First and foremost the staff and service was excellent! The food however was just well not good.. I ordered the queen cut prime rib, it came out very cold, I asked for the garlic on it which was chopped garlic straight out of a jar, cold and uncooked, just horrible. I ordered the asparagus side which looked and tasted like it had been boiled and was mushy and cold. The warm bread was good and the salad bar was okay but was a bit lacking in toppings. So value for my 45 dollars as just not there at all. I should have ordered the Perch but it was Saturday and wanted to see what else they might have that was tasted, and it was disappointing. read more

We came in on a busy Saturday night and were told that our wait would be an hour, not bad. We watched the Badger football game and had some drinks. The game was over, we found some seats and started watching the Badger Hockey game, we were waiting 2 hours at this time, they were busy. At 2:30 minutes wait we asked where we were on the list and were told our table was being cleared and we would be next. Met friends there for dinner on a Wednesday night. Place was busy, bar area was packed with people waiting for tables. After an hour wait, finally got seated and greeted by an excellent server. She could tell we were hungry and a little frustrated. Orders were taken promptly. Marty's has a great dinner deal. Two meals for $37 if both meals ordered are under $25, essentially one meal full price, the other half price. The menu is broad with many selections or combos that meet the under $25 threshold. Each meal includes a trip to the salad bar and a warm loaf of bread. The salad bar was average, but contained all the essentials. A member of our group ate about $25 worth of liver pâté off the salad, it must have been good. Our group ordered the following: ribeye steak, ribs, filet with coconut shrimp, seafood platter and two had prime rib which is their specialty. Each entree came with a side. Bottom line, every plate was licked clean. Yes, we were hungry, but the food was very good. A few ribs and a small piece of prime went home in a box along with a loaf of bread. Which, by the way, was excellent - fresh, hot and flavorful. We didn't have dessert. Wifey's meal was a nicely prepared filet and about 6 shrimp. Filet was perfectly prepared and shrimp were probably 21/40s. We both had baked potatoes for a side. I had a slab of blackened prime rib. It was supposed to be the Queen cut but I don't know any queen that could handle it. It was big, it was thick and it was tasty. I ate it but I suffered that night and the next day. Way too much for one sitting. Ok, so why the 4 stars and not five. The server was excellent and the food was good, but the wait was way too long. The restaurant is not huge, but has adequate seating. Somehow they need to limit dinners or increase throughput. I'd suggest maybe having two seatings a night or being a little more creative managing the crowd. Our visit was on a Wednesday, I can't image a Friday or Saturday. Highly recommend without any reservations, but get there early and bring an appetite. read more

