This is a nice edition to the actual restaurant next door and you can buy fresh seafood and some food to sit at their patio and enjoy. They had multiple good options but it was way too pricey to have in a market. The same price as eating inside. I had the mermaid bowl for a whooping $27... small piece of salmon and some rice and green beans. It was very tasty but way overpriced. We also had the fish and chips which comes with their awesome sauce. Perfect bread to fish ratio but still overpriced for a market. They should have cheaper items or at least smaller portions for less if you are not eating in the restaurant. They guy behind the counter was very nice and tried his best but seemed a bit overwhelmed as he was basically doing everything what the server inside would do but also making sure all customers got their order and also served them food. Should be a two man operation. Hope he gets paid well!!

Our monthly date night turned into a spontaneous food binge. After biking off the beach to the main street to find some food, we conveniently stopped right in front of Roe. We opted for their more casual takeout service, their market side. Shared their Blackened Mahi Sandwich, which came with kennebec fries with their Roe Sauce ($20) - such an amazing sandwich! Fish was cooked perfectly, the ciabatta soaked up as much of the sauces as it could, fries were out of this world with the additional sauce on the side to make all your taste buds work. The food was superb, and I can't wait to try more! Service, on the other hand, was cold, hoping for a warmer welcome on the other side of this eatery.

This seafood spot is an absolute MUST when in Long Beach! Roe has been serving up the freshest seafood both at their restaurant and fish market since 2015! If it's your first time, definitely order their Poke Cevichos for a mix of ceviche and tuna poke over tortilla chips. The Capitan Platter comes with fish & chips, calamari fries (SO GOOD!), popcorn shrimp, fries, and coleslaw, and is perfect to share! Also the perfect spot to bring your pup in their outside patio.

Wonderful ambiance trendy vibe. The service is super friendly and prompt. The patio area was chilly but the heat lamps kept it comfy. The food was wonderful. They had multiple menus, lots to choose from. The Happy Hour has wonderful pricing. We had the crunchy roll bowl, seasonal oysters and ceviche - all good! The fish and chips were perfectly cooked- the fish was flakey and the outside was not too thick and crispy. It had 2 dip choices but was delish without dipping. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the pappardelle came with lots of tender short rib meat! We are picky about our fried rice and would have liked it to be a bit more authentic- but still good. We were celebrating a birthday and the complimentary dessert was fabulous! We will be back!

Definitely a place to come for great drinks and good foods (prices maybe on the high side). But great location and near home so can't complaint about that. They do have a great menu of drinks and the bartenders are great of making it consistently. Our servers are wonderful and great on checking on us to see if we need anything else. They do have both indoor and outdoor so it's nice to be inside during cold or raining days and outside for ocean breezes during hot days. Love it here.

They say location is everything! I've been taking strolls down 2nd street for years but this was the first time I ate at Roe. As much as I like the shops, bars and steak houses Roe is properly on the outskirts (better yet the end) of 2nd street. Live Jazz, awesome menu filled with plenty of seafood favorites, a welcoming and knowledgeable staff plus Happy Hour! Definitely a true gem. So how did it taste? Grand Manier & Coke - I normally don't comment on my drinks especially a simple one. However, the bar tender did all the little things. Asked if I wanted it neat, on the rock, with a wedge and even what type of glass I wanted. If you're like me, those things matter. Definitely took the guessing out of it and I couldn't have been more pleased. Ciopinno - this California original dish had all the things that you want from a stew. A great bite, a good blend of wine and tomato paste in the broth and a selection of crustaceans. I just with there were a few less shells to highlight the fish and a bit of heat. The sourdough roll, though abundant, was a bit much without a steak knife. Awesome to sop up the broth once the seafood is gone. Peruvian Scallops - though chilled, they pack a nice punch with (what I believe is a wasabi lemon mixture). Not a bad first bite. If you're in the area and want a different pace of a night out, Roe did not disappoint. Not only was this a beautiful venue but the live Jazz definitely made me feel like I was on another side of town. The food was light enough to consider dessert. Great Job Roe

    Capitan Platter

FYI: There's two Roe. One is the seafood market at the corner and attached right next to it is the restaurant itself. Only street parking. I didn't know the restaurant existed until I left the seafood market. Anyhoo, we ordered the Captain Platter, Crispy Chicken Sandwich and Fried Fish Tacos. Out of 3 items we ordered, I would say the captain platter was the best. I think everything on the platter was good. The chicken sandwich was MEH and so was the Fish Tacos. The fish tacos tortillas were crumbling and falling apart. It's quite hard to eat the fish tacos while trying to hold everything together. I will try the restaurant next time when in the area. Maybe it will be better.

If I could review individual people , Carlos and that person would get 5 stars. I walked into the place 2 hours before closing and I got stared at by two employees like I had just punched someone , it was wild. Like two high school bullies that disliked you simply for existing. I felt like they were about throw me into a toilet or something. We got past that and were eventually seated outside and that was my decision. I ended up not really liking it , the table was a bit wobbly and it was warmer outside than I had anticipated. So, I asked very nicely and considerately if I could be moved somewhere else, and the server looked at me like I had just asked him to flip the entire continent upside-down . He then looked around and found me a spot. During that , a new person came to me and asked me in a very pissy tone, sorry dude, I'm not in the mood to sweat while I tear up this fish. Younger guy , reddish hair. I find my new seat and proceed to be abandoned for 35 minutes. I had ordered my drinks at the old table and it was as if I was being reprimanded for making a request. My older server just left and began washing cups at the bar, and keep in mind he made the switch, so he knows where I am. He's super accommodating to everyone else, but because I asked to be moved, I just stopped existing, it was insane, he wouldn't even make eye contact with me . Millennial dude , hair spiked up. Finally comes in Carlos, who noticed that I was left on the side of the road who asked if I had been help and to which I responded , not really, because I did have my drink order taken , but no food, which he quickly handled. Apparently my drinks just grew legs and walked into the ether, so Carlos reordered them for me along with my food. Following that it was all uphill , the food was great and Carlos really saved the night for me. If I had come in 30 minutes before closing , I'd be mad as well, but it was 2 hours, get a grip dawg. Overall a fairly passive-aggressive atmosphere , with the exception of Carlos and the aforementioned employee. Those two are lighthouses in a sea of angst. Thank you Carlos for almost single-handedly compensating for all of that negative. Ask for Carlos the next time you go.

When she politely brought it to Marisol's attention, instead of acknowledging that there may have been a mistake, Marisol insisted the order had never been placed that way. She then asked my daughter if she wanted to order the missing item while she was already there to pick up her food, which would require waiting another 15 minutes. Since the delay was the result of an incorrect order, my daughter asked if she could at least receive fresh fries while waiting. Marisol told her she would have to pay extra for fresh fries. Marisol also claimed that she had repeated the order back over the phone when it was originally placed. That simply isn't true. She rushed my daughter off the phone, saying she'd see her in 15 minutes, without reviewing the order. We've continued to support A&J's because the food is consistently excellent, but experiences like this make it harder to keep coming back. Great food can only go so far when customers are made to feel dismissed instead of valued. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional customer service training so loyal customers receive the experience they deserve.
