which are very good. I like the "Martha's Salad". The portions are huge! I will often take some of my leftovers home for dinner. There is mint sweet tea which rocks. I like this place because the owner is usually always there and she has a pretty good staff. Friendly place but can be very busy sometimes--I usually go early or later in the day. Cool spot in Athens. read more

Marti's at Midday is absolutely amazing! I eat there at least once a week & have gotten everyone at my work loving it too!! The prices are great for the amount of food that you get. You can easily make 2 meals out of a whole sandwich and I can make 2 meals out a half sandwich for only 5.50! The comment about Marti' having a 10 dollar minimum for credit cards is not true. . . They prefer if you spend 10 or more to run a credit card, but I have never had an issue when spending 6-8 dollars. Everyone must try Marti's~ the only thing I don't like is that they aren't open on Sat and Sun and I will get to craving it :( read more

Ever since I moved to Athens, I've heard people rant and rave about Marti's. I finally decided to try it, and now I understand what all the fuss was about. It's great, fresh food! I had The Paige and ordered it to-go. Even the food presentation in the to-go box was beautiful. A delicious tuna melt served with tasty homemade pita chips with a side of fresh fruit. I think the food is more like 3-4 stars. But the service is 0 stars. It's negative stars. They don't want you in there! I went to Marti's at Midday for the first time in years recently. It wasn't very busy -- a group of 3 walked in in front of me and there were only a couple of people seated before that. Before anyone had even picked up a menu, the women behind the counter were snapping and barking for people to order. I took about 30 seconds with my menu and got asked twice during that time if I was ready to order or not. When I did order and was waiting to pay, a different person than the one who took my order came over to me and asked what I wanted, and when I said I was paying she rolled her eyes and yelled over my head to the next people in line -- even though there was PLENTY of room at the counter (I was the only one there). From my table I could see the counter and they were snapping and yelling at everyone!!! I was appalled!!! Other places in town have reputations for bad service but I've never experienced such rude service anywhere. I'll take a bored, uninterested minimum wage employee over three women yelling and barking at me as if I'm just taking up space in their restaurant. I ordered quickly, paid in cash, sat down, and ate as quickly as I could and didn't make a mess or require any further assistance -- no reason for the rudeness. The woman from the kitchen who brought my food was so friendly that it startled me. They should put her FOH and send everyone else to the back. That being said, the food was great (and it came out within two minutes of sitting down). A half chicken salad sandwich and side salad has left me more stuffed than Thanksgiving lunch. The roasted onion dressing wasn't that interesting but it was savory and tasted good on both the salad and the pita chips (which were so crunchy they hurt my teeth but they tasted fine). I was so happy not to see iceberg! The tomato slices were bright red and ripe (unlike the hard-as-rocks pink/red I see in many places that aren't like, farm-to-table) and were even seasoned -- an extra step I deeply appreciated. For some reason, the cucumbers tasted like they had been dug out of the trash, but I didn't really care because the rest was so good. The fresh fruit is a great addition but I'm not sure why the watermelon was cold and the orange slices were warm (nothing I ordered was warm). The chicken salad didn't really warrant all the freaking out I've heard over it, but there was an insane amount piled on the sandwich, and the bread wasn't bad either. The price point hurt, but the amount of food was great. If I had been able to take it with me I definitely would have had enough leftover for lunch the next day! I'll come back if I'm craving it, but it will never be a casual drop-by place for me. I still go to some places when I want the food even if the service isn't that great, but it felt like these people were going out of their way to be rude and make you feel unwelcome. Definitely the rudest service I've encountered in a decade of living in Athens. read more

This place is adorable. However they seem fundamentally unable to understand the most basic concept of all: how to make a sandwich. You put the filling between two pieces of bread. Apparently this is beyond them. I ordered the "Tami" sandwich: smoked turkey, lettuce and tomato on pita with apricot mayo. It showed up in a plastic box with huge amounts of meat stuffed in the side, one sad piece of lettuce, a few very thickly sliced tomatoes on the bottom, pita and two pieces of fruit (orange and pineapple) on top and random walnuts scattered around. I asked the woman at the counter if there was some mistake. She said no and seemed as confused by my confusion as I was by the fact that I would have to assemble my own sandwich from the contents in the box. When I got home to do so, the lettuce and tomato were wet and mushy from sitting underneath everything else and I couldn't figure out how to put the turkey in the pita because the turkey slices were 2cm thick and the pita had no pocket and was hard. This wasn't even an open face or deconstructed sandwich--this was like Plated or Blue apron where you have to make the whole thing yourself but it just won't work. Go here if you don't mind eating your sandwich components totally separately. read more

Hint: place a to go order before you arrive at lunch. Really unimpressed with this place. I really wanted to enjoy it as I had heard good things. The inside at lunch is incredibly tight. Waiting in line took my boyfriend and I over 20 minutes to get to the counter to even place the order. Then another 10 mins to receive our food. Inside and outside seating seemed very limited and half the chairs were flimsy plastic that felt like they would break any second. I had a half order of Martha's salad plate that was really just a scoop of pimento cheese and a scoop of chicken salad on a bed of romaine. It was served in a tacky plastic basket with paper lining the bottoms and sides. There was so much lettuce it looked like I hadn't even touched my plate. There were more celery sticks than I could hold in my hand. The pita chips that looked homemade were way to crispy to enjoy. I could have gone to publix and gotten this meal (and then some) for the same price and it would have tasted exactly the same. read more

Oh, lawdy... how have I not eaten at Marti's At Midday before now? I lived less than 2 blocks away for over a year... just never stopped in. Then I happened across the reviews here and decided to give it a shot. I got the Martha's Salad.. ascoop of chicken salad and a scoop of pimiento cheese on a bed of lettuce accompanied by a fistful of celery sticks, vinaigrette dressing (on the side), a selection of fruit and a nice portion of their pita chips. It was right at $10 and I swear I could eat off of this salad for 3 meals. When she handed the box to me, it was heavy! Both the chicken salad and the pimiento cheese are delicious! I cannot wait to go back and try more items from the menu. In addition, they sell frozen entrees that you can heat/cook at home for dinner. The cafe is charming in its decor and the staff is helpful and friendly. And I am stuffed! Thanks, Marti's! See you again soon! read more

The food is excellent and comes in fairly large portions. If you go during the busy lunch hour you will likely find yourself in a long line, but it moves fairly quickly. The mint sweet tea is perfectly sweet but not too sweet, and very refreshing! You truly can't go wrong here, every thing on the menu is very good. read more