The food was fantastic, portions were amazing, and I'm always a sucker for cheese and crackers at the salad bar LOL! We got the pick 2 for $42 and ended up with the blue gill and ribeye. Incredibly flavorful, fish were crispy, steak was cooked to perfection, and we had leftovers of both so really we got 4 meals for $42 (please don't stop this special!). The ambiance was your typical Midwest supper club. Dimly lit, cozy feeling - and anyone complaining about it clearly isn't a supper club connoisseur . Our waitress was absolutely wonderful - very polite, kind, and generous (offering refills, extra sauces, etc. without us asking), but she did seem to forget about us toward the end of the meal. Had to flag her down for a box, and again for our bill. No big deal. My only complaint is that there is definitely a "regular" crowd that gets some extra attention, which is fine, but as newbies it wasn't particularly welcoming in the beginning (the host/hostess, bartender, etc.). Went on a Thursday for the "2 for $33" deal. Very busy place, small bar area to wait. We were told an hour wait but it ended up being over hour and a half. Old fashioned was good. Nice salad bar and two soups to choose from also. Warm loaf of bread served at table. Meal was good -my haddock Oscar & baked baby reds were cold (butter wouldn't even melt on potatoes) but waitress took back to heat up. My friend had the ribeye ($3 up charge on special due to rising meat prices) and was seasoned well & cooked perfect to rare/medium rare. Some tough spots in the steak but overall good. Worst Manager Ever. Went there and waited for 45 min for a table. They brought out food for the other people at my table and forgot about mind. Blamed it on a waitress taking my plate. Waited 20 min for it come out. Took it to go as my everyone was done eating. Wanted to talk to manager and Riley comes out and I explain the horrible service and he refused to do anything. We went there on Saturday (29th of Jan) with a group of 7 (2 have been there before). We got the big round table, we get together one time a year and it was nice to all be able to talk together. We wanted to say a big THANKS to MICHELLE our waitress. She came back quite a few times to make sure our drinks and food were all good. Speaking of the food we all ordered steaks and they were all cooked the way we ordered them. The steaks and rest of meal was delicious and prices were good. Apparently back in the day, exactly where the big round table is now set for groups, they had a stage to showcase strippers.... Ah, the good ole days of Kimberly. T and I went for a late fish dinner one Friday. Just like a typical supperclub, you walk into the bar, order a drink and then look at the menu. Eventually you give your order to a waitress, who then directs you to an appetizer bar and your table. The app bar was ok, nothing suprising. Your standard cellophane wrapped breadsticks and crackers, cheese spread, few mayo based salads and a veggie platter. I ordered perch and T ordered haddock and steak. He liked the way his steak was prepared and thought the fish was good. I really liked my fish, reminded me of the fish frys I had when I was a kid, back when perch and walleye were standard fare. Took home the leftovers and the kids had fish sandwiches the next day. Overall, a decent meal, but not a memorable one. Bar tender was a little rude at first when we asked about getting a table. Had to see hostess but hostess is not by front enterencre. It's in the middle of dining area. Drinks at bar were solid. The wait was a double then what they quoted. Lots of empty tables which seemed odd for such a long wait. Waitress didn't really check in with us once we finally sat. Food was good but nothing to rave about. By the time we were done the bar was empty. Didn't make sense why it took so long to wait. Lots of other places to make your Friday more enjoyable. We recently moved to Wrightstown, WI &, heard about Marty's Place through a friend of ours &, finally went there today around 5:30 ish &, got a seat at the bar &, ordered some drinks with the crabby bartender however, he really wasn't that bad :) Our server came to the bar &, we ordered our food &, she told us where our table was &, we went there &, went to the salad bar &, then, waited nearly an hour for our entree's (in which she never mentioned it would take that long)! My wife and I recently ate at Marty's for dinner and we found it to be a solid experience, though nothing spectacular. We arrived around 8pm and took a seat at the bar. The bartender greeted us, we greeted her back and were pretty much told she couldn't wait for her shift to be over with, as it had been a long night. I can appreciate the honesty, but at the same time we felt like we were just prolonging her shift when she clearly was ready to be done. She made us our drinks, which were both very good and cheap. I had a Whiskey Old Fassioned and my wife had a Vodka Cran and total it was around $8, plus the glasses were pretty large. We gave our order to the server and took a seat. The salad bar was your average salad bar, nothing crazy. Our food came out in a timely matter and it was pretty good. I had the Italian Stuffed Tenderloin and my wife had fried haddock and tenderloin. The Stuffed Tenderloin was very good and my wife's food was good too, though her steak was pretty bland tasting, but not bad. We both had the Twice Baked Potato for a side and they were probably the best I've had, large potatos and tasty. The positives of this place is that the food was pretty good and the drinks were good and reasonable. The negatives; Both the server and bartender seemed pretty uninterested and ready to leave for the night. Not that they were rude or mean, just not overly friendly. I know at the end of a busy night somtimes it's hard to stay overly enthousiastic, so I can relate a bit...Also, the decor of this place is super Old School, like it had been untouched since the late 70's. Though, I'm sure the major demographic of their customers have been coming to eat there since then, so maybe they decided not to mess with it since it works for them. I have tried the shrimp scampi and broiled fish and was happy with both selections, which included a salad bar. Portions were reasonable and competitively priced. The staff was friendly. We have been there several times before and the food has always been good and the staff excellent but on this night we were approached by the owner and he said hey guys do you mind, people are waiting for this table, we all assumed we were being asked to leave because thats what it felt like. I called after I got home and talked to the owner and told him that was rude he told me it was standard practice as that is a popular table I said so! he replied you wouldn't want to wait would you I said I have and he replied well you guys were at that table for hour and a half again I said so! to which he replied we have that table scheduled for an hour and a half. We have been going to Marty's for many years. During the previous ownership, while the food was very good, the hostess, Sherry, was rude and definitely in the wrong line of business. Many of my family members would not go there because of her. Now that it is under new ownership, we all love it. The food remains excellent, the service is great and Mike, the bartender is a jewel. He remembers what you are drinking, mixes a darn good drink and is so friendly and courteous. Try the prime rib when you go; out of this world!!! read more

Went to Marty's for the first time in a long time because our normal fish fry place has nearly a 2 1/2 hour wait now. We were greeted when we entered. A very attentive bartender poured me a generous drink, a wine for my wife and put our name in. Before our first drink was done the waitress had come and gave us menus. She returned shortly for our orders. She asked if we'd like to be seated or wait at the bar, we decided have one more drink at the bar. The bartender informed us they had a new owner now. We had the captain seafood platter and the deep fried haddock. The shrimp in the captains plate were quite large, the perch and haddock were fresh and tasty. My wife loves their shrimp on a skewer. Their hashbrowns are just excellent but I prefer a big baked potato myself. I am surprised that they were not busier for the quality that they offer. They take the entertainment card for those would like to save some money on their meal. The atmosphere was typically for a Wisconsin fish fry. We were out in an hour and 15 minutes. We need to come back and try some of their other entrées before I give them a five star rating but we will! read more
