Solely based on the spiral croissants: Showed up about 15 minutes before opening with about 3 groups in front of us, which wasn't bad. Minutes later though, the line really built up. I was told I could only get one of each flavor per person. Unfortunately, my husband was in the car with sleeping kids, and was told that he had to be physically in the store to be able to get another set of each flavor and pay on a separate transaction. Okay, fine, but it would be helpful if that's posted somewhere like their website and social media platforms. I can't imagine we're the only ones making a bit of a drive to try these things. The croissants were really crunchy..like cronchy, not crispy. The filling inside was light in flavor. I wouldn't get again. Overall, would give it 2.5 stars but rounded up to 3 because they do offer a bunch of other pastries that looked beautiful and delicious, and the store itself was bright, clean, and cute. Our granddaughter took us here for a treat and we were pleasantly surprised for the desserts and drinks. The service was excellent and we had no difficulty finding a parking spot. Not sure which rock I have been living under but this is the first time I tried this bakery after moving to South Bay 10 years ago. The bakery is in a strip mall and they have outdoor seating as well as indoor. The indoor are very elegant and pretty and truly instagrammable. Sadly the outdoor is lacking aesthetic although it's dog friendly. Their famous spiral croissant usually sold out quick in the morning and I heard there is always a line out of the store, so we didn't get to try that but the other pastries and the mousse that we tried are all scrumptious. I would say the price is definitely on the higher end (around ($10/pastry). They have recently opened up a new store in Palo Alto so I'm looking forward to check that store out. It was my birthday and I was grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. I got to thinking that one must always have cake on one's birthday and began thinking about where I could procure a good cake at 5 pm on a Monday. Parked in a parking space near Trader Joe's was a van that said "Marvel Cake" on the side and I decided that it was a sign that I should visit. I didn't know what to expect, and worried it might be Marvel-themed kids cakes. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into an adorable little shop that looked like a French patisserie. There weren't pre-made cakes for sale, at least not an hour before closing, but there was a selection of beautiful tarts. I bought 4: hazelnut, lemon, crème brûlée and passion fruit. We ate the hazelnut and lemon tonight (delicious) and will save the other two for tomorrow. They were pricey at $10+ per tart, but it was a worthy splurge. It looked like they have some seating where people could eat their treats and have a coffee or tea as well. Great find! I bought the customized birthday cake from Maryam twice, you can see it in the pictures; gorgeous and beautiful. What you cannot see is the taste; it tastes great! The pink one was the red velvet and the blue one was the chocolate hazelnut. This is a must-visit gem of a bakery. Had the spinach feta croissant the leek and Parmesan croissant and the chocolate croissant. They were all delicious. Rich and flavorful. After seeing the viral spiral croissants in NY and seeing that Marvel Cake had similar ones, I knew I had to stop by to try some. I stopped by around 10:30 on a weekday, and the cafe was about half filled with no wait. The decor is simple yet cute, and it'd be a cute place to get some coffee with a friend. I wouldn't recommend it as a place to study since it didn't seem like it had that many outlets and there's not that many tables. I ordered the strawberry and pistachio spiral croissant, cream croissant, and lavender latte with oat milk. Out of the two spiral croissants, I definitely preferred the strawberry more. I couldn't taste the pistachio, and it looks like there's some type of butter in it when I look at other Yelp pictures, but when I cut my croissant in half, there wasn't anything inside. The layers were flakey but also a bit dry, not that buttery. The strawberry one was a lot better and didn't taste artificial at all. Considering the price of the spiral croissants, the flavor fell a bit short for me. I would say it's still worth checking out, but I wouldn't wait for it. As for the lavender latte and cream croissant, I would skip it. The lavender taste was so subtle I could barely even taste it at times and it just tasted like a regular latte, whereas the custard in the croissant was quite bland and needed more sugar. I was really looking forward to going here based on all the good reviews. Sadly was pretty disappointed. I got four items. A pear tart, mixed fruit tart, almond croissant and chocolate croissant. The place is super cute and the service was great (hence the three stars - I would give two if it was based on food alone). The pear tart was really bland, it's like they didn't put sugar in the pastry dough. The filling was ok, but clearly wasn't made that day. Actually nothing I bought seemed fresh, it was at least a day old. Fruit tart was ok, the crust was mushy because it had been sitting out awhile. Came here on a Saturday afternoon, and they had a fresh batch of spiral croissants. This went great with our lattes, and the staff provided nice recommendations and accommodations. There was also a limited time pumpkin flavored croissant, which was tasty. All croissants were crisp, fresh, and had tasty stuffing. The seating was in a semi-private part a bit behind the selection of food, which helped keep us separate from other customers lining up for food. Overall, the experience was really cozy and relaxing. There wasn't a lot of people, so it was frustrating to see how long it took since I needed to get back at 11 also. This rating is for the spiral croissant. I got the pistachio croissant and I found it had very weak pistachio flavor (with a hint of rose?). I almost doubted they gave me the right croissant flavor as the pastry cream inside was a milk tea color. They are probably using Californian pistachios which when processed into paste for baked goods turn a brown color. Californian pistachios don't have as strong of a flavor compared to the bright green Iranian pistachios. I guess it's not something easily fixed as I assume it's expensive to buy imported pistachios. It was just disappointing because pistachio is my favorite flavor. I didn't try the strawberry or chocolate croissants but I assume those probably have a stronger flavor profile. But on the other hand, I also tried a chocolate mousse tart which was excellent. TL;DR try once for the spiral croissant but go back and get their other pastries read more

This is our second visit at giving Marvel another try and all I can say is their taste is not good! We tried the viral spirals (strawberry and chocolate) and although I personally don't like pastries with fillings inside, their fillings/paste just doesn't cut it. You can eat it, but taste-wise is probably equivalent to 85 degree or Sheng Kee. The fillings of beard papa's probably better imo. Also, the pastries are too thick, we ended up putting them in toaster, which make them slightly better. But still..great place, great looking pastries, but the taste? Come on! had to try the spiral croissant for v-day. the cafe itself is bright, airy, charming and open. the pastries are exquisite works of art - so beautifully put together and look at. I got the butter croissant and it was one of the best I've had (and I've had many in Paris). It was the perfect size, perfect amount of buttery, flakey goodness, good structure (didn't completely compress when bitten into) and was just all around wonderful. The spiral croissant was mixed. the chocolate was the best and pistachio was meh. They had run out of strawberry within the first 60 minutes of opening so had just missed getting to try it. Attempted to order a special birthday cake for a friends party that I will be surprise attending /coming home for from deployment. Internet service while deployed is a bit spotty which I mentioned to the shop. I initially requested information and agreed to the pricing for said cake In late July, and when I followed up 3 weeks later in mid august (a week before I was to pick up the cake). During the follow up, the shop said that my order was never confirmed, they are fully booked, and are not able to take any more orders. In the emails prior there was no mention of nexts steps or the process to confirm the order which I think is strange since we had already agreed on the price and pick up date. Long story short - this place has BAD customer service, doesn't follow up, and shouldn't be considered if you're seriously looking at fun cake options. You can find better elsewhere! UPDATE - Responding to owner - Thank you for responding so quickly - it appears that on this platform (yelp) you can manage your messages and communicate expectations which seems hard for you to do via email requests. Regardless, my previous follow up email was more than a WEEK before the event (see attached pic of email with the date), not two days as you indicated in your message which aimed to try and manipulate the timelines to excuse your response. Based off of this false claim, I decided to look more into this bakery's previous reviews - which show a clear pattern - that scheduling and communication aren't in this bakery's priority or capability. I appreciate the proposed military discount however services will not be needed.
