    Cooler bag

This is the place to get high grade uni. Orders are placed online and are available for pick up during the schedule specified on their website. The location is at their packing facility so you can just drive right in and park. The premium uni tin is worth the splurge; you can definitely taste the difference. They're friendly and carefully pack orders. If you meet the purchase minimum they will even pack items in a cooler bag with ice pack!

Uni is one of my favorite foods and it's becoming harder and harder to find good uni. Even some sushi restaurants seem to serving some sub-par stuff lately (ahem, Sushi Tsujita on Sawtelle). Anywhooooo, I drove 45 minutes (one way) for this place but it was totally with it and I will be making regular visits. The uni in the metal tin was sweet and creamy. The uni in the salt water package wasn't bad either but I would definitely use that for pasta or "al bap" (a korean fish roe rice dish) because it was def more briny. P.s. I like briny uni. Ordering is a breeze. I placed an order for pick up on a Wednesday. Tricia at Maruhide replied to me on Thursday morning. By Friday morning, I was walking to my car with some lovely uni packed inside of an awesome insulated bag that said "LA uni lover" on the outside. If you do decide to pick up in person, you enter thru the door marked "office" and the pick up window was between 9 am-3 pm (at least on the Friday that I went). Thank you Maruhide!! I miss your restaurant but I'm so glad you sell your beautiful uni to the general public.

Helllllo, uni! I ordered a bunch of goodies from Maruhide Marine Products with much skepticism as the destination will be Honolulu. I had a vision of FedEx tossing the box around in their warehouse and the uni overheating in the FedEx delivery truck. I couldn't be more wrong as this was clearly not their first rodeo. The products came perfectly intact, it was superbly packed with preciseness in a Styrofoam box. The cold pack was wrapped to prevent sweat/water spots on uni shutou and sea urchin soy sauce outer packaging. My first taste of their super-premium uni in a metal tray blew me out of the water. The uni isn't tiny like Japan's uni, the flavor was of the highest quality and fresh with a tiny hint of saltwater. Delicious! We will purchase uni from Maruhide Marine Products again. Arigato gozaimasu, Kawamura-san!

After hours in the processing area - just like Eater's video!

With Valentine's day looming, aphrodisiac marketing is ramping up. Some articles state sea urchin has the lust magic; as if folks need that help right now. Pandemic singles blast their thirsts into the verse : a Valentine's vaccination can be a small consolation ;) I can confirm that uni can get you married - my jaw dropped when the maid of honor speech mentioned the story. Uni-flation is real - are there futures for this? $5 per live wasn't so long ago, and now it's pushing ~$20. Might go higher than a Gamestop share soon. Even Sushi Gen's uni dinner went above $80 and is no longer available. Tears. So I wanted to amp up Providence's uni pasta kit with better-than what Asian grocery stores carry. Luckily SoCal folks have a purveyor selling to the retail public. Peep this glorious Eater video to see their operation and info on the product lineup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REhLHpdLCE0 Just order for pickup via https://maruhide.us/pickup-request/ In my case, I needed to do some back and forth emailing due to supply timing. And I just paid in person. Ofc you must wear a mask to enter their building to complete the purchase and pickup. A small cold pack was given to me with the purchase, but I'd recommend bringing an insulated container for the trip home. Alum processed uni stays firmer longer; while natural can melt pretty quickly. So their untainted packed in seawater version is an intriguing buy. I thought the premium tray was mild in flavor; but a lot more enjoyable than what you find in grocery stores. Doesn't quite beat the best from Santa Barbara divers catches though (see my uni road trip collection: https://www.yelp.com/collection/_y3dX9YZ-M3DWp_3OAgYDg)

    Fresh Uni

This has to be one of the coolest experiences I've ever had from being able to open up the uni to learning how they're processed for premium and for other grades as well. The process is very time-consuming and for every 1,000 lbs they get about 5 to 10 trays of the premium stuff which is really crazy. I was able to try the Uni right out of the shell and it was fantastic and then I was able to try the finished product and I was absolutely blown away by the flavors.

I love getting fresh Uni here when it's available. Can't tell you how stoked I was when I found out how close it is to my home. Can't wait to go back and pick through some fresh live Uni

This review is for both this location and Uni Club in Torrance. (Both under same management) Uni Club is temporarily closed as a restaurant till August 2017, but they sell take out fresh Uni and other products. I wanted to buy their famous Uni Shutou, so gave them a call to ask their business hours. The female staff answered the phone was very friendly and informative. (We spoke in Japanese:) I thought Uni Club in Torrance was closed but she told me I can still buy their products at Torrance location too! The staff at Uni Club were all welcoming and super friendly. I bought 2 Uni Shutou (original and with squid) and Ruibe (Frozen Uni). They put my order in the cooler bag with dry ice in it. Everything stayed frozen until I got home. Prices are very reasonable too! I love Uni Shutou! Perfect with beer, sake or wine! You can also cook uni dishes with it, like Uni cream pasta, Uni don...etc:) Ruibe was good too and unique. It's rich and melts in your mouth. I'll definitely come back for more! A+++++

Received my first order! The uni packed in salt water is amazing! The uni shutou original is delicious! Will definitely order again!

This is the best. Make sure they have them in stock. I sent email, they're kind enough let me know when it is coming.

I'm so glad that I found you guys! This is the best cake for my husband (I gave him the tray of uni instead of actual cake) Thank you for the best quality of uni. We loved it.

If ur a true uni lover, u MUST get the premium uni! It is truly premium quality better than any uni I've tried . Tricia there was friendly and gave me a cooler bag so I can drive it to my moms to share. I've already placed a reorder for this week. You must get on that wait list!!! It's worth every penny.

If you want fresh seafood at a reasonable price, this is the spot. For first timers we took it easy. I went with the fried fish and scallops. My wife chose the fried fish, shrimp and scallops. Went on Sunday for a quick brunch. Ordered grilled halibut plate, wife ordered fish and scallops, topped it off with a clam chowder and two sodas. Total came out to be around 65$. Fish was just grilled with a ton of oil on the same griddle as everything else, seasoning consists of old bay and that is it. Bland, old bay seasoning. Fish and chip was bland, no flavor. Clam chowder had minimal clams and mainly thick soup base. So unless you think those YouTubers are coming there to say nice things, edit the video, and then post it so they can make content money. When I was choosing my fish from their ice buckets, I thought they looked a little extra slimy but against my better judgment just gave it a shot anyway. Wife and I visited on Friday at around 1 ish and these are a few new things we found: 1) Parking is a $20 flat rate, credit card only accepted. The lot seemed small compared to the old location. 2) There's no fish market, there's 1 window where you order your food and drinks off a menu and it gets delivered to your table. Before you order though, get a table and check the number on it 'cause they'll ask you for it once you place your order. 3) Bathrooms are bigger and cleaner lol 4) Right next to the boardwalk, real nice to watch cruise ships and naval boats passing by. Food was still delicious, a little pricey but if you are a Costco member, I recommend you get the InKind gift cards, they take them and that's a huge saver. Staff was real nice and helpful, we had fun chatting with Rosa, whose been working for the market for over 20 years, real cool lady.
