My family was having party, we use to go this place since I was young, it use to be real clean place, cheap as well, but the oyster is not it, it was smell so bad, I mean it's seafood of course but it taste old and it was good oyster. i spoken to manager in person but since I've throw away the oyster they cant refund me my money? It's been a very long while since I've been to Rainbow Seafood Market. Really--last time was when they were located on Long Beach Boulevard, which was over 4 years ago. What brought me here today was two different seafood markets were out of oysters. I also just happened to call ahead and confirm they had a case available. Lucky me, I claimed their last box. I like this Pine Ave location better than their Long Beach Boulevard store. There's a lot less clutter and miscellaneous merchandise. Beware this place is also very small and tight inside. Markers are on the floor to enforce social distancing and masks are required to enter. One wall is a complete array of sauces and spices. Produce availability is limited to your basic cilantro, tomatoes, lime, onions, etc.. I came specifically for the oysters, and they had it. Quality was fresh. Not a single bad one in the bunch. A case is 60 count for $60. read more

Just to be clear, we hardly ever buy seafood, here or anywhere (not a huge fan of non-sushi fish, and seafood I do like, like scallops and lobster, have gotten just so expensive.) So when this place opened down the street from us, I wasn't that excited. Yes, they do have a good range of clearly high quality seafood for... let's say, pretty reasonable prices - it's not Grocery Outlet, but they're not gonna rip you off on anything, especially considering the quality. (I've purchased seafood here exactly once, when we realized we only had a couple days to use an Amex deal they qualified under - $14 a pound scallops, but restaurant quality for sure.) But when the pandemic started, and we stopped going to the grocery store as often, we started really missing having as convenient access to fresh produce (since we weren't buying fresh groceries as often), until my wife pointed out: we have a little market across the street, they sell some produce, let's try their produce! So we did, and now we're hooked. No, their produce is clearly not their main purpose, so they don't have a lot of variety, but what they do carry, weirdly, is just *way* better quality than mainstream grocery stores. Incredibly flavorful carrots, giant juicy onions, perfectly ripe potatoes, and perfectly fresh peppers (bird's eye and jalapenos) are now things we buy here quite frequently, now that we know! Just wish they had more produce variety, since everything they do carry is so good! More expensive than the grocery store, too, but, sometimes it's worth paying for quality. (That and cause they're down the street, but also regardless.) They also have a fairly small but well-curated selection of spices and sauces and things, again clearly designed to be accompaniment for their seafood, but they have one specific brand of hot sauce I love that I don't really ever see in grocery stores (El Yucateco - discovered it at a restaurant), for like two bucks, so I'm not complaining too much! All super friendly people there, too - only other tiny complaint is they have a $10 card minimum, which is a lot harder to hit if you're buying produce and hot sauce than if you're buying fish, so I usually end up having to pay cash. Still worth it! (And I do need to try more of their seafood, too, sometime.) read more

We have been a long time customer of the seafood market, prior to them changing ownerships. We had purchased small bag of oysters and we notice half of the oysters was bad after we cooked it on the grill. We had contacted the market and they demand that we bring the bad oysters back to them same day. We explained to them that we had made the purchase and was not able to bring back the oysters due to the event we were attending. They said they were not able to do anything since we did not bring it small day. We wanted to let them know that the batch they had received was bad. They were unprofessional on how to deal with the situation. They should know that bad seafood cause a bad reaction to our health. read more

What a wonderful seafood market. It's family run and the selection is fantastic. There is a wonderful selection of fresh fish, but there is some really great stuff in the freezer. Some people don't know this, but much of the seafood we buy at even the fanciest stores arrive frozen-so you can enjoy much of the same without the middle person AND support a local business by swinging by here. This place is the absolute best for seasonal seafood at an amazing price. I was recommended to this place by my housemate who used to reside nearby and would always buy their oysters. Even though I live in Santa Ana, I would drive all the way here. Worth the 25-30 min drive. Awesome selection and such a diverse option of seafood. It looks like they recently renovated so the shopping experience is amazing compared to other shops. They also sell awesome produce, including large, quality avocados and sometimes cherimoya aka sour sop. Not sure who the lady at the register was but she was beyond sweet. My dad used to come here all the time when her store was on pacific ave. We were sad to find out she closed, but with the help of yelp, I was able to reunite us again! Okay, I have only been here a couple times, and each time was for their oysters. I normally have a different go to spot, specifically because they are around the corner to my house. But that place has let me down to the point I found this gem of a supermarket. While the supermarket is small and you really only have street parking. They have always had oysters available, even on busy holidays. I buy oysters by the case, which is perfect for grilling. I think they have wonderful customer service for the few times I been there. They bring out the oysters (that's in a big box) and roll it out to your car. Other places don't do that. Also, I wanted to add that today when we went, we actually arrived after they had closed. They were literally outside of the store locking their doors. However, they opened back their doors and still allowed us to buy a case. (And even though they were closed, they still wheeled out the oysters and helped us put it in the car.) they did not rush us. If this isn't amazing customer service, then I don't know what is. Thieves. After charging my debit card woman claims that it didn't go through. I immediately check my account before allowing her to charge me again and of course the transaction was there. This is by far the best (and cheapest!) place I have found to buy fresh seafood in Long Beach. Forget the fancily organized display at Whole Foods, with the strategically placed kale garnishes and astronomically expensive fillets--this is the real deal. Buried under piles of crushed ice, presentation be damned, the majority of the fish are whole and are scaled and gutted (and filleted, I would assume) to order. I bought a couple of red snapper here for less than $10 and they were wonderful. They also have a number of different kinds of shrimp, including ones with the heads, shells, tails and antennae (I, for one, like heads on my seafood) that were around $3-4/lbs. and were quite sweet and tasty. If you want to cook yourself up a delicious seafood feast on the cheap, this is the place to go. read more

This place is s fish pit! and smells like it too. Really there was not much selection as other posters have mentioned. Basically shrimp odd things most people don't eat like octopus. Not much of the more main stream fair like Lobster, Salmon or Swordfish. It is a typical Asian market in a nondescript area of Long Beach. Literally have had everything I ever needed. Great service & great people! Multiple types of fresh fish & different shrimp options. Also, a great assortment of frozen seafood. I would not buy their clams. I bought over $40.00 worth of clams and when I took them out and soaked them in water, they opened. I did not even get to the steamed part. I was told not to eat clams that were open. The lady was not any help. She blamed me and said I could not return them because it was my fault. I guess you get what you pay for. read more
