Building facade. Looks like they kept the murals and windows boarded up after the 3/31/2020 riots.

It's been a very long while since I've been to Rainbow Seafood Market. Really--last time was when they were located on Long Beach Boulevard, which was over 4 years ago. What brought me here today was two different seafood markets were out of oysters. I also just happened to call ahead and confirm they had a case available. Lucky me, I claimed their last box. I like this Pine Ave location better than their Long Beach Boulevard store. There's a lot less clutter and miscellaneous merchandise. Beware this place is also very small and tight inside. Markers are on the floor to enforce social distancing and masks are required to enter. One wall is a complete array of sauces and spices. Produce availability is limited to your basic cilantro, tomatoes, lime, onions, etc.. I came specifically for the oysters, and they had it. Quality was fresh. Not a single bad one in the bunch. A case is 60 count for $60.

Can always find what I want and need love oysters. Love supporting my local small businesses in my community. I recommend to my friends and family, great customer service ....

We have been a long time customer of the seafood market, prior to them changing ownerships. We had purchased small bag of oysters and we notice half of the oysters was bad after we cooked it on the grill. We had contacted the market and they demand that we bring the bad oysters back to them same day. We explained to them that we had made the purchase and was not able to bring back the oysters due to the event we were attending. They said they were not able to do anything since we did not bring it small day. We wanted to let them know that the batch they had received was bad. They were unprofessional on how to deal with the situation. They should know that bad seafood cause a bad reaction to our health.

Went on Sunday for a quick brunch. Ordered grilled halibut plate, wife ordered fish and scallops, topped it off with a clam chowder and two sodas. Total came out to be around 65$. Clam chowder had minimal clams and mainly thick soup base. So unless you think those YouTubers are coming there to say nice things, edit the video, and then post it so they can make content money. My favorite items are their BIBINGKA and TAHO. Bibingka is a thick coconut rice cake with a cream cheese center. Their bibingka is baked and flavored to perfection! It has the right amount of sweetness and texture when you bite into it! So delicious! I typically eat it warm and pair it with my morning coffee. Taho is a sweet dessert made from soft tofu, brown sugar, and sago (tapioca pearls). You can have it warm or cold. Very simple and tasty. The bakery also has other options for desserts and serve fresh pandesal (sweet bread) daily. If you have a craving for Filipino dessert I highly recommend San Honoré Panderia!

Rarely, I purchased hot food from a supermarket, especially Filipino food. I am a Filipino chef and this day I needed specific food that every Filipino restaurant serves. Pansit, pork, adobo, barbecue, chicken, skewers, and Shanghai lumpia. Of course they had these items, maybe it was too late in the day, however, if they followed, serve safe rules this food would've been OK. The pansit was spoiled you could smell it before you even picked up the box they were serving in. The chicken skewers were burnt, and still she offered to pack them up for me. Although the pork adobo was in the heating plate, you could tell it wasn't heated at the right temperature and there were only a few pieces and she was gonna pack it up as a full order. That's a no-no. By this time, I didn't even wanna ask about the lumpia. Somebody please check their food how dare them offer rancid, spoiled food. It's very comical because I look like your average white girl, but I'm actually quite fluent in Tagalog since my father was from the Philippines. It's easy to think that we don't understand what you're saying, but I understood everything.

Unfortunately, one employee, Marisol, consistently provides poor customer service. She comes across as combative, takes no accountability for mistakes, and makes resolving simple issues unnecessarily difficult. My daughter called in our usual order for pickup. When she arrived, she immediately noticed something was wrong because the total was much lower than expected. When she politely brought it to Marisol's attention, instead of acknowledging that there may have been a mistake, Marisol insisted the order had never been placed that way. She then asked my daughter if she wanted to order the missing item while she was already there to pick up her food, which would require waiting another 15 minutes. Since the delay was the result of an incorrect order, my daughter asked if she could at least receive fresh fries while waiting. Marisol told her she would have to pay extra for fresh fries. Marisol also claimed that she had repeated the order back over the phone when it was originally placed. That simply isn't true. She rushed my daughter off the phone, saying she'd see her in 15 minutes, without reviewing the order. We've continued to support A&J's because the food is consistently excellent, but experiences like this make it harder to keep coming back. Great food can only go so far when customers are made to feel dismissed instead of valued. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional customer service training so loyal customers receive the experience they deserve.

My sister and I visited this past --our walnut salad was fresh, the Riesling hit perfectly, and the calamari came out with that golden crunch to die for. But our server... all we could say was Steve, Steve, Steve!!!! He took the cake! Talk about impeccable service and making you feel genuinely welcomed--that's an understatement. This was my second time here, and I've gotta say, I think this has officially become one of my all-time favorites. Downtown Long Beach has always had such a fun, foodie-filled atmosphere. I know some restaurants are struggling, but it's because they didn't have the same atmosphere & service. The food is great, but what really stands out to me are the PEOPLE. Even the servers who weren't serving our table intentionally, smiled, and said hello as they passed. I even remembered one of the servers from my last visit and her sister because they both have some of the most inviting personalities ever. That says a lot about the culture of a restaurant. We also had the opportunity to meet the new GM, which was another nice touch. Great food. Great ambience. GREAT people. And Steve,,,you're the best! 10/10. We'll definitely be back.
